1) It is likely that ISON is not going to be the comet of the century. Nevertheless, we decided not to remove it from the app.
2) You can now turn on Picture caching in the Star Walk Settings. When caching is ON it will download the content only once and store it on your device. However when caching is OFF it will save you some space on your device.
3) Minor adjustments in texts and tables in Info to make them more readable.
4) Chinese localization improved.

Duran Duran's keyboard Nick Rhodes mentions Star Walk as his favorite app:
"With the Star Walk app, if you hold your iPod up towards the sky, you can see all the stars and constellations. It even tells you the names of all the planets. Then, if you point it towards the ground, it shows you what all the stars are in the other hemisphere. It’s brilliant, and if you’re ever somewhere with a clear sky and no light pollution, it’s a revelation. It’s beautifully designed and makes clever use of the available technology. I’m fascinated by astronomy, but even if you’re not, give this a go."

My students can really see into space. Pat, Nature Center Educator
If you have any interest in astronomy or have children, this app is a must. It's cool to look at a constellation and see a satellite going through it. Can't go wrong.
This has been one of my favorite apps for a couple of years. It's simply fascinating :)
Fun and informative
Great!
This is such an easy and fun app to learn science. I love all the bits of information that I get. I love the live sky indicating our sunrise and sunset and the same from other planets. I love this and I highly recommend it....
Have used it a number of times to look up things.
I've got a few astronomy apps on my iPad. I'm very impressed with Star Walk the most. I've also got Starry Night Enthusiast on my PC, which I paid $79 for. This app does everything it does, it's easier to use, especially outdoors on an iPad, and it's was 1/10 the cost.
I use this application all the time. When I was growing up I would see stars and constellations and just have to wonder what they were. Now I know. Works great!
When I first this app I was totally amazed! I am still enjoying opening this everyday and learning so much. All of the details are informative and beautiful photographs. Love it!
You just have to work with this cool stargazing app, many photo, many details and most important, many useful information. Thank vito...!
This app helps one easily see and experience the imagination of those that gazed into the night skies many, many years ago.
My family loves this app! We take it on every camp out, enjoy it in our own yard, and often take it along as a late night learning activity at scout outings. The graphics are amazing and everyone from young to old can appreciate its genius.
This is such a pleasure! I love walking my dog and looking at the stars; it's such a big help identifying constellations and individual planets/stars!
So much information, so little dark sky! New apps may come and go but Star Walk continues to be the best astronomy sky app. It makes me wish I lived in the country where I could get a better look at the stars.
I love this app.! Just wish I knew which area of the sky the planets rise and set. It gives the elevation but I don't know what that means. Frustrated.
This is the one to own. Truly the best at helping me understand what I am looking at in the night sky.
This is a tool that will allow me to introduce and enjoy Astronomy with my grand children.
I think I need a little faster processor and more bandwidth! Excellent presentation! Thanks for the gallery of images and especially the "fly through" videos. That's a great feature for an already excellent app.
I wish I had this app when I was a kid, I would have gotten a lot more use out of my telescope. This app has given me hours of fun and I learn new things all the time. There is something incredible about lifting my ipad up to the sky and have an incredible map of it appear live. I've noticed new features added recently that I've yet to check out fully but I would still recommend this app before even seeing new features.
I've learned a great deal from this informative app and it has the best detail - Thanks!
This app is easy to use. Easy to find things in the sky.
Awesome app, good for kids and adults.
A lot of fun and educational at the same time!
This app is fantastic. This app is what the ipad was made for.
In my opinion this is an essential iPad program.
Opens and entire new perspective of our surrounding Universe
This is by far the best science app ever!!!!!!!!!
When I want to de-stress I pull this app out and either just stargaze or impress people with my knowledge of astronomy. I really can forget the time looking thru the picture of the day. A truly out of this world app
I loved this app from the start and no other star gazing app compares, even several years after its release.
One of the most detailed and educational apps that I've used! Very complete. Very well made. You can spend hours getting lost in the universe in the comfort of your own home. I love seeing where the sun is below me at night! Not only showing constellations, details about specific stars/planets, and being able to point at the sky for information, but also showing satellites in real time! All I can say is "Wow!"
Good for people to comprehend basic information. Most stars on this app, probably I cannot get their in my entire life. But I can also get excited during this app experience. Thanks
Great pics also
This app is pretty cool it has a calendar when cool astronomical things are happening, it show you where things are right now. By pointing the camera at a the sun or moon it calculate where things are like satellites planets and stars. You can zoom in on planet and nebulas and galaxies and it tell you about them.
I originally got the Star Walk for my iPhone through SBux - and it has been the best app ever. Wherever I go the universe is available for me to find or figure out " what's that" in the sky. Now that I have an iPad Star Walk was purchased for an even better window to the sky's 5 Stars!!
