Description

Follow the epic storylines of the original The Lord of the Rings trilogy reimagined with the humor and endless variety of LEGO gameplay. Relive the legend of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King through LEGO minifigures, as they explore wonders and solve timeless riddles. • Billions of Studs? Impossible!

  Generally this is a good “port” of the console game but there’s one issue that really bugs me - it is impossible to acquire enough studs to unlock more than a character or two. Thankfully you can complete the storyline without buying additional characters but there’s no way to reach 100% completion without doing so. I shouldn’t have to pay for this kind of thing when I’ve already paid for the game.

  I love Lord Of The Rings a lot and lego, but why can't I get Isildur over the lava?! I mean I've already beaten the P.S.3 version! Anyway it's great and I love that they include the character Tom Bombadil even if he's not in the movie. Over all good

  In general this app is ok.My son has it on xbox 360 let me tell you it is much better it has a lot better gameplay experience and don't get this app if you have under 16 GB. This app take up to 1.5 GB not a waist of money but not that good. But it is worth the 5 bucks but I would use that money somewhere else.

  Cute game now that it will finally load and open. Takes a little time to figure out the controls, but not too bad. Was a bit frustrated since it took forever to download. Then it wouldn't start until I thought to restart my iPad. New apps don't usually require that.

  buggy. In the Journey's End, the last projectile is unable to be obtained because the last group of orcs. Jump over the wall and disappear into the ground. Scrubbed it and re-downloaded it, and now Shelob freaks out and crawls in circles. Irritating that I can't finish it.

  I love the game, but I hate how it cuts out all of the marshes and Isengaurd. I just bought musical attacks, and it won't work, even though I have it on. Also, on journey's end, I can't do an elf pole thing. One pole flickers, and I fall off. I also think that $4,000,000,000 for studs times ten is CRAZY, even though it is a good extra. Other than that I love the game and the characters.

  Does anyone else have a problem where on the gates of Mordor level the Orc which I am assuming are carrying the last arrow fall through the ground so u can't get the arrow plz fix this also controls could be better and the character pacts are too expensive or there are too many other than that it is a good game

  This game is a pretty cool game but I don't understand the troll mission // chapter. The troll attacks and you build a LEGO object and you can't get to the other side, you can't even jump with any characters. 5 star rating, keep on making LEGO games, Warner Bros! Keep it up.

  Love game but crashes every time I get to a cut seen in shire so I have done 1 level countless times because by the time I get to gandalf it crashes. I am going to post the same thing every weekend until fixed. I love the little I have been able to play

• Crashes. Can't play

  I won't bash the game itself because it looks awesome, but it won't let me play it. I get as much as past the loading screen after touching "New Game", and I see the first few seconds and then it cuts off, sending me to my home screen. If the developers could gladly fix this for the IPod touch, I'd be happy to play it. :)

  I really love this game! I adore LOTR and this app just fuels my obsession. It can be a bit confusing sometimes, but it makes me wanna keep playing to find everything there is to find. I just wish we could play with the characters we create in the 'Character Creator'. That would make this game perfect. It practically already is though.

  I absolutely love the Lego series games. They're always accurate and so fun to play. That said, I hate to say that LEGO LOTR lacks from the same syndrome found in most LEGO games on iOS: the controls! Yes, there are two different control schemes, which is great. Unfortunately, neither of them work well. Casual Control isn't as intuitive as it could've been; it lacks precision and depth. You don't feel like you have proper control of your character, and oftentimes features and moves (such as blocking and charged attacks) are covered up in the gestures required to execute the moves. Virtual Control, which is usually my favorite type of control in any touchscreen game, is also lacking. First and foremost, the physical buttons are crammed at the lowest corners of the device (on iPhones), making the buttons difficult to reach and interact with. Second, the action buttons on the right are extremely small, oftentimes forcing the player to tap on the button and miss it; not only that, but if the buttons are not hit precisely, then the action is not executed. Yes, I do understand that the buttons were made so small and crammed to the edges to make more room for the onscreen action to take place, but I find the cramped spacing very frustrating. Finally, as if all this wasn't bad enough, there isn't a button customizing feature that would allow a player to relocate and enlarge the controls. In a word, I am frustrated. The LEGO games are so enjoyable, yet they are crippled by the way players are forced to interact with the characters. With a quick software update, LEGO LOTR could be a 5-star home run. Please adjust the controls soon!

