I love this app! I got to re watch a few dear hbo series at times and in places more convenient to me and active than sitting in front of the tv.
Love the app, but really should have worked out buffering and launch issues before releasing for Chromecast. And don't even think about skipping ahead....you'll have to start the show over. They could really take a lesson from Netflix. It's seamless. Note: even if you have an existing user ID, if you change cable, you can't use it:(. Otherwise a great option. I would give five stars if they would make it a subscription service so I could ditch cable.

it works great as a standalone app but could definitely use some controls for finer scrubbing when using w/ the chromecast. at least a "30 second rewind" would be helpful. add this and 5 stars.
Love this app, but it stopped working correctly. When I log in now, it tells me that my parental controls through my cable provider only allow me to watch PG rated programs. I checked the parental controls on my cable providers site and there should be no restrictions. I called them, they said it's an issue with the app. Please fix! I miss this app!
Superb. The fact that hbo makes their content this available is almost too good to be true!
It used to work smoothly without any problems. Up to this week. It's very slow and it doesn't recognize my password or username when I try to sign in. I also use showtimego and that app has let me sign in so I know I'm not messing up my log in info. Also, there's no where for me to tell anyone about this because when you go to support it just tells you to download the app. Weird.
I like this app except no matter what I do I can't get the CC (closed captioning) to turn off. For several months I would occasionally use the CC and it would turn on and off with no problem,now it won't turn off at all. I tried deleting the app and reloading, I tried rebooting my iPad and I tried realoading the app but it still doesn't work turn off. I'm using iOS 7 on my iPad 4. Please fix this!

This is the best channel app by far. I love how they have every episode of every series they have ever made. Showtime and starz need to take notice because they both are AWFUL. Never had a problem with the app. Great picture quality, great selection, really good app.
I have an iPhone 4S and use 3G when I'm not at home. The app let's me watch full episodes without the constant buffering found on many other apps. No complaints at all!
I enjoy the app, and for the most part, I can see anything on the site with minor glitches. The closed captioning though is the most annoying part. It does not turn off. I have tried rebooting the app and my phone. Deleting and re-downloading app....nada. Please fix! Glacias :0)
How does such an obvious bug slip through their team's QA process? With the latest version of iOS on an iPad mini, closed captioning is on by default and can't be turned off with the onscreen controls. Fix it please.
Although app streams well to my TV through Chromecast, it doesn't support 5.1. Come on HBO, it's 2014.
Works just as expected. Has everything HBO which is amazing. Everyone who complains about it on the Chromecast has no idea how their Chromecast works. The Chromecast loads your show separately from your phone and has its own internet signal. So if you're having buffering problems, its an issue with connectivity of your Chromecast not this app. It is loading an HD signal straight from your router, so if your wifi isn't great you may have issues. Try moving your Chromecast closer to your router or using the small HDMI extender included with the Chromecast to improve your connection. HBOgo is the best thing to happen to me and worst thing to happen to my social life. Every series is great. If you have HBO and don't have this app/use the website, you're completely wasting your HBO subscription, this app is the real treat not the cable station.
Needs better fast forward and rewind.
I love this app however it keeps showing only audio and no video due to "not strong enough wifi signal". This is annoying! Love the convenience!

All i get is an error message saying that all requires Internet connection. I've tried signing out, turning off device and neither have worked.
This app is one of the most frustrating ever. The episodes take longer to buffer than the length of the actual show you're trying to watch. Massive disappointment
Stupid app won't let me sign in on iPhone or iPad. It logged me out and now I can't even enter my login credentials. Thanks a lot hbo.
The ipad app will not let me sign in. When you pick a provider, nothing happens. You can't move forward and sign in. Fix please.
Is anyone else having an issue trying to log in with Dish as a provider? Every time I choose Dish as my provider all I see is a white screen. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.

