  Hello, love the app, bought it when it was 3x the price, still glad I did. One problem: if I have a guitar plugged in, I usually use an apogee jam, and I minimize the app, or close, or if the app flakes out, and then return when the guitar isn't plugged in, it shrieks louder than any glitch ever. I had monitor headphones on the first time and my ears rang for three days. I'm not joking, not exaggerating, it was the first day I had the apogee connection, and I have a flinch of fear wash over me every time I open the app now. If there's anything you can do about it, it would be nice.. Could you imagine it happening while plugged into a PA at a live show? That said.. I'm looking forward to updates, and on my wishlist is only individual track volume automation for fade outs and so forth—would allow me to get a lot further before sending to my Mac. And of course any developments in inter-app midi, importing samples, etc. I'd really like to program midi in garageband and have it use Magellan sort of like a vst. Eh, I can dream.   Plug headphones without built in microphone to record through phone mic and not record the metronome and everything in the background. Being able to record anywhere is priceless and the virtual amps & instruments are great. Only thing i find annoying is the kick drum is way to loud even with the sensitivity turned off. Would be nice to be able and separately customize the levels of each drum piece. Thank you for a great app apple!

  Hey, I am going to download this is it has Dubstep. Well, in other words, I know it does, but do you have to get the full version? Or like does it come with it? This is all I'm getting it for so if anybody had any other ideas, let me know. I've tryed "DubPad" and it's not too great. I know they have some really good ones for iPad, but I have iPhone 4S. Anybody suggest anything? Let me know.

  The iphone version has a few problems. First the string interface dosnt allow for realistic orchestra sounds. The axulary controls are specific enough to get the right kind of back ground. In adition some extra instruments would be nice... Like brass, percussion (not just a trap set), more axilary(with the ability to control them). It would allow for a bigger variety of sound and as a percussionist id reeeeallllyyy like a marimba/vibraphone/xylaphone option!

  This is an excellent app for putting down ideas that really sound good. For those that have a negative review, they need to stop being a cheap skate and go in the studio. If you can't do that then build your own project studio. Leave the rest to the pros and just have fun with this cool little app because it is not a DAW. Peace

  Absolutely the worst app I have ever seen, does not shut down, even after deleted, it was showing up as recording in the red bar at top of screen. Tap to create new song, returns to home screen. Have not been able to record a thing. Glad I didn't waste any money on this one.

  This is an update to my earlier post. I found the instructions ("help for this app") and was able to download a link icon to the website onto my homescreen. Sorry about the premature panic. Ysy for Apple. So frustrating. I'm not totally stupid (PhD in biochemistry & cellular biology) but I'm a novice with respect to this kind of app and I could really use an instructional guide or manual. I can't be the only one who could benefit from a manual for thus app!!

• Indispensable App

  From beginner to expert, this is an absolute must have app. For beginners, it is simple enough to actually teach you more about song making. For experts, it has just enough tools to lay down a demo track for any song idea you may have. The ONLY feature I wish it would add/improve is a vocals track. Something similar to the ImproVox app, including presets for popular vocal effects (compression, pitch correction, EQ, etc...) to allow users to lay down great sounding vocals to the songs. Then, GarageBand for iOS would be a complete force to be reckoned with. I only wish this tool was available back when I was in a band in high school. We put so much time and effort into making the songs we recorded sound great, yet they still sounded like crap. With GarageBand, everything sounds great! Not 100% radio quality, but extraordinarily close. It excites me about what will be possible in a few years. Studios may become a thing of the past.

  Love the app!! Though sometimes I have issues… I created two great new songs that I cannot play. The app will crash when I attempt to open them. I hope the Apple Team will address this issue with a new update to make sure this will not happen again. Otherwise it is a great app! It was worth every penny.

  This app is literally perfect besides the optimizing performance. If that just went away, it would be flawless. It takes so long to optimize a song especially when it's a long one. Would recommend they find a way to make that process faster. Other than that, minor performance bugs need to be attended to. Great app

  This is one of the best apps out there for any type of game or serious beat making. But an addition of a trumpet or chimes, maybe a clarinet or an English horn would make this app even better. Overall a great app, just needs a bit more to be perfect.

• Versatility

  I love this app. I use GarageBand more than anything else. It's been very straightforward in my opinion and I like that there are a lot of sounds to choose from. However, I think it could use a few more, like more orchestral sections, more versatility options for existing sounds, and whatnot. It would give all of the users to create a sound that is closer to what they hear in their minds. Other than that, I find this app superb.