  The Lego Lotr port is not like your average Lego game (but at the same time it is). The game mechanics, puzzles, traps, depth, etc all move and act like any other lego game. That gives it a plus in my book. Controls are well enough to play the game through, even if you use the touch controls over the d pad (which can be switched in the in game menu little scroll button in the top right corner). Switching to d pad gave the game a better handling and overall was more enjoyable to play. I am, however, not entirely satisfied with the character system. Some characters like Aragorn or Sam or Sauran are overpowered and have a myriad of powers while standard soldiers often just have an attack. I wish they took a more affordable approach to the characters as well because all of the worth while characters cost 1,000,000 or more studs, which is quite hard to manage without stud multipliers, who cost millions themselves. Audio wise, the soundtrack is phenomenal; it's straight from the movie. Voice overs are similar. Sound effects are standard and don't detract from the game. I'm more than satisfied with their performance. As a port of the game, I am impressed. You have to remember this is an iPod, and with no offense to the developers and creators of the software and iOS, it's full gaming potential has not yet been realized. If you wanted a hardcore gaming experience of this game look towards Sony and Microsoft. The Lego Group's ios port of the Lotr is a great casual gamer, albeit with a few flaws, but nobody is perfect. 4.5 stars overall It's a kids game ,really, but any adult who likes lego's style and humor will enjoy this game.

  I love this game and it's worth every stud but, when I spent all my studs on a stud multiplyer that didn't work I resent buying the game. I really want the 2x stud multiplyer to work for iPod touch 5. Please please please fix. I stopped playing after unlocking everything and everyone but now I can't afford a single one when my studs don't multiply.

  I like the game. I do. But I'm also into FINISHING games, and I just can't see that happening here. Let me clarify. I've completed the game twice. I collect all of the studs, have found all of the characters, completed all quests, found all profiles. However, I'm at about 75%. The only item I've ever bought with my studs is the 2x multiplier, because it's the only multiplier I could afford. There is no way I will ever save 4 BILLION (yes, billion) studs for the 10x, as it's been a huge grind just to get halfway to the 8 million required for the 4x multiplier. I'm tempted to spend the 4.99 just to buy it, but what's the point? So I could more easily grind to unlock the other things now that I've finished the game? I'm sure that's what they want you to do, but it seems wrong. By the way -- the trick to jumping high with Legolas is not to do a quick double jump, but to wait until he's almost done with his jump and then jump again. Once I figured that out things went very smoothly.

  Alright I started this game with an opened mind regardless of the reviews I read...totally ignored others trying to warn me....and what did I get...exactly what everyone said...the controls are terrible...plain and simple...even wit changing them....it's still terrible...I have been stuck trying to beat the cave troll for days now...finally just gave up because I just couldn't get the fracking character to do what I wanted...it got old real fast...gotta fix that...and I'll give it five stars...

  Overall it's a good game, and it took me a decent amount of time to get through everything. I found myself left with only one thing to do, and that was get money so I could complete the game 100%. That's taking quite a while, but I found a good way.