Worst app ever. It freezes every 3-6 mins! Must constantly be restarted.
Normally I don't have much of a problem watching shows/movies on here but lately it keeps freezing in the middle of the show/movie and then it resets to the beginning again, not to add all the random issues with it not being able to find/ play the video. And the thing that really irritates me, is that HBO GO isn't adding the shows when they are suppose to. I pay for this service and I expect it to work flawlessly, honestly I don't think that's too much to ask for. Set your game up HBO, seriously.
Lags with Chromecast. I wouldn't say it 'buffers', but it lags and the frames almost slow down, if that makes sense. It's NOT my connection -- Netflix app works awesome, but this one is not great. Keep in mind if you're buying this to use with a chromecast.
If I pause, and my screen locks, the app will refresh and I lose my place in the movie. That's IF it doesn't also force me to refresh my login. When it works it's great. But for a major company like HBO, they could really have a better app.
For the most part the app is ok. The app does need a update ASAP. The hbogo app will stay loading on the hbogo logo. You have to keep force closing or restart services in order get back to the movie you are watching. This seems to be a big issue with IOS7 iPhone 5 and 5s.

I am in Panama, paying HBO to operator Cable Onda, they just launched HBO Go and I cannot use it because my itunes store is US? the app should be agnostic and let you log to content in panama restricted by IP and user/login not by app.
This is truly a dreadful app. Have to delete and reinstall to get it to function. After optimizing video quality just get the spinning wheel. Or last night it was "you must be connected to the internet". Or maybe it's the over rated iPad air. Who knows?
Wow, this app constantly freezes!! I have to close the app and reopen literally every 2-6 minutes. Regardless if I'm using my iPad or iPhone, or using wifi or 4G. Worst streaming app I've used.
Just keeps saying "needs an internet connection". And yes, I have an internet connection. Ridiculous. Get your act together, HBO. Apps aren't rocket science.
Used HBO Go with Chromecast yesterday. Chromecast auto updates and HBO Go no longer works. When fixed I'll happily give a 5-star rating.

Is this app some kind of bad joke? I open it up and get to stare at the HBOgo logo for about 10 seconds and then the screen just goes back to my Apple home screen. I made sure all the other apps were closed and restarted my iPad and it still doesn't work.

Works horribly with google chromecast.
App is slow to load, doesn't have any of the convenient features of Netflix (like suggestions, ratings, previously viewed list, etc), has many glitches and sometimes freezes. Considering this is the future of HBO, they need to get with the program here and copy what Netflix has done
This bug is very disruptive to the viewing experience. Otherwise it's a pretty solid app. Fix this bug.

Anything requiring a subscription is a crapplication.
App keeps freezing in the middle or end of videos! Constantly have to delete and re-install the app. One star for the content. It is all there but difficult to enjoy. Step it up, HBO!

The watch list doesn't open despite hitting multiple times. No longer holds my place in an episode. This is on the iPad Air. Please fix.
Too many login problems with this HBO app. Xfinity has everything the HBO app has without requiring a login if you're an Xfinity user. Plus, it has all the channels like Cinimax, History, Disney etc., not just HBO.

Does not work in the US Virgin Islands
Good when it's working fine but so frustrating when the shows refuse to load or gets cut off. Plus it asks you to sign in almost everyday, even though you were signed in 10 minutes ago and the "remember me" box is checked.
Using LTE with 3 bars on iPhone 5. Movies freeze at 20 or 30 min intervals. If I close the app and reopen the movie starts again at the point of freeze.
This is the sweetest app on my iPhone. Works perfect.
Running the app from my phone works just as smoothly as it does from my Mac book, even when using my google chromecast. If you have buffering issues, take it up with your internet provider. I have a $70 dollar package from Cox, with a 900n Netgear modem/router (all-in-one) with dual networks (one 2.4 Ghz, one 5 ghz), and it works like a dream. Maybe everyone who gave this app a bad review just need beef up their bandwidth? Because this is just waaayy too perfect. Side note: the convenience of casting video from my phone to my chromecast is unbelievable. Definitely recommend it.
Downloaded it. The app redirects me to the DirectTV website whenever I try to log in... Pointless app- don't waste your time.
There is no way to turn on a Series Pass, even though it's listed in the settings. You have to manually out every episode from a series into your watch list, but this doesn't notify you when there's a new episode. Frustrating.
The close captioning will not turn off no matter how many times I try and turn it off or close the app and reopen. Please fix this as it's rather annoying to someone who doesn't need it or want it. App would be pretty solid if this bug was fixed.

