The Remote app is great too; I find that it works better than the recommended, still-buggy, remote feature of Keynote app itself.
As a student who gets PPT presentations from my professors, I hate that you can't see both the slide and the notes section at the same time. It makes it hard to take notes as well as see any notes the professor already put in for us. There should be a view where you can take notes while looking looking at the slide.
Very nice remote implementation.
I bought it and it does not let me download??!!
When I try to email a presentation on PowerPoint, it just sits there in the outbox. Have emailed larger ones before. Due to update...??? Then when I reopened next day, 90% of my pictures not there anymore. Now saying can't use that format of pictures, but I pulled more off safari the same way and it used the new ones. Don't understand why.
I love Keynote and how iCloud works to sync my presentations between my computer and my iPad. I use both the desktop version and the mobile version a TON because I’m a teacher. All of my students have iPads too. I found out one big flaw - that I cannot directly send a presentation to my students from their computer and have them open it on their iPads. It errors every time. If I send the presentation from my iPad they can open it just fine. The problem is that the native mail app does not allow you to send messages to groups, so I have to put their e-mail addresses in one at a time through the iPad versus sending out a quick mass e-mail from my computer. It seems like a major flaw… hard to believe Apple over looked it. I have the latest version of Mavericks on my mac book pro and the latest version of IOS7 on my iPad so it can’t be a reason like that why it doesn’t work. Not sure if others are having that problem, I’d like to see it dealt with in a future update. Thanks a bunch!
Please make option to display slide notes simultaneously with the slide! Otherwise, perfect app!
Love the app! I can play multiple videos on each slide without a problem. Transitions are great and almost seamless moving from desktop to mobile device. Here are my feature request though. First Laser pointer feature when in remote mode and second movie controls for videos embedded on slides.
Keynote is pretty impressive on the iPad and in the browser. I’m extremely disappointed, however, than I have to replace the Keynote Remote app, which was 3.2MB, with the entire Keynote app at 444MB or more, depending on how many presentations you have loaded in iCloud. PLEASE BRING BACK A LIGHTWEIGHT REMOTE APP FOR KEYNOTE!
I have been waiting for the remote feature for a long time and finally it is here. I am using my iPhone 4S as a remote for the 4th generation iPad. It works smoothly on wi-fi or bluetooth. I would like to see in the future to control the presentation while the iPhone is locked (for example, using the volume buttons to move between the slides).
Remote works great, for those of you having issues finding your computer on a Wi-Fi network (security), just create an ad hoc network in your mac and join it on your phone. Have given a number of keynote presentations that way with the old remote app, glad to say that it works even better with this remote app. Also excited I can control keynote on my iPad with my iPhone now. I use my iPad from time to time to make light presentations, good to know I can still use my phone as a remote for those.
I was all set to complain about the loss of the old Keynote App since I use it weekly, but after trying out the new built in remote option to Keynote 2.1 … I tapped on the upper left of the screen and a preview of every slide popped out from the left side. I’ve been wanting this option for who knows how long and have tried other apps as well. Finally, I think we’re there. Not quite sure why it took so long.
V2.[1]: All three iWork apps took over 3 hours to download on WiFi, and another 2 hours to install. Keynote is now permanently grayed out and in "waiting" state. The only way I can run it is from the appstore. Now, where did I put my 9 pound hammer? Update (Jan 27): As you could tell from my initial review, I was quite frustrated with the install process. Both the iPhone and iPad experienced very unusual behavior during iWorks update to 2.1. The installation of each app apparently had to make two attempts for eventual success. The iPhone made two automated attempts while on WiFi, leaving Keynote in waiting state over the weekend. The iPad install was a more painful process. The first attempt appeared to succeed, but later on Friday when I opened the App Store to update other apps iWorks immediately reverted and placed all three apps back to update status. Unfortunately I could not wait any longer and went home for the weekend with 2.1 on the iPhone (but no Keynote) and 2.0 on the iPad. When I was back in the office this morning (Monday) all updated properly and both devices now have the latest version. As far as the apps themselves are concerned, I've always been satisfied with their performance. The sledge hammer is back in the garage.
There have definitely been growing pains with the complete rewrite of iWork for both OS X and iOS, but the document fidelity is absolutely wonderful now and it looks like Apple will keep adding back the missing features and more. Two things I think should be focused on: 1. Please add the Smart Builds feature back to Keynote (for both OS X and iOS). Smart Builds allowed for extremely powerful and professional animations with the simplicity both Apple and Keynote have become known for. 2. Please add the ability for the new remote feature, that is thankfully now built into Keynote for iOS, to activate the laser pointer for both OS X and iOS Keynotes. Currently, the only way to use the laser pointer feature is if you are presenting off of the iOS device itself, but in a lot of cases, users plug in their Mac to the projector and use an iOS device as a remote so they cannot use the laser pointer. It would be perfect to be able to touch and hold on the screen of the iOS device that is connected as the remote and have the laser pointer appear on the device that is actually displaying the Keynote.
