  Progress is usually a wonderful thing, but in some things it can be very damaging. Vocabulary and spelling seems to be so trivial in the scheme of things in today's world. When was the last time you read an article or letter that a writer made an effort to use proper grammar and spelling? Is this the writers fault. Maybe or maybe not. Today, it just appears as if it's not important. Dictionary.com is a great application and is trying to help all of us to improve ourselves. I certainly need all the help I can get.

  The thesaurus seems no better than average! Some of the synonyms don't even seem to apply. I have googled and found better words, however if you need a quick app this is the one.

  This app works terribly without wifi connection. I can't access the search field because it keeps jumping from one "network is required" to another, without the ability to reach search screen again.

  This app is one of the most important ones on my phone. And it worked perfectly until it was overhauled. Now the word origins require the internet. The primary thing that makes this app superior to Other dictionaries is it's offline access. ( I read and contemplate words most frequently in the subway). I will return my review to the five stars the app should be getting when this massive blunder is corrected.

  The messages feature keys an alert number on the app icon, but when I select a message to read the app just gives a blank screen or shows the last searched word. Needs text sizing This is a very nice app but this app needs the font size to be user adjustable.

  Great app. Except for not being able to automatically rotate to portrait if locked in landscape. You have to close it down and restart it after switching to portrait. It would be a 5 star app if they could figure this out.

  I just find it really aggravating that after paying full price for this app (that I do love and use daily) I have to pay an extra fee to use their voice search. But actually I just realized while typing this that I can just use the voice search on my keypad lol. But still shame on this dictionary app for being money hungry!   I am an avid reader do this dictionary is of great importance to me. The fact alone that is has the voice feature is worth 5 stars. Thesaurus, example sentences and the option to save favorites is well worth what I paid for it. The only thing I would add is the ability to somehow intergrade it into the iBook app or make it more easily accessible while using multiple readers.

  I've tried a few dictionary apps, and this is the best I've found. For someone who likes to look up words independent of working on a note, it's convenient to have a standalone app, and the dictionary is larger than the others I've tried. The GUI and stability issues of past versions seem to have been resolved now with a more native interface. My one complaint is that one needs a network connection to view etymologies, but that's usually not an issue. Overall, this is the dictionary to have.

  I really like the app because it allows me to look up words, meaning and it also has a thesaurus. Also, for a non-native English speaker is good to have the pronunciation. Although, the only down side is that it does not include verb tense. That would be really helpful, specially for irregular verbs.

  I use this and the companion thesaurus daily. We all know the concept of the dictionary, but this is simple to use and reasonably comprehensive. I've had it well over a year and have never run into technical glitches. I like the pronunciation function that says the word if I don't know the proper pronunciation.

  I have been a dictionary user since release, and this is one app that has gotten better with age. While it would be nice if they put out specials where you can buy all of its (very useful) DLC into one affordable package, it still is worth every penny. Even if you didn't purchase any DLC, you are getting a robust app that outstrips other dictionary apps. And what I like about the DLC is that you just buy what you need. But each DLC makes very significant and positive additions to the app, so it is, at least, worth looking in to. To sum up: A great app that keeps getting better. You don't have to buy any DLC for this to be a great app, but the DLC is worthwhile as well. Enjoy.