  I bought Garageband before iOS7 was released, I loved it. After iOS7, it froze and crashed constantly, it couldn't export a song without crashing. I reinstalled, wiped, reinstalled, etc. It now operates smoothly and back to being my favourite app. Cheers.

  It's a great high quality app, but they need to add more kinds of each instrument (especially the guitars and bass). Horns would be a cool thing to add along with woodwind and even harps. Garage band is PERFECT besides that!

  This is a multitrack recording app for beginners. If you expect it to work the way programs costing hundreds of dollars work, dream on. LThis is a lot of app for the $5 in app purchase. Simple, but effective. If you are a musician but not a recording engineer, you will like this app. A couple features I'd like to see: - more export options like midi files open with other apps - better eq. The amp models are nice, but the other instruments need some eq options.

  When I downloaded Garage Band I was expecting the best studio app ever. However , I was let down . You can not do anything on the app it is basic . I thought Apple products were the exact opposite of basic . There is no sound effects , no special editing , no anything . It is a boring app ! On top of it all it takes up a lot of GBs !!   I've been using this app in a while. It's easy to use, the sounds come out good, and it contains almost everything we need for recording a demo. However one thing it lacks is that if it could have an function of editing the trill effect especially for playing instrument like violin it would be perfect! Without the trill, the strings are of no use and don't sound good. Totally hoping we can have this function..

  Congratulations, Apple!! With the new 2.0 version for iphone you have successfully made this app totally inaccessible, unrecordable and totally USELESS! Ya see, I was very pleased before because of the on-board compressor(nice) and the sound quality that this app produces. I use a totally other program to mix, eq, and edit tracks, regions. So I strictly record raw tracks on GB and export to the other app. As soon as I downloaded the 2.0 update I realized that I had made a huge mistake. Because EVERY SINGLE TIME I press ANY button or record ANYTHING or play ANYTHING back, it "optimizes performance for me". This takes about 1 to 10 minutes, depending on the size of the song , number of tracks , etc. At first though I thought "ah. Well...... Ok?.....I guess....Better sound quality, right ?" Wrong. Instead it totally glitches out the input levels and eq on a random track/s and makes the track sound like it is BLARING out of a old busted, rusty 1985 Ford Tempo speaker... The only way to fix this is to select that track/s ( while running) and switch to the amp mode... It will cut off for a second and then return to normal.. (I'm guessing that this somehow reverses the crappy "optimization" that just took place.. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand THAT must be why it almost IMMEDIATELY, and so courteously OPTIMIZES AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for wasting about 3 weeks of my life and some really good material !! Hopefully I can TRY to export the single tracks to my other program and save them there until I purchase some REAL recording software. Such a shame. It USED to be a really decent program.. Take the 10 or so dollars I paid for this app and fund a whole other update. The $10 should cover it, apparently.... Wow... I'm so frustrated ... Take the optimization crap OFF of Garage Band!!!!!!!or make it able to toggle on or off or make it actually OPTIMIZE the audio. Please.. I don't need my music to sound like volume 100 on dad's ol' 8 track player.. Fix it... Now... Right now.... ......... Is it fixed yet? No?? Maybe you need to "optimize your performance". Eh? See how that works for ya ..... Ok. I have ranted enough... Seriously though . The new update..... Garbage. It's Garbage Band, now. Yea. I said it. Fix it. K

• Good app for what it's worth

  I think that this app does what it's supposed to. This isn't an app for professional recording in my honest opinion, but more of something to get you introduced to music, or to make a catchy beat while sitting on the toilet, or if you're bored on a flight. For production purposes however, I wouldn't recommend it because there isn't enough to it. I think you should buy it if you're looking for something to mess around with, but if you're really looking for something for professional recording, I would look elsewhere.

  I just can't seem to make actual music with it. I find it kinda hard. Guess I just don't know how. (And I'm a bit of a musician myself.) But, to be a bit fair, I'll give it five stars because it looks like they put quite a bit of work into this. Just wish I knew how to ACTUALLY use it.

  A lot of the one star ratings are coming from people who bought the app for $4.99 and “lost” their instruments when they updated. You can easily restore the purchase from the app. The app works great, regardless of the reviews. The people who wrote them just didn’t know how to restore the instruments.
