Seems good to me
Love having this available offline. Thanks
Really handy
Best dictionary app out there. I'm a long time user of the Windows version of this app. I'm glad they have it for ios devices too.
I like it.
I like this dictionary because this app gives me some useful information bout words that others do not give.
Very useful app. Thanks
An everyday companion :-)
Really owe some app.
Review update: Best dictionary app out there. Developer very responsive: small hitch with first iOS7 version that did not sync bookmarks, is now fixed in latest update of 2013-12-02. Now five stars! Keep up the good work!
This is awesome dictionary. Absolutely the best!!!
Wordweb is what I use on my PC and I'm thrilled it's available on iPhone. No ads and comprehensive database.
I am a retired writer/editor. In addition, I have taught almost 40 college writing courses. WordWeb is simply the best dictionary/thesaurus combination software I have found. Not only did I recommend it for years to my students, I continue to use it exclusively for my creative fiction now. What's so elegant about this software is its single interface for both dictionary and thesaurus. A single entry returns just about everything you could possibly want to know about the word. The software even makes suggestions if I hopelessly mangle the spelling. And when my writing vocabulary exceeds my speaking vocabulary (often!), WordWeb gives me the pronunciation of the word. I also like the ability (in Windows, anyway) to open Word on one side of the monitor and WordWeb on the other. IPad's recent upgrade makes multitasking between Pages and WordWeb as easy. I am glad to have spellcheckers embedded in programs, but I find them both incomplete and inaccessible. WordWeb solves this problem. I fully recommend this software, but do buy the full version. It's well worth the money.
!
Nice update!
I need help with solving crosswords. A key feature is to be able to enter a "?" for each missing letter, even if the missing letter is at the beginning or end of a word. The pattern matching in this app ignores the number of "?", and there doesn't appear to be any difference between a "?" and an "*" - the former is used to indicate exactly one missing letter, the latter is a wildcard for multiple letters. Fix this, and you get five stars!
The best dictonary i had ever used ..... Love the look, vocabulary & explanation
This should come standard with iDevices. It's natural, no BS ads, and it's deadly fast because it's all offline (good for iPods and iPads) as a bibliophile, I use this daily.
Has yet to let me down. I love the coverage of words and the straightforwardness. The most reliable app on my iPod and perhaps the most useful. Use it a lot. Keep up the good work.
But why no etymology? New icon is awful... Graphic downgrade.
Poor reliability on definitions, just look up this apps definition of alchemy or conservative for just a start. I honestly believe the editors are just guessing, making up or are deliberately skewing definitions. Sad, just sad.
The application is good. But you will have to pay for Thesaurus and Chambers dictionary. Now it becomes expensive. Somehow the developer managed to hide in-app purchases from Apple so that you don't see this "feature" until you install the app.
Simple but powerful. Easy to use.
This app performs well as a basic English dictionary (which I don't know why Apple doesn't include on iOS devices like it does on Macs), but despite advertising as such, there is no thesaurus function. There's some kind of "show synonyms" switch in the preferences, but it doesn't really do anything. If you've paid for another, real, thesaurus app, you can set this app up to link you there, but nothing gets shown inside THIS app.
The best reference/ look-up I've used. Always got the word meaning, good examples and illustrations.
Easy to use.
Great application. Very neat how words are defined beyond general definition; words may have definitions for when it's being used as a noun, verb, adjective, and etc. Definitely one of the better dictionary apps around.
the most useful, easiest dictionary app i ve ever used
Great English offline dictionary, the fastest with no ads. Drawbacks: Layout of buttons is not that intuitive, and new app icon is bad.
This app is really easy to use and has thorough definitions and descriptions of usage. I use it all the time!
It helps me a lot with words i don't quite understand and it's easy to use.
Internet connection is not required and is really helpful XD
Very usefull!
Has become my everyday reference for English language, great app.
You have to " buy" it. That is plain below the belt bs.
Best app ever! It really helps my son do his homework and non-inappropriate! I think this is my only app that I wrote a review on! Keep up on the job! PS. I am a teacher
This is useful and can come in handy. But does it require Internet?
This was the fourth dictionary app I downloaded, but the first to at least provide a link to the word not included (as well as assuring me I the correct spelling: my main purpose for desiring the app as mobile search engines limit pages used, so hate to have to delete current research page just to look up word). NONE of the rest had "inbibe," which while you had no definition, it came up showing me I had indeed spelled it correctly & provided a links if I desired something further. Great job (and I rarely write reviews of apps, so NOT faint praise). I will check out any other apps you may have.
I've been using this for years now, pretty much exclusively. It's the only dictionary I use on my iPhone, and the only one I will need because of its great functionality and user-friendly interface. Also that no Internet connection is required for the standard dictionary is perhaps its best feature. Great job.
No crashes and intuitive UI. I think I have found an error in the definition for "rhizotomy": it reads that the sensory nerves are located in the anterior portion of the spinal cord and that the motor nerves originate in posterior parts. The opposite is actually true.
I like it. It works for me
Love it and no ads. Thank you.
This app isn't like other apps. This dictionary app doesn't need Internet nor help suggestions. I recommend this app to you guys.
I'm constantly looking words up. I have the desktop app as well. Both are excellent. Replace your dictionary apps with this one. It's great!
Best free reference app available. Bookmark option is very valuable to any reader.
I can't believe this app is free. It's very thorough, fast, offline, and gives things like word origin, related words and a great thesaurus, which are all excellent resources for EFL speakers. I'm definitely recommending this app to all of my students!
I hate getting an app that looks great and has all that you want, then get a page saying "upgrade" or "get this for only x amount". It does what all the other regular dictionaries do but to hear an audio of the word is $3.99. I think that's a rip off! A company or whatever can be all great and you love it but if they ever try, even one time, to get me to pay extra, it completely changes my opinion of them.
I love this app. I use it so much that I put it on the bottom of my iPhone screen so I can access it anytime when I read. I wish it could have a history of the words I looked up. That can enhance tremendously the learning new words instead of just understanding them than forgetting them right away.
I think it was already mentioned but I like to reiterate the point that its the only good and free dictionary app which is AD-FREE!
Favorite dictionary app. Lightweight but feature-full, therefore awesome. This app has literally been the FIRST app in my home screen for 2 years. My vocabulary has grown significantly in that timeframe, so I'd say the app is effective.