This app is good but it's not as good as power point but for iPad it's good cause u can't get power point on iPad
I wish the remote control option transmitted rich text to the remote. It would make it easier to read.
Apple we need new fonts and a lot of what Office can do
I would still like to see a color spectrum replacing the limited color palette it currently has, so I can choose exactly what color text, background or shapes I want.
No longer use my computer
This app acts almost exactly like PowerPoint. I love the fact I can save a document and open it up on a PC.
With the latest update, Keynote will not run a slideshow over Airplay. Very frustrating...
Can't recommend this product: remote doesn't work. Every time I try to pair with my Mac it crashes keynote on the Mac. Same result regardless of whether the network the devices are attempting to connect over is at work (university network), at home, or an ad hoc network.
This app is now constantly freezing and every time I highlight a word it freezes for about 30 seconds. This app has become almost unusable. PLEASE FIX THIS. I do not want to switch to another note-taking system but keynote no longer works as well as it used to. I have the iPad Air and I thought maybe the fact that I had the iPad 2 made this app slower. But the iPad Air and the iPad 2 have the same poor performance with this app.
I need to see presenters notes and slides simultaneously without having to link my iPad to another apple device and 'present' from it. Make presenter mode an optional view please! This update would make it a 5/5
Day by day....
This is the best app ever works great Get it
I LOVED this app and use it all of the time. After the last update, however, it quits when I attach it to a projector through VGA from my iPad. It works perfectly until I attach it! HELP! I'm presenting again in a few days!
If you give presentations at a company or university campus (basically everyone), the remote will not work. If you like giving presentations to your cats at home, I'm sure it will work fine.
Share still does not work. When it is sent, I click the link and click download, once download almost finishes it crashes
I teach at a college and also work for a large biotech company and give a number of Keynote lectures every month. Previous attempts to use a remote control with my MacBook Pro Retina have failed and dropping the infrared on Macs was a bad decision. Anyway, I spent an entire afternoon trying to get the new update remote to work between my new iPhone and a new MacBook Pro Retina and finally was told by Apple support that the remote does not work in business or educational settings (Wi-Fi issues). I really do not need this for home. I will have to buy a third party remote (the USB plug ins work on Macs). A big step backwards in my opinion.
The non-functioning remote feature makes this a bust. Apple has major problems with connections between Apple devices like the Mac and iPhone (Bluetooth, trying to use WiFi networks especially) and this is yet another huge failure. I was told by Apple tech support that the remote feature will not work at businesses or schools. You know, places one might give a presentation or lecture.... It is back to my Microsoft wireless mouse to use as a remote. Very bad, Apple.
There isn't smooth animation when using AirPlay to an Apple TV. Seems that the frame rates are dropped or the connection isn't sufficient for smooth playback. I was standing 10 feet away with an iPhone 5S and using a latest generation Apple TV. C'mon now you make the software and hardware, can you get it right? I'm not even mentioning the features that are missing... That is a whole different story.
New update does nothing to fix the issue with crashing. Every two minutes or so and the app totally crashes. Apple, you need to get it together. Worthless as long as it constantly crashes. Sad.
Alright, I just updated and ALL OF MY PRESENTATIONS HAVE BEEN ERASED. I freaking have a presentation this Tuesday on a research topic that I have been working on for school for 4 months without end! Not cool, I'm not sure what to do now.
My primary concern is the remote app. Besides the fact that there is now a big white square currently stuck next to the slide whether you have notes or not I am extremely disappointed that there is not a portrait option for the iPad. It is difficult to walk a room holding the iPad in landscape. I know the iPhone version does contain this feature but that is too small for my needs. I use this app every single week as it is my bread-and-butter of my work. I am very nervous about where we're headed with this.
At first I thought this app looked great, but after 30 minutes of trying to use it, I discovered what a mess it really is. Basic things like bringing up the keyboard when entering a text field just don't work. It really should be embarrassing for Apple and a shame that the app just doesn't work in some fundamental ways.
It's not supporting writing from right to left
Glad to see Apple integrates Keynote Remote to this app
Awesome I love it
Text boxes enlarge when you write too much, this makes some of the text go off the slide, so when you are presenting some of your stuff may get cut off, other than that it's pretty good.
