I'm very happy with this app. It doesn't put my ipad up to par with a true Laptop, but it comes in quite handy in a pinch. I have no issues lightly formatting a document, then emailing it to myself to do some final changes on my PC. I've tried several of these word processor type apps, and this one is the best of the bunch. I'm giving it five stars until a better one comes along.
You.
So far this app seems good enough (since I bailed on Quikoffice once Google took it over and dropped Dropbox). But one of the little flaws is that, when working on a double-spaced document, the text select viewer does not show the line of text needing to be highlighted (selected). What a pain! Please fix this!
This app is extremely useful, and I'm very happy with it. The only problem I've run into so far is with line spacing. It seems that the line spacing doesn't change or changes when I don't want it to: for instance, in one of my double-spaced documents, the line spacing kept shifting back and forth from that to single-spaced. Maybe a patch could be made for this minor problem? Other than that, very nice.
Office2HD is the best app I ver bought for $1. If I had known how good it is, I would have paid the reguarl price. It's competition on my iPad 2 are QuickOffice and Textilus. QuickOffice was purchased by Google and then neutered. It was a fine enough office app, though it lacked sharing options, such as opening documents in other iPad apps. Textilus is a great word processed that keeps getting better with frequent updates. I highly recommend it, except for business use. I recommend Office2HD for business use. I have 3 killer business uses and Office2HD excels at all of them. First, I need to track changes. Office2HD tracks changes and shows a nice box of who made the changes and what they are. Second, I need to make outlines. Office2HD makes lists with sublists that go aboutabout a dozen levels deep. Third, I need to be able to save documents in other apps on my iPad, preferably Documents by Readdle. Office2HD has an "Open In" dialogue and built in support for saving to about a dozen cloud storage services. Like I said, best $1 I ever spent. That being said, the presentation app could use a few more bells and whistles, like perhaps, a bell, whistle, or animation. The app also unceremoniously crashed on me during my first use. This is normal, as I often install and remove apps but I do not often restart my iPad. One of these days I will reset it to factor settings and start a new, or I will buy a new iPad. But I digress, why would I give five stars to a non-perfect app? Because as far as office suite's go on the iPad, this is as perfect as perfect gets. As an aside, all iPad office apps are challenged by iWork and Quickoffice. Apple is giving iWork to any new iPad or iPhone purchaser. Google is giving away it's neutered version of QuickOffice. I myself was holding out for a new phone or iPad sometime this year when I saw a deal on Office2HD. Sure, I expected Office2HD to be obsolete when I have iWork, but until then, it is useful. I recommend Byte2 continues its aggressive pricing of Office2HD, because this year is probably the last year it will ever have to sell Office2HD.
Will save as .doc All my document problems just went away!
This is one of my favorite apps!
This app is sooooo much better than any others I have tried. It is easy to use and full featured. I have been looking for a word processing app that would let me edit and save docs that are in dropbox without dragging them in and out. This is the app I needed so that I can do all of my work on my ipad and don't have to drag my laptop back and forth to work every day. Thank you for making my life easier.
Maybe it is the only app that you can insert breaks, sections and columns on text. Insert lateral comments is great. Probably the closest app to the real Word editor. Some crashes has been noticed.
I was able to easily open and edit an Excel document, as advertised! Awesome!
Very helpful for my work but, needs updating!!!
Tried a few (cloud on, documents unlimited, etc) which worked, but the interfaces were too clunky. This retained the editing functionality, smooth interface, and direct save to Dropbox functions that I was looking for.
When I try to use Siri voice input – it works sometimes and other times crashes the app– If they fix it it will be great
I bought both,office2&HD.I think This's the best office app!
With Google indicating QuickOffice would not work with Dropbox moving fwd the search was on for another suite. Thus far I have found Office^2 a great upgrade over Pro HD. Thanks Google!
My Belkin bluetooth keyboard can enter text but not by the method they mention in the user guide. The cursor keys are not available on the screen to move around the screen at the outset of entry into the program. If I move to a cell in Excel with my finger, then my cursor keys work. Once the cursor keys, and if I try to enter text, any text entry or Return moves the cursor to the right. If I tap on the screen to enter data in the "Enter value", Enter will enter the text, but then the cursor keys don't move. Company did say they will fix this in the future but I'm still waiting.
I bought this package mostly for using it to produce Arabic documents. Word is good for handling right to left issues present at previous versions. But I still experience the following issues: 1- with Bullets' and numbering. When I use numbering dots appear to the right of the numbers. 2- When I open a document imported from Microsoft word, the bullets and numbers appear on the left and the rest of the text appear to the right. 3- Tables are always appear left to right. Slides in the presentation still don't support right to left orientation. I will give it 3 stars for Arabic writing.
