Description

Shoulder Decide - Point of Care Patient Education for Healthcare Professionals by Orca Health (formerly Orca MD)

This version of ShoulderDecide combines a new design with access to surgical videos and enables you to Draw / Annotate images and Send / Prescribe Digital Handouts (app content) to your patients.

ShoulderDecide is free for personal use only.

Generate your own ‘Prescribable’ Digital Handouts, using photo or video capture. All Digital Handouts you Send to your patients will be hosted on HIPAA-secure servers by Orca.

This will allow you to take pictures and videos of your patient or patient’s medical imagery (MRIs, x-rays, etc.), Draw on those images and add them to the Digital Handouts you Send to your patients. This feature will help you deliver them personalized patient education, which will, in turn, improve their satisfaction and retention--all while enhancing their understanding of their condition and treatment.

We know privacy is important to you and your patients, as a result, all of these Digital Handouts will be hosted by Orca and is available to your patients via a HIPAA-secure web portal, which will be linked to your search-optimized Orca Health Specialist Profile.

ShoulderDecide is a multisensory learning tool, which empowers healthcare specialists to teach their patients more quickly, efficiently and effectively. The app includes interactive 3D animations that permit you to explore and explain anatomy like never before.

Studies show that 3D animations are more effective than text, physical models and 2D illustrations, in communicating health information.

Lastly, augmented reality provides a unique way to enhance comprehension in-context, by enhancing the patient’s worldview with relevant visual and auditory information.

Satisfaction levels among people who are well-informed about their health are much higher than those who don’t understand their condition or treatment. Patients who interact with information via multiple sensory inputs feel more satisfied with the course of action they choose and the care they receive.

ShoulderDecide is free to download and free for personal use. ShoulderDecide's in-app subscription adds the Draw / Annotation and Send / Prescribe features to the free-for-personal-use Anatomy, Condition and Procedure content and is available through an auto-renewing subscription.

The in-app subscription also includes ongoing HIPAA-secure hosting of Prescribed Digital Handouts as well as regular content updates. As long as you subscribe to these tools, there's no limit to the Digital Handouts we will host for you and your patients or your licensed professional use of app content.

Please note: At the conclusion of your 14 day free trial, **you will not be automatically charged for this service**.

Two subscription options:
◦ Orca Tools monthly subscription for $20
◦ Orca Tools annual subscription for $200 (a 20% discount on the monthly price)

Subscriptions will be charged to your credit card through your iTunes account. Your subscription will automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. The cost of renewal will be the same as the initial subscription cost. You will not be able to cancel a subscription during the active period. Manage your subscriptions and auto-renewal in the Account Settings after purchase.

Customer Reviews

  • This is pretty awesome.

    by Crankston

I have a problem with my shoulder and this really helps me understand exactly what's wrong. Good 3d models too.

  • Excellent tool for focusing on the rotator cuff.

    by Ed Kaine, OT, RFT

As a therapist for 17 years I'm happy I now have more tools to share the complexity of the body with my patients. ShoulderDecide is an excellent app for getting an idea for how the muscles of the shoulder interact. It shows you the complex interaction of rotator cuff muscles and the large superficial muscles and can play a nice little moving animation to show how they work together. By focusing on just the scapula, clavicle and humerus you get a picture of these complex interactions. The relationship of the back, the neck, and nerves/circulation are not addressed but are with other tools. Great job. Ed Kaine, OT, RFT Publisher of Functional Therapy Magazine

Really nice animations of shoulder movement, and you can see different layers of anatomy performing the movements. Also impressed with all the animations and videos that show various shoulder related conditions.

  • Email problems

    by Kyle Markway

I have difficulty with all the orca products trying to email info to my patients. Rarely have I been able to successfully send something to them

  • Shoulder Pain

    by MasterFlex66

I hurt my shoulder when I was a kid. Occasionally as an adult, it sometimes give me issues. I have used this app to try and understand what is causing my pain and love that it will recommend a Doctor in my area when the pain gets too unbearable!

  • Can't put it down

    by rendragK

Oh my heck, this is so cool. Not only is it cool, but very well made, great design and functionality, and the motion feature blows my mind. Lifting, throwing, and even rowing... so cool.

  • Tons of Content

    by jondohnson

There is a lot of content on this app! I like how it is organized so I don't have to spend hours looking for something specific on the web.

  • Accurate Annotations

    by hollyday2

The annotations really helped me understand the MRIs better.

  • Good Layers

    by sveedee

The layers in the graphics are cool, I can see the shoulder with muscles or without. Same with skin. It's easy to study anatomy that way.

  • Good Specialist Search

    by norgborn2

It's nice to have a specialist search option in the app. Made it really convenient when I was researching a condition.