This app used to work very well with Chromecast, now it buffers all the time if it even plays at all.
In general I love this app, but I've noticed some issues. Namely, it won't update the latest episodes of Boardwalk Empire - it won't offer up any season 4 episodes. I have an iPad 2 with iOS 7 and the latest version of the app. Don't seem to have this issue with the app on my iPhone. Anyone else have this issue?
After being able to play in my home theater projector for some weeks, suddenly I got message that device is not supported. Not fair and bad business practice.
Even at home with wifi and no other connections to the router, this disconnects and has to buffer constantly. HBO is too big to have so little server traffic capabilities.
I would give this app a much higher rating if closed captioning would turn off. Very distracting
Once great app now can't even stream smoothly enough on phone, ipad, laptop, or google tv to make it worth trying to watch. Since I virtually never watch actual hbo channel, no real need to keep hbo now.
Won't allow you to sign in and continues to crash. Fix soon otherwise it's pointless to have HBO. My viewing styles have changed and I watch my programs on the go or when I want to. Being glued to ones television is not where I am today.

This app does not work if you try to use it on the IPhone 5 it works for about 5 minutes then freezes up. Then you can't get it to do anything else. I also had a IPhone 4 & it did the exact thing on that phone as well. Don't waste your time with this app they don't keep up with updates or anything. It's a very terrible app the 1st really bad app I have ever come across.

It's a fine app but there is no excuse as to why you haven't streamlined for chromecast yet when it's chromecast has been out for nearly 6 months. Netflix streams fine. Please work it out. Thanks! :)
We have this for my wife's iPad. It constantly asked her to login with our Uverse info every time she started it up. Now it says we don't have HBO and stopped working entirely. What a waste.

This app is now useless to me as it won't recognize the parental control changes I have made with my cable service (Charter). Most HBO programs are R rated and cannot be viewed. Pleased fix this problem.
During a 1hr episode it crashed 5 times and I had to login every time! Got tired and stopped watching.
Used to work great! Shows were like watching it live, but now the quality of picture decreased and it's constantly buffering. Watch other tv apps just fine on my computer and iPad. HBO..something is wrong here.
Was a great app. I was watching game of thrones all weekend now it says my parental controls have been set by my cable provider and cant watch anything on pg13 or tv-ma. I called my cable provider and they said everything was fine. Its the app that has a problem.

Can't log in, as per usual. Can't believe this happens over and over. I hardly even use the app anymore because it's such a headache.
I downloaded the HBO Go app and it never appeared on my home screen. It also will not open in the App Store, I would think this would have been fixed by now since after reading the reviews I know that I am not the only one with this problem. HBO shame on you.
App says it's installed but doesn't show on my iPad home screen, App Store says I need to update it but there's no "update" button. Tried to reinstall but App Store won't allow. Works ok on my iPhone....

it wont let me sign into my charter account. changed the passcode and was able to sign into my charter but wont let me sign in here with my user or email.

According to multiple reviews other users have had the same problem for months now. Every time I log on I just get a blank white screen. Fix this please?
Buffering with chromecast is absolute torture. Every few seconds. Can't watch shows without it stopping to buffer at least 10 times, often way more. So annoying.
This is a review for the xbox 360 app When I watch movies at hbogo.com I never have a problem with buffering but on the 360 the app is terrible you really need to release an updated version for 360 ps3 and iPhone