I purchased Office2 after upgrading to iOS7 and discovering my version of QuickOffice didn't like it, and QuickOffice no longer supports any cloud other than Google Drive. Office 2 was rated the best in the reviews I read, and it good but not yet great. Easy functionality and interface, and I can manage my documents just fine. The biggest issue is that you currently cannot do a Save As to your cloud drive(s), but their tech support told me that will be fixed. When it is, I'd give it 5 stars. BTW, their support gets 5 stars. I got a reply to my query within hours with a thorough explanation. Outstanding support.
Hands down, best Word editor for iPad. Fast and with every feature I need. A great app! New interface looks great and works great. I don't use this for fancy layout, just many Word documents of text with basic formatting and I don't have any issues. SkyDrive integration is essential for me, too.
This version is a major improvement. Previous versions crashed consistently, and I had all but given up on this app. But I just opened about 20 files, including ones with embedded graphics and dozens of tracked changes, and none of them crashed.
The only reason I gave this one star is it will not let me give it "0". This app repeatedly crashed. It corrupted my document on Dropbox and I could not open it any more on my laptop. Fortunately I had saved the document somewhere else or I would have lost a whole lot of work. I have removed it from my iPad. Wish I could get my money back.
When I turn on track changes and edit a document that was originally created in MS Word and then save it within Office^2 HD, I can no longer open the document in MS Word. I searched for help on this problem online but found nothing. Am I really the only one having this problem? I doubt it.
What a nice little application ruined by such a small failure. The inability to change font and size may be small to some users but to some it's a pretty big deal.
If you don't mind typing all your documents in Helvetica 11pt you may be satisfied with this app. If, however, you want to be able to change fonts, and font sizes etc...you will be very frustrated because it CONSTANTLY reverts back to Helvetica 11. If I want another font I must constantly change it back many times to keep that font in place. For no reason. Sometimes looks ok and I save my file and when I reopen it some of the writing (but not all) has reverted to Helvetica. Once every other word was Helvetica! Also the little font size wheel is hard to use and just keeps rolling and is not as user friendly as some selection wheels. Finally when you select a word to cut a section, you can't highlight backward. ever. so you must always start with the FIrst word of any section you want to "cut". Doesn't seem like it would be too tricky to fix some of these things and make this a user friendly app.
I can no longer use the app. It opens saying to click on the folders on the left. Problem is that the column that is supposed to be on the left is now on the right, with no folders or any way to start a file. Perhaps there is a conflict with another app but right now the app is useless and I'm out $8. T
I am using an iPad Air and am not able to save any of my excel workbooks. It gets stuck on a "loading" overlay or just freezes all together. So far it's been a complete waste of money.
Ap doesn't even attempt to handle graphics. You would think that Apple would resolve all of these issues. Face it, Numbers is a failed ap. No matter what other aps you try to fix all of the bugs, they don't work. Without the ability to handle and edit complex excel spreadsheets, Apple products just don't work in the real business world. This Ipad Air is garbage.
I was not aware until after purchasing this program, how limited it is. It does not do charts and copying from one cell to another cannot be done. Had I known this, I would not have bought it. It is a barebones spread sheet with limited useability.I have learned that when examining reviews one must be very careful about what is NOT said. I wonder who does post positive reviews.
You might as well type on your notepad. This app freezes, crashes, and mixes letters around after it has been saved. Do not create a table in this app. It will not remove it, if needed. It will crash on you if you try any modifications to a previous document. It is a jumbled mess that needs to be fixed. I used to rave about this app until all the problems occurred. Now, I cannot do any business from it, without it acting up. Don't waste your time or money. Look elsewhere.
Wish I would have never spent $8 for this app. I have been using quick office for 2 years now and was looking for something better. after reading the reviews this seemed to be pretty good but I am going back to Quickoffice. This app is slow and does not respond quickly to commands. The font always defaults to Helvetica which is not a common font. Should be a feature in settings tab to set default font to users preference.
Ever since I updated to the latest version, the app is freezing. It's freezes while scrolling down in the documents. It also freezes when I use the Find command. Please fix this. Also, have option to change the page color. An option to hide the toolbar while typing would also be nice. And why isn't this app universal, like other office apps?
I have found the app less than user friendly.... it crashes quite frequently when trying to open .xlsx files in particular. I am hoping there will be updates soon that fix these issues. I could use it for so much but often go back to google drive.