  • Awesome 3D!

    by Chi ya2

Love the 3D, totally cool that you can do rowing, throwing and lifting.

  • WHERE ARE THE ANNONTATIONS FOR THE SHOULDER?

    by Johnblaxe

Why did you take out the muscles, ligaments, and bone labels for the shoulder? Please fix.

  • Inadequate specialist listings

    by Isthmanian

Description of possible injuries and recommended treatment is good, as well as visuals; however the "find a specialist" function is inadequate. For example in Colorado listed specialists are clustered around the front range, I.e. eastern part of the state with none listed for the western slope.

  • Not what I expected

    by Eman007q

If you are a pt or med student looking to gain a greater appreciation of the shoulder, this app is not for you. No relevant information about anatomy and limited ability to view the shoulder when performing motions. This is shoulder information at it's most basic level....and I can't emphasize "most" enough.

  • My Kid Loves This

    by aannie2

My kid is convinced she is going to be a doctor so I got this for her to look at. It has enough information to be informative but isn't so hard to understand that she is overwhelmed. I like it a lot.

  • Great Video Out

    by chrliechaz

I didn't know what video out was at first but then someone showed me how to plug my iPad into the TV screen and I love it! Now a few of us can look at it, and I can use it in class for a presentation.

  • Plug In To The Big Screen

    by darrdevil

I love that you can plug this app into the big screen. This way you don't have to crowd around a smaller screen to see all the content.

  • Cool Email Feature

    by owensian

I like that you can email or tweet info from the app to other people. It makes it much easier to tell someone about info that might help them.

  • Cool app.

    by TubaD

This app has an really clean look to it, well designed. Good looking images and functionality. Really cool to see the muscles and everything moving.

  • Videos Great

    by swingKidByNight

    The videos were great learning-visuals.

  • Great UI!

    by wolsky1

I love the UI for this App.  So clean and well designed.  The search for a specialist is such a good idea.  For most of us we don't really know where to start when  looking for a physician.

  • Fantastic Self- diagnosing Tool! Now with Video Out!

    by garndiggity

All the awesomeness of this app, combined with the awesomeness of the iPad!! And now combined with the awesomeness of a new video out feature! 3d imaging, videos, x-rays, mri's, and detailed (and narrated) explanations make this a very comprehensive and very useful tool for diagnosing shoulder issues or for simply learning the anatomy! You can even search for a good shoulder doc too! A must have!!

  • Video Out Coolest Thing Ever!

    by segwy

I love the video out feature! Not many apps have it and it is especially helpful in a medical app.

  • Fantastic Surgery Videos!

    by wigbee

The images and videos are fantastic! This has helped me with my understanding of common shoulder surgeries.

  • Best Version Yet

    by dewfaced

With the improved UI the Shoulder is extremely easy to navigate! You will experience more control and more uniformity with this latest version. The new additions to the Conditions section provide valuable information to more injury types! A must have update and a must have app for anyone who has ever had a Shoulder related injury, or for anybody who is in the Medical field.

  • Super Informative

    by caldwellian

My sister seems to dislocate her shoulder a lot, and I found this app and read up on shoulder dislocations (instability). It was neat to see the arthroscopic surgeries and diagrams as well as read some treatment and prevention information. The video out feature let me plug it into the TV and show the fam too! Really cool!

  • Wow!

    by ldsswimmer

I am a massage therapist and this app was perfect for showing my husband how the shoulder works. I suffer from a lot of shoulder pain and it has been really hard to explain to my husband which muscles to massage but this apps gives a perfect view of the muscles (and how they work when you are throwing or lifting something) and I can point out to my husband where to give me a massage. Great app and good use of the iPad!

  • Like Annotations

    by G peachy

As a medical student I feel this app would be really helpful in understanding the body and its functions. I like the annotations throughout the app to help memorize particular parts of the body.

  • Best of Orca's Apps

    by manny skywalker

This one I felt was the best and most interactive. The videos were graphic and informative, giving a true depiction of what goes on in surgery type situations. The information was informative and interesting. The finding of a specialist made was like a completion where if I had a question it pointed me in the direction to go.

  • Ease of Use and Looks Great!

    by thedesigngurl

This app is super easy to use. I can see the way my muscles, tendons and bones are working (or not working) together! I also really liked that I could view different problems and look for a specialist in my area, depending on what my needs might be. Well worth the $4.99!

  • Beware! No Other Language Support!

by Buying a pig in a poke

Hi,ORCA MD team, I bought your shoulder decide ipad app, and found there is no Chinese language support. I also sent an E-mail to you and got no reply. If you do not have any other language support, please delete those multi-languages support from app description.
