  Just upgraded from a 3gs to a 5s and there were no problems switching over. Always get my shows, and if you download them while youre connected to wi-fi there are no issues. If you want to listen to entertaining shows download this app, you won't regret it.

  I love this app, I love being able to listen to programs I normally miss. Here lately, it goes through the download process at least 4 times, which takes more time than the program plays! When it finally does play, I get a message about it not being there anymore, and have to go back, click on the program again. Then it does it again! I can't hear the program in it's entirety.

• Functionality & drains battery fast

  App needs to follow main setting in the stations part. If you set up each podcast to play oldest first shouldn't the station set up do the same? Instead I plays newest to oldest per podcast order. It only gives the option to rearrange to order from oldest to newest rearranging the podcast order. I like the app because I can sit at work & not have to click the order to play the podcast I listen too. Also the app drains the battery fast.

  I like the app to listen to the comedy button podcast and the Ray William Johnson one. But this app seems to have a problem with downloading podcast. I would download but then it would say processing and then download error retry or done. I find this annoying because I like listening podcast on the go and not at home to give me entertainment. And I don't have internet please fix the downloading mechanism

  Great app I just wish I could highlight certain sections to review later and I'd like it integrated into headphones somehow voice activation cause with my job I can't pull my phone out all the time and that's where I use this app and I'd like to easily be able to review curtain parts of podcast later when I get home and look up and research so I don't forget other than that I can't complain great job!

  People who complain about this app are just incapable of learning something new. It is FAR better than the old music app for handling podcasts. Just take a few minutes to learn it and stop complaining. For once apple did something right software-wise.

  Don't bother with iTunes download new episodes through the app you can even set it up to do this automatically in the background for new episodes. You can enter RSS urls into the search bar to add podcasts that aren't on iTunes

  I love listening to podcasts but it's a pain to use this app. Crashing all the time, especially when I try to delete podcasts. Too many problems to list though.

• Bad Experience

  This has been such a bad experience using this application. I have months worth of frustration in trying to listen to podcasts on my iPhone without streaming. There is a setting on which episodes to keep, but that is only which episodes to list. I continue to have podcast episodes deleted as soon after one day after being downloaded. And nothing lasts longer than a week. Is it my fault for being poor enough to have a data cap?

  I was thinking the other day, "You know, I'm almost always getting close to using all of my cellular data per month. Why don't they make an app for something that doesn't need to use data just so I can go over my limit every month." It worked fine!!!!!! Why did you have to ruin it by taking it out of music???? It takes forever for a podcast that is ALREADY DOWNLOADED to start playing. Truly terrible app. Almost as bad as the Facebook app.

  Why cant people just leave well enough alone. The old podcast app was perfect. It sat nicely in the music app. Now instead of keeping my iphone screen clean, apple created another useless app icon for no reason. Things I hate My podcasts are not in alphabetical order. It keeps pulling down old episodes I haven't synced. It shows podcasts that have no new episodes. The settings tab is confusing as hell. I feel apple needs to justify their jobs so they keep messing with things that worked just to keep giving us new stuff. Itunes 11 is horrible, Itunes 10 was better. The new podcast app is horrible, the old one was better. Apple, I hope you see all these 1 star reviews and give us something that works and leave it alone. As of now, you have absolutely ruined my podcast listening experience.

  This app used to work wonderfully on my iPad, but since Friday (1/24) it hasn't been able to update the Boomer and Carton podcast I follow. If it wasn't for the past podcasts I have previously downloaded this app would be gone for good. If your objective was to piss customers off, congrats you've done it with this app. Unless this is taken care of u lost a future returning customer

  I had some issues with this app before, now it's simply awful. Subscription management , cleanup, downloading, etc have all gotten more difficult, cumbersome and slower to update. So upset. Who makes apps harder to use and less convenient? Will buy one now. Get what you pay for I guess.

  Continue to love the concept, hate the execution. I rely on listening to my podcasts but now it just stop updating my podcasts altogether Can we get a version that works loaded back on. Updating and syncing is still inconsistent and constantly keeps cloud versions on that I have listened too. Would love to be able to start listening to my podcasts again.

  The concept of Podcasts is pretty simple, but Apple seems to enjoy complicating the process and forcing users to do things the Apple Way… even if Apple changes their mind regularly on what the Apple Way is! My complaints at this moment are these: First, why can I no longer Rate podcasts in the iOS app? Second, why can’t Live Updating smart playlists be synced to iOS devices? (Workaround: make your smart playlist with all of the rules and live updating. Next, make a new smart playlist that includes only content from the first one and go ahead and leave it live updating. The first one [source] won’t sync, but the second playlist will sync.)