The file manager and cloud service support is the best hands down (supports WebDAV!). Seems to corrupt xlsx files; which is a deal breaker. I open a file from WebDAV, make a small change, then save. When I try to open with MS Office 2011 Mac, it fails with a corrupt file error. Attempts to repair the file were unsuccessful.
This could be a top office app but a document still will not hold its selected initial font setting when saved and reloaded. Just not usable when limited by this issue. Always reverts to Helvetica. So close but this still persists.
Once again, a fine ap that is made useless by the fact that it's missing some simple -- but incredibly key -- functions. This app isn't alone in this, and I simply cannot understand why iPad office apps don't understand that if you're missing some basics, the app is useless to many people. And what are those basics? Simple: There is no way to move or copy an entire folder structure. But far, far worse is the fact that you can't SYCN anything other than single files with Dropbox. You can't create and sync folder structures for drop box, or at least I haven't found a way. Apple products are, quite simply, data roach motels. Apple wants your data, and wants to keep it, and the developers of these apps often aide them. If you're only working with one file at a time, or you have no concept of using directories to sort and save your work, this app is great. If you need a real word processor that understands basic file handling, move off the iPad and onto something else.
Many of my clients use strikethrough in Word documents to show lines that need to be cut. This doesn't support strikethrough. I can't use it as strikethrough text appears indistinguishable from regular text.
I chose this to replace Quickoffice, which is phasing out cloud support. The access to cloud services in Office2HD is not intuitive, but I managed to figure that out. Wish I hadn't; I edited a file and saved on Dropbox as a docx file, and then couldn't open elsewhere. Long story short, the file was corrupted, and although I managed to open it in Office2HD, I couldn't save it anywhere else and had to retype the whole thing in order to save my work. We were not amused. This is too buggy to be a productivity app on which one can rely.
I moved to Office2 HD from Quickoffice, looking for DropBox access. It works fine for me on the iPad, but now the docx I’ve edited on the iPad in Office2 HD are inaccessible to me on my Mac. In MS Word I now get an error stating the file is corrupt. Not what I hoped for in an App.
I really like this app because it links to my dropbox and email. However, I always have difficulty with documents saving the layout settings and font settings. I do not like "Helvetica" and it constantly changes back to it. Also, I have to have double spaced papers for school and it doesn't keep the settings after I change them. Very frustrating
I'm having the same issue with the font reverting back to the default when I reopen a file or sometimes even in the middle of typing. I also have an issue where I will set the tab and paragraph spacing and it will change either mid document or the next time it is opened. If these problems aren't fixed soon, I will be getting rid of this app.
So I've been ripped off for $8. This "app" crashes on any excel file that I attempt to open. Useless.
Impressive, but severely hampered by a flaw that raises questions about the planning that went into creating the app. Touch magnification of words takes place below the finger used to touch the screen. This makes it difficult to insert characters when editing. With every other application, even the most basic, (like this one I am typing the review in for instance ) such magnification pops up above the area touched so the user can see the word and exactly where in it where the cursor is. That way letters (characters) can be added. I will go back to using quick office until that is fixed.
Dozen plus crashes in one day. Totally unacceptable. Major formatting issues when going between dropbox and program. Large paragraphs will either not delete or cause a crash. Italic and bold formatting bugs. Tons of font support issues. I tried this on a simple 15 page document with lots of track changes already embedded, and it simply couldn't handle serious editing. I suffered over a dozen crashes in one sitting, with data loss. Autosaving to a local folder does me no good, as even large copy/paste actions cause a crash. I was never able to copy two large paragraphs with about thirty track changes from one autosaved file to the original dropbox copy. This is not worth the money. Not even close. To think of editing a serious document like my 200+ page dissertation on this is truly laughable. shame on them for charging for this.

Could be the best Office compatible app out there. Still has some basic in-implemented features such as the inability to copy PowerPoint presentation objects. Fix these types of things and 5 stars!
I had this app since the beginning of ipad. I wonder why there is no search for file. I have saved so much in this app. Finding old file is difficult.
I bought this app for tracked changes. I tried inserting tracked changes on a 2-page file. The program crashed repeatedly when I tried to insert a comment. Although I successfully tracked the deletion of a word in the document, when the saved version of the file was reopened there were no changes reflected.
I thought this would be perfect for my needs. Track changes, edit comments, formatting capabilities, access Google Drive and Dropbox... But then error message when trying to save. All my work lost!! Aargh! More than frustrating. A waste of my time and my money. Unless this can be fixed soon or you can somehow give me the last hour and a half of my time back, I will be requesting refund.
