  Helpful app! Transcribing audio is hard, but it makes sense if you are going to be talking out loud. I'd like a separate conjugation drill for French verbs. I need to review that every day.

  I still like this app even after a couple of weeks of playing. I'm not sure how often I'll need to use phrases like "My horses eat cheese" but I'm guessing such simple phrases are part of the learning process. I'm curious what the 'end' of the app looks like, or if I'll ever get there. This is the longest I've ever used an app for language learning, versus dropping it after a week of use. One glitch I had was resolved by logging out and back in. A great app overall!

  I am loving learning German with this app- I can use it on the bus, at lunch, whenever I have some spare time. It is more about memorization than learning the skills, so it's easier to read than have conversations. Regardless, Duolingo is a great starting point!

  Great app to jog back your memory! I will say it's much easier since I've had exposure to French, may be a lot slower process if I did not. Overall it gives you the basics and will get you around! Love the oral and written variations! Limited languages available but can't wait till they add some more to it!

  Would've given a 5, but, as somebody mentioned, it needs a section for various grammar rules that is necessary for the particular language, something like a chart, so you can get a bird's eye view on what you have to learn. Other than that. Perfekt.

  What's not to love about an app that gives you easy-to-follow steps on learning any language you choose?? I've been wanting to put forth a genuine effort to learn Spanish and this app has definitely become a great teacher. Can't say enough good things about it

  I love that the app is super easy to use and goes over a lesson multiple times so you can be confident what you are saying is the right thing. BUT You need to be able to study more than one language at a time. You should add Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese.

  Great way to drill vocab and concepts and it's something you could do every day while in the bathroom, lol. The only minus is that they use computerized voices instaed of prerecorded speech so I would supplement this with something where you hear a real speaker, or else you will end up sounding like the Mac robot in whatever language you're learning.

  This is better than any class because it is so personal. It also makes learning very fun and easy. Unlike any other. If you want to learn a new language or two then you should definitely get this app. Only problem is it doesn't really tell you why. But it still is the best by far. Love this app.

  Wonderfully created. This application really teaches vocabulary, grammar, and speaking while forcing you to review previous skills periodically so that nothing is forgotten. This is the only foreign language tool I've found that even comes close to classroom participation or immersion. Good work, Duolingo!

• Great program, but really hard to hear the French Audio clips

  I started last week with French, and am having a great time going through the lessons. It seems to be working for me. The only problem I have is that I really can't hear the audio clips well. Even with different pairs of headphones, the audio is muffled, which especially for French makes it really hard to get through without losing hearts.

  Maybe it's because I know some German already, but this app is really helping me to get a better understanding of some things, like all the pronouns. I like the setup and the flow of the lessons. This is great. Now, I am brushing up on a little Spanish that I had learned back in high school. I recommend this app.

  I mean like if you already know the language it helps but it doesn't teach you anything. It just throws you into the middle of the language and doesn't teach you anything before hand, and literally any other app is better this one looks all fun and professional but it's just terrible and useless, unless ofcourse you know the language already

  I've always wanted to practice my Spanish with somebody and this takes out the need to have somebody else to practice with. Iit is an amazing app for someone who learned Spanish from a textbook and wants to get better.

  As a liberal arts major and self-professed nerd, I took 3 years of Spanish and 5 of French in high school and college! So this app has been so much fun helping me remember what I learned so many years ago! My kids have downloaded on their devices as well and now we have French night where we sit around the dinner table and practice our French on each other! I highly recommend this app, it helps keep you on goal and I love that you can strengthen skills without having to redo the entire lesson.