• No Bottom With This Line

  Just when you think this app can’t possibly get any more frustrating or difficult to use, it gets updated and the impossible happens. I have podcasts vanishing that I want to listen to, podcasts that I’ve listened to that I can’t get rid of, and some podcasts (like the Prisker Military History podcast) where there are over 300 episodes and you can’t make _any_ of the titles go away no matter _what_ you do, including playing them through. Stuff I’ve carefully downloaded to listen to while driving keeps vanishing before I take a long drive… Gah! Gah! Gah! This shouldn’t be that hard!

If I search for my podcast it shows all of the recent listings, but if I subscribe to one, and then access it shows the only available podcast is from Nov 2013? This app worked just fine at v1.0, Now it is completely worthless.

  I'm getting really tired of getting this message. It happens more often then not. Why is is so hard to make it so I can click on an episode I want to listen to... And listen to it? If I don't get that message. I get "this episode is temporarily unavailable." And that's just as annoying.

  I'm not sure what the developers' intentions are with this app, perhaps they way they use it works fine (maybe always using only via the cloud and downloading via a data plan?), but it's gotten progressively worse for many users. As they should be able to tell by these reviews. Old podcasts don't completely delete after syncing, this can be incredibly frustrating when you listen to a large number of podcasts as I do. "Oh, I have a new one, great! ... Wait, nope, turns out they're saying I need to download an episode I've already listened to and deleted repeatedly." Is this app orphaned? Does Apple not care? Please have a few developers and UX folks spend a little bit of time fixing this disasater. The whole syncing experience remains completely confusing and overly complicated, even when it is working properly.

  I upgraded my iPod touch from a 2nd gen to the 5th gen. Before I upgraded to iOS 7 on the new device I was happy. After upgrading and having the dismay of podcasts being made second class citizens I became increasingly frustrated with the fact that Apple no only managed to destroy one of the best features of the iPod in general but that they seem to have forgotten how to test software. Synchronization does not work anymore and the updates seem to be degrading the software more than improving it. Is it Apple's intention to destroy podcasting?

  Every update creates more problems. Among the many already listed, one more new annoyance is the podcast pausing every time I unlock the phone. I have to manually hit play within the app to start it again. Stop trying to make it 'better' and start fixing all the stuff you keep screwing up.

  This is the first time I can remember where my Apple stuff doesn't "just work". I cracked my iPod so thought I could use my iPhone 5s to listen to podcasts. Trying to make that happen crashed my MacBook. Played with this for hours and still can't download most podcasts. I have stumped members of the Apple consultants network. What's up with this bs?

  I realize that apple attempts to move everyone forward into their own idea of purely cloud based syncing, but removing the ability to easily sync or drop archived podcasts from a tethered Mac is woefully disappointing. I'd give this app -1 stars if I could. PLEASE return the functionality of successfully syncing archived podcasts.

  Syncing podcasts via wifi is often a crapshoot. “Waiting for changes to apply” is the beginning of a few hours of workarounds to get new downloads to sync to iPhone…too many issues to discuss. Why do podcasts just disappear from, or not sync to, iPhone? I don’t think Apple even knows!

  Not a bad app but the cover art on some podcasts won't populate. 60 minutes is one example. It shows when you search and subscribe but won't populate in the player. Please fix this apple. You're better than that and Steve would have never allowed this.

  I love podcasts and love the ability to update from the app... But syncing is a nightmare. You have to jump through hoops, mark certain casts as played in just the right order, and then it STILL may not sync correctly. Fix it, please! You've had plenty of time to read all the feedback.

• Going Backwards! Awful - now “streaming not on your phone"

  This latest update is awful. The point of syncing podcast is to listen to them away from home… or we would just play them on a home computer! I don’t want to have to “stream” my podcasts. If I’m in a remote location that can’t happen. Why would I want to pay to use my cellular data to access something I used to be able to just put on my phone? I also don’t want ALL podcasts accessible. Sure they are on the cloud, but I have 20+ some are for running, I don’t listen to those in the car- so why have to scroll thru them on my phone now too? This latest iTunes roll out has been thinking of something other than Apple for the first time ever. "You can download podcasts from the iTunes Store on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and you can listen to audio podcasts or watch video podcasts streamed over Wi-Fi or a cellular network1 on your iOS device. If you subscribe to podcasts using your iOS device, those podcasts will sync to your iTunes library when you sync your device with iTunes."