Great feature set, nice design. This would be my go-to office app on my iPad, if it didn’t crash so frequently. Other apps crash rarely or never. This one crashes at least once in most use sessions, and often multiple times. It needs some serious fixing to make it usable.
This is one of the best Office apps. It is not perfect, but it does a great job rendering Word documents on your screen, has tracked changes, commenting and footnotes. When you edit a file and return it back to Windows, the layout is preserved, so excellent for receiving and sending documents for review. The greatest flaw is that it often crashes on Excel charts pasted in the document. If they could solve this, it would be a great app.
The only problem I'm having is that the font reverts back to Helvetica 11pt instead of staying on what I set on. If the next update could fix that I'd be golden.
I got this to edit a long document with tables and images. It hangs every time I load the document. The tech support has been courteous and tried to help but failed to solve the problem.
I like the app overall. However, when printing a word doc to an airshare printer, (I don't know if the problem replicates on a standard wifi printer.) The page break does not work effectively and prints some pages correctly, and others half a page before advancing to the next sheet of paper to continue the print job. There is no pattern to this, it seems to occur at random. Also, when attempting to import/export a .ppt presentation, the file corrupts and is completely garbled beyond usability to the email recipient. Can we get some bug fixes for this ASAP? Thanks!
when editing a file from drop box and trying to save i get an error saying folder is read only then office2 crashes.
All data was lost when upgrading to the new ipad operating system.
I have had a lot of problems with this app, the worst of which is it's tendency to crash when trying to open documents longer than 15 pages or so.
I just purchased Office2 HD about 3 hours ago and have been trying to use it. I went to my email where I had an Exel file attached. Touched the attachment and the preview opened, I pressed the open in option and opened the file in Office2 HD. The program completely froze. The file did not open. I was left with a blank screen with the menus around it and none of the buttons would work. I shut down the program and restarted it. Now the file showed up in the list on the left. I tried to open it from the list and I got the file opening spinning wheel icon. Nothing happened after that. I waited about 5 minutes and the file had not loaded. I have now tried a couple of more times and I now have the same file listed 4 times and it still hasen't opened. My iPad is only about 2 weeks old, it is the latest type with the current OS. At this point I want my $7.99 back so that I can buy something that actually functions.
Nice suite. I had it on my iPhone for a year. For my work on that and my iPad mini I have <250 mb files and no hiccups. And I have only ever needed Doc format files ( not docX) and didn't buy in to MS and their proprietary format schemes. So, PC-Dropbox-iPad-iPhone system working for me fine with this app!
I read a lot of reviews but have never written one until now. This is the worst app I've ever had the misfortune to purchase. It is buggy, crashes repeatedly and is very difficult to use. Saved documents "mutate" upon opening - I've spend half a day attempting to get bullets within a table to be applied consistently - which still hasn't happened. Frustration as a by-product of using this app is an under statement...
Rely constantly on Office2 HD for word processing and spreadsheets. Don’t even use my PC anymore for these tasks. Yes, there are some shortcomings, but I have not found any app more useful or reliable (Docs to Go and Notability are on my shortlist…can’t even remember all the other ones I have purchased and tried.) Like the choices of backing up to various cloud services. Support is amazing – when I have had a problem, I get an answer within hours, most often explaining what I need to do to use the app effectively, but other times acknowledging what I need and telling me this is a work in progress. Given the support, I believe the improvements are forthcoming. At this point, frustration is that I have to close a document or spreadsheet to save it – but at least it can be saved…some comments from users indicate they have not learned how to save their work with this app and blame the app.
Despite the several one star reviews, I thought "Well, I'm only using a simple little document. I just need to be able to switch back and forth from this to excel." The file is 16KB and it either doesn't open the file or the app crashes soon after it opens. Completely useless, save your $8.
The program can barely load an excel files. If it does load them, then it crashes everytime it tries to autosave. Previous reviewer said that it works with smaller files, but that hasn't been my experience. I've tried different file sizes and none of them load quickly even when stores locally. Absolutely, not worth a purchase yet, unless it is updated.
I use QuickOffice with my Google Apps for Business account. It works fine but has issues with a number of file types. I have to open some things in Drive. Not useful at all. Despite the negative reviews I'd read, I bought this. I had it on my iPhone. Loved it. The iPad version is just as good. If you need to edit a strange variety of docs like RTF, TXT as well as basic Google Docs, this is a killer app.
Surprised by the terrible reviews. So far the editing / track changes in word works great. Typing is quick and easy. I just wish I could "add a comment" like in regular word. I haven't tried to do much else, but will be working in ppt in a few weeks and will write another review at that time.