Nice app for stargazers and night owls.
I am a new into astronomy and was looking for a better answer for finding my way around the vast sky. I was using paper star charts and a atlas wheel but I was never content with it or really got a complete hang of it " though I had only tried using it for a week or so". I got the idea of using an app for the job instead and started to look at what was available. Star walk HD was in my opinion going to be my best bet so I down loaded it and I could not possibly be happier. The app has everything I could have wanted and more.
This is one of the best app you can get.
Just a wonderful app. Such great visuals and so much information. Most impressive!
This is still one of the best apps I've had on my iPad after all this time. I got my iPad in May 2011 and got this app shortly afterwards. My family and I ave used the app more times than its needed to be updated and still enjoy it. And yes, it is that useful to us. Enjoy it yourself or don't, but give it a shot and see what you think. So far it hasn't given me any problems and has been fairly useful.
Terrific App! A great resource.
I use Star Walk quite a bit as it helps me easily locate targets in the night sky. Recently, I started using binoculars to view Messier objects. Star Walk helps me to plan and then star hop to the object. It's cool to zoom in while you are viewing the sky. The zoom feature helps you to become very familiar with the area of the sky you are searching. I also like to find interesting targets in Star Walk and then see if I can find them in the sky.
I use this app all the time when I star gaze at night. I love how it shows me events that are going to happen and where to look. Just a idea but could the galactic center be added. Other then that, this is a fantastic app!
So interesting.
Gorgeous, informative, and detailed. Make time and be fascinated again and again. With my limited knowledge haven't found anything that needs improvement yet but there are lots of great feedback out there. Plus, any electronic media that makes you want to look at the universe with your naked eyes is amazing, don't you think?
I love this app,had the previous version but this is the best so far.
The quality of this app is second to none. It is incredibly detailed, yet surprisingly user friendly. Star Walk is a must have for stargazers of any level of experience.
You'll love spending a lot more time looking up and learning. Even better when you take this out at night, away from city lights. Prepare to be amazed. Showed it off in the desert and everyone bought the app right there. Thanks!
Simply awesome!
Take your device out on a warm, clear night and point this up at the sky.
This thing is amazing fun. The kids have learned lots observing the stars with this. I really like this app and consider it essential.
Excellent app. Fascinating & informative. This is why the iPad was created, and why I have one. Definite 'wow' factor for everyone who sees it.
This is my preferred to work with my telescope, highly reccomended!!
I use this app almost every night, I've written a review before and today I curiously scrolled around to look for it for the sake of quenching curiosity. Yet to my great dismay I am disheartened to see that it seems as though can't find it. As with all things unanswered, maybe it's the result of either conducting an inconclusive search, a server glitch, a bad connection or (lightheartedly) an act of God. I mean not to offend anyone with my very last result of reason, if you do not believe or understand the existence of a god (creator), then that's ok, I still love you and respect your beliefs or lack of them. Either way the point I want to convey is that words truly don't do justice to the awesome feeling I get every time I get the humbling experience to gaze and study the night sky. This app is in a lots of way and invaluable/"priceless" tool for me when it comes to identifying the lights in the night sky. Now, in reference to the title of this review, I would like to honestly point out that I have had and used this app for years. First on myiPhone and now on an iPad. As always my advice with this is and any other app, is to first go online and read and watch reviews before purchasing, lest you become a victim of buyers a regret. A feeling I'm almost certainly sure that many of you can join me, in unfortunately knowing all to well. I practice, hope, and above all wish for all mankind to share, love and be kind to not only one another, but also to all types and forms of life. May we become ambassadors or peace and love throughout the earth and cosmos. I am a scientist but I'm also a being who dreams and lives to make dream become reality, whether it be in my lifetime or in the far future. The pursuit of passionate work is in many ways, its own reward. Thanks for reading and it hope you find/reach or at least continue to pursue the answers and goals you seek my friend.
Easily best app for my viewing ,easy, understandable ,beautiful. This is one app worth a couple hard earned dollars. Really n e 1 who is interested in stargazing should have this. Simple.
I especially appreciate the ability to see the night sky from any place on earth at any date in history. This is a great asset to my 19th, 20th, & 21st century human history research into reports of mysterious light sightings. As you can imagine knowing what celestial lights were visible on any given night is invaluable.
I get lost in for hours. Just wish I could play the music in the background too:)
Best astronomy app around. Very helpful in discovering and locating celestial bodies in the night sky.
I love this app so much. I take it out in the field with me and my telescope. It has the whole Messier Catalogue, the stars, planets, galaxies, etc, in the correct locations. The only gripes I have are that this app is missing a pretty good chunk of the NGC list. That is the only reason I have to give it 4*. If you could add the rest, that would be amazing.