• Getting Worse

  I don’t want to use my limited cellular data allotment to download Podcasts, so I don’t let this app use cellular data (set in the Settings app). So every time I open this app I get a dialog box telling me I have cellular data turned off. I know that. The app knows that. Don’t tell me every single time I just want to switch to a different Podcast. This is most annoying while driving. I get to the end of a podcast, and want to quickly switch to a different show, but no, the app must stop everything, and force me to dismiss a dialog box before letting me switch podcasts. Now the app has developed a further problem. It scrambles its internal database. The app will tell me all my podcasts are not available. I have to delete the app, and download a fresh copy from the App Store to get my podcasts back. All the data is still on the iPhone, as the podcasts are all there immediately, before the app could possibly download that much data. Way back in the beta version of this app, the app would remember what speed I like to listen to various podcasts. If I listened to one cast at 2x speed, but another at 1x speed, the app would play the next episode for that show at the same speed. Now the app has the speed setting as a global setting. If I speed up one podcast, that speed setting stays even when I switch shows. Bring back per podcast show speed settings. Apple, you can do better.

• unusable, ipod user guide is worthless

  I download eppisodes on my ipod at home then when im in they car 90% are unavailable. I've taken several days after work to try and fix the problem but i don't think anyone has been able to fix this. how could they release this app, epic fail. The user guide has NO information on what "sync subscriptions" means exactly and how to work by downloading on the ipod, downloading and syncing with itunes and icloud. I have to use my ipod 3rd gen for podcasts.

  This used to be a good app. It made my hour long commute 3 days a week more bearable. Since I updated my iPod 5th gen, the app is TOTALLY useless! I can download podcasts, but as soon as I get in my car (no wifi), they won't play - it's like they weren't even downloaded. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app, but that was only a temporary solution. Now, I can't even download podcasts. FIX THIS ASAP!!!!

  On Mac Pro E5 iTunes/library/podcasts/unplayed has 3 podcasts; On Mac Pro E5 iTunes/iPod/On This iPod says 3 podcasts; On iPod Touch Podcasts says No Podcasts; All devices have the latest software, and are being SYNCed over a hard-wire connection, and have been restarted, rebuilt, and anything else you can do - HELP;

  This app has been riddled with bugs all the way through it's life. Great concept, useful features, poor quality control and programming. It's junk and should be abandoned. Start over with a different team. Currently bothered by: Listen to podcasts, they aren't marked as listened to.

  The app itself is something that I can mostly tolerate for listening to podcasts. As far as I know it downloads my podcasts and only keeps the new episodes like I want. The major malfunction arises when iTunes gets in the mix and absolutely screws the pooch from both ends. The podcast information SHOULD sync via the cloud between the computer and iOS app, however that does not happen. I have podcast syncing via the regular iPhone sync disabled but then it DOES sync my podcasts, but only one way. It syncs the old stuff I’ve already listened to back to my phone and I’m forced to clean it up every time.

  This app does not sync all my audio files on my iphone. The only way I can access my podcasts is to save them all in the music app. Therefore this app would be absolutely useless for me. A lot of glitches and crashes. I organized all my podcasts but it only syncs one episode.

  Error. Tap retry for 5 star review. "Let's take something that worked perfectly and then let's make it not work." - the apple Podcast team. Another Update: no new podcasts will play. Get a "podcast unavailable." Just problem after problem. I don't get why this is happening. Update - The recent update reset all my settings which resulted in downloading over 1,000 podcasts to my iPhone. Took 30 minutes to get everything working normally.

  This is by far the most negative review I’ve ever had to write, but this app is just appallingly bad at doing basic things things like: - syncing - figuring out what content has been played already - not downloading multiple copies of the same podcast episode - being able to actually play episodes it claims are already downloaded on the phone These are not especially hard problems to solve, not at all. Can’t tell if it’s incompetence or just basic disregard for users. Either way it’s pathetic.

• Gets worse with each update!

  This app - which started out as a piece of garbage- gets worse with each update. Let's see what they broke this time around - oh, you can't delete podcasts that you already listened to. Thanks for that, Apple! You know, I've been listening to podcasts via iTunes and syncing them to my phone for seven years, and in the last two, you've pretty much destroyed my ability to do that. Great job!

• Can't download now

  I used to listen to all my podcasts with this app. But now it won't load anything. It downloads until the last second and then gets an error. On every podcast. What happened? Now I have to find a different player cuz this one is worthless.

  I'm constantly listening to various podcasts, so I need a reliable app. Apple keeps moving this one backwards. It syncs poorly, often not refreshing the playlist until a couple restarts or resyncs. It also crashes regularly. What gives? It would also be good to have this respond to voice commands as the old integrated iPod app used to. Would like a better option at this point.