  Great game First don't listen to the reviews about the controls, those idiots just haven't figured out how to change it (took me a full minute) Second this game follows very closely with Middle Earth Lore and those who are true LOTR fans would understand why Merry has a fishing rod (he and his relatives are one of the few Hobbits that live near a river and can swim) and Pippin is always eating ( remember when Gandalf arrives at Isengard and Meriadoc and Pippin greet them ) The graphics and scenery are exceptional. Some people are expecting Skyrim type scenery but for 5 bucks whats there is more than awesome. The cutscenes are superb and have the same humor found in all Lego games. The characters in the shop are a bit expensive but thats understandable because you are trying to make people spend real money :/ Only complaint is that there should be at least two save files or one on your device and one through iCloud. 5 stars if you change it. Music and voice acting wonderful Battling is fun and not sluggish or lagging at all (even when I'm running a screen recorder)

  I have been enjoying the game thus far- it's another good, fun Legos game- however on the first Edoras board, I have encountered a glitch which will not allow me to progress. When attempting to capture the flag of Edoras, the first time I took the flag to the top of the hill, I put it down where I thought was the drop area, and the flag rather than triggering the next activity, disappeared. I went back to the bottom to retrieve the flag from the roof again,and it will not allow me to pick up the flag. I exited the game, started the board over, and the same thing happened- not able to pick up the flag. Please advise.

  There are no good control options. It's such a shame. The game was fun on the console. Not so fun on an iOS device where your finger obstructs the view and it is impossible to perform the jump attack. Might be fun with an external control pad if that's supported.

  I have version from the PS3 and I was happy when I found out I could get it on my iPod 4th gen! I don't see why people don't like the controls since you can change them. On top of that this version and my ps3 version are exactly the same so far. The only thing I have to say is bad is that I crashed on me, but it was only once so I still say 5 star worthy.

  What's with all these people saying this game is awful. If you take my opinion on this game, *AMAZING!!* 2.99 for this game is a total score considering the fact most lego games for the gaming consoles are around $20 to $50. This game consist of big wars, adventurous moments, and exciting plots and levels. The controls are very good for a game on an iOS product. At first the controls are tapping to where you want to go, but you can change to a joystick type control which is very more convinent. If you ask, "should i buy this game for $2.99" the first answer going through your mind is...YES!!

  I have Lego Lord of the Rings on my iPod touch 5G. I think it's a great game. However one of the reasons that I am not giving it five stars is because it doesn't seem to be the complete console version. Even though it would take up more memory I really think that it would be worth it to use the full version. Also Please take down the stud price on the extras and characters. That would make the game much funner. I don't know if you can or can't do this already, but When you start a new game it would be better if your in-app purchases could be used in that game with no addition charge. All in all great game. Please think about getting some of the others such as Lego Indiana Jones 2. If you do get any more Lego games please use the full console version! Thanks and God bless!

  The controls were very glitchy and my joystick was all weird. It would go one way, then go the other. I also would like to play alongside my friends,( I would like the creators to create multiplayer in the game).

  At one point in the game I believe it's at 36.3% in the story the enemies spawn into the ground and if I can't kill those enemies then I can't complete the mission if you would please fix this glitch then I'd give it 5 stars

  Overall, this app is good. Not amazing, not terrible, but passably- average. Graphics are mediocre, not particularly high-resolution, but better than most games out there. It's very annoying how the background is just a poorly drawn set of boring objects, trees, or a large grey blob that is supposed to be a mountain. The sound quality (in combat) is average, but the background score is very nice, taken straight from the movies. Voice acting and animations in cutscenes are superb. Gameplay consists of the usual LEGO puzzles, but character abilities are forced, and don't make much sense. (Why do Hobbits have fishing poles, tinder boxes, and shovels?) Unfortunately. Combat is sluggish, and movement is VERY unresponsive. Fighting enemies is a bit of a chore, consisting of (very nice looking, but boring) slash combos, and the occasional power attack, or block. Overall, not very smooth. In short, this LEGO title has a TON of poorly executed content. Great cutscenes, great music, tons of levels, and 100s of characters (and the usual LEGO cuteness) are marred by boring combat, uninspired puzzle mechanics, and passable graphics. If your a fan of LEGO, or the LoTR, pick this app up, but don't expect too much.

  I am the biggest lotr fan out there. This app got good reviews so I bought it. It was fun until i got to the gandalf vs saruman level and only a fourth of the time the controls work. Doesnt make any sense. Warner bros u sucked it up this time.