How can you not??!!?
I love this app. I'm lucky to live in an area of Hawaii that is ideal for stargazing and Star Walk has made it all the more enjoyable and educational
I have several astronomy apps and Starwalk is the easiest and most straight forward to use. Crushing through time and watching how the heavens change gives complete new insight into astronomy.
Really like it!
This app is awesome. if there is only one app that you can squeeze onto you device...this is it...it's totally worth the the money and if i had to i would pay again for an update!
This is the most awesome app. It's out of this world!!!
The app is very practical. I am able to quickly locate celestial objects without the hassle of thumbing through a star atlas. The night mode is essential. Night vision is preserved through the use of red lighting. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS... if you click on a particular object in night mode, the information pops up using normal lighting. This defeats the night mode feature. I suspect that this is a minor fix.
I have been using this app for a couple years and find it to be excellent. The app is intuitive, full of information, and awakens the imagination each time I use it. The night sky becomes a world in itself, and my ipad is the lens through which I explore it.
If you are looking for THE ONE APP to have on your iPad: this is the one to get. Five stars is not enough.
The developers charges twice for the ipad version and the iphone version. Not cool at all. Should have gone for Sky guide instead
I love this app. I just point my ipad or iPhone to the sky wherever I am and it shows me in real time what's up there in better detail. In the city I might only see a few stars but when I point my ipad or phone to the stars it shows you all the things you can't see due to city lights. It's like being in a planetarium only it's the real thing.
I learn a lot on this app I learn all the constellations, planets, and other space stuff.
Great support. Love the background music. Very engaging and mesmerizing.
Love this app. I will be learning from it for a long time to come. So comprehensive!
Has no purchase's addons like others apps, so it worth the money and it works great!
A star gazer's must have!
This is the best star gazing app ever. The graphics are incredible. We'll worth the cost.
Visuals are mesmerizing and educational. The music is engrossing. A great experience!
Hours of enjoyment! Luv the upgrades!!!
Great app, I love to use it to see where the ISS is in the night sky and tracking follow it when it comes into view. Is there a possibility of adding Comets to the app? With the possibility of Comet Pannstars and Comet ISON being great in 2013 and the show that Comet Lemmon is currently putting on having that capability to be on the Star Walk App would be great. Plus having past comets like Halleys and Hale-Bopp. Thank you for your time. Thanks for updating current comets, hope you continue.
I love how easy it is to use, I can look up satellites, stars, meteor showers and more. It looks great, fit for iOS 7. My favorite feature is definitely the calendar, it alerts me when a meteor shower is coming. If you are looking for a start app, GET THIS ONE!
This is THE best sky app I have. The information, pictures and sky images are great. Easy to use.... Just point, click and spend the next few hours enjoying the night sky. This is a " must have " app.
If you are amazed by the sky, this is a must have! You install the app and go outside and turn your iPhone or iPad to the sky and be ready to spend hours staring up in to the heavens. This is more addicting than Facebook!!!
One of the best educational apps. Defiantly the best astronomy app! + the solar walk
By far the best astronomy app I have. I bought this one and another, this one is the best. there is so much info, beautiful pics. A planetarium in my iPad with soft music and all. Well worth the few dollars I paid for it.enjoy!
84 mb's for every update, which are once a week, your history. Good bye!
Me Like.
This app has really helped me realize how impressive our universe is. It's so beautiful, and easy to use. Many different features, and loads of information. Simply a wonderful app ❤
May as well that ISON ever existed. Biggest celestial event, customized just for this app. Tried to show it off, but it, in no way, was close to correct. No one attempted correct the problem. SHAME! Less than 1 Star.
Starlight, star bright, first star I see tonight. No more mistaking incoming planes for Mars! The info, the presentation all are exceptional and a great companion to the night sky. Thanks star people!
Frozen and no help so no longer works
Absolutely fantastic!
Latest update is definitely a step backwards.
Downloaded before camping trip. Worked great. Really got kids into astronomy. Getting telescope from Orion and I am sure this app is going to help us tons
Using on iPad 1, v. 5.1.1., occasional crashes. Also, location of Comet Ison is seriously off. This morning the comet is in Libra low at sunrise but Star Walk shows it high in Virgo.
The best!
I love the idea, but wish it would calibrate to my exact location. North is not true north with the app, etc....!
When the app is working, it's a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it crashes at least 1-3 times each time I use it. Ipad mini, iOS7
I've had this app since it first came out and i still love to use it. Perfect for taking outside at night and stargazing.
External "Apple TV" link does not work.
This is an absolute necessity for anyone who has been frustrated with using books to 'read' the night sky. For full appreciation of this App, take it camping with you away from the light pollution.