Finally Keynote Remote!
Please add a pointer function when using the iPhone app to control an iPad presentation
Best app out there! Please add option to use or not use the "bounce" feature to Cube and other great transitions like you have with the builds. Adding other iOS devices to work remotely with one another was pure genius. Keep up the great work and updates. Clearly a phenomenal app and product. Great add of transitions! Keep it up! Thanks
This is ok, not super. I love the mac version, but I feel this doesn't take advantage of the touch enough. In particular, I'd love the ability to add objects that are just doodles: maybe a short handwritten comment, maybe a circle or cross through of some comments, which I could then resize, recolor, retexture (as a line drawing). For a desktop, having circles and such as defined objects is critical because drawing is cumbersome. Here, the inability to directly draw on my presentation without using them removes it's spontaneous possibilities. Ie, this is a touch app! And I can't directly create images in it. How does this make any sense? Serious fail. I always load it up thinking I'll maybe use it and I never ever do. And I can't import PDF drawings! Don't tell me to take a screenshot either - PDF images have blank spaces while screenshots are filled in (so don't behave the same in a presentation). Conclusion - worse functionality than desktop app (eg PDF imports) and obvious touch features (freehand drawing) are absent. Where's the benefit?
This is an excellent app made by Apple. I do most of my work presentations at the iPad and they are stunning. Too bad it can't create custom templates. I just love it.
The new keynote needs to be backwards compatible with the older keynotes
This update has rendered existing presentations utterly inaccessible. Why is that? Useless, needless update. Very dissatisfied. I'll not be using Keynote anymore until this is fixed.
Key board keeps blinking. App keeps closing. Waste of money!
Has improved since the last update. Please add styling options such as "bold" and "italics" to the top of the keyboard like in the Pages app.
Needs an update with more features.
In first time when i received a power point in email a can open it with keynote and recogniced it now i dont now what happen but doesnt do it. Please fix it
Utilized this app constantly. Since update though it will not open and crashes constantly when trying to do so, rendering this app useless
I just paid ten dollars for this and I cannot even change the color of the text to the color I want. The colors they offer are ridiculous and I have no clue why they don't have more updated, expansive color options. Where is the color wheel?! That is so basic. I am disappointed Apple. Step it up. All the other benefits of this app are useless if i can't pick the color I want for my text.
For those wanting to use drop box, this is possible in ios7. In Keynote tap the arrow icon, top left hand side. Choose "Open in another app". In the next screen "Choose a format" for your presentation. Tap on the presentation you want to Dropbox. The presentation is created and you are asked to choose an app. Tap on "Choose app" and then select Dropbox.
Really good app and does not freeze at ALL!!!! How do you transfer slideshows to a windows 7? I tried but don't know how
I simply love it. I use it at school and everybody is just stunned when they see what you can do with it. ...even the teachers. Always an A. At first they didn't even believed that I did all of my presentations on my iPhone. But it would even be impressive done on a computer. I end every presentation with the Apple logo. That's why a lot of other guys bought it just because of me now, too. (Apple should pay me for this... yeah definitely.) Great Job done here also with the iOS 7 redesign! What I would love to see would be an iOS 7 redesign to the Keynote Remote app and being capable of not just making screenshot pictures but screenshot movies in iOS 8 as well. (maybe more templates) I apologise in case I did some mistakes. Greetings from Germany ,Steve
Without the ability to recognize Dropbox this app. Is totally useless to me, therein it affects my computer app. as well. I have to use power point on my computer and then I can choose from several apps on my iPad to view & Edit my PP presentations. All iPad presentation apps, except keynote interact seamlessly with Dropbox.
...
It's great when it isn't crashing. Alas, that's all it seems to do anymore. I expect better from Apple.
Get the app
I had upgraded to the new Keynote, and I'm finding the old version was better. This new version is horrible for presentations. It's slow, buggy, and at time unresponsive. Which is kind of disappointing, because Keynote was my go to for presentations "on the fly" Now I've been creating PDF copies and doing slideshows with a PDF reader. It gets the job done, but I really miss the old iWork.
Really good for homework and stuff. Please make a app like ifile
I was surprised how little this app could do. I was expecting it to have lots of cool features, but the amount of things you can do is so limited. You can't even make it play on its own, and I was disappointed. It worked fine though.
Never thought I'd see a BSOD on an iPhone but it just happened. Standard keynote presentation, crashes when exiting app or switching to another app.
Since the last update this app is awful. It looks great, but it freezes and closes so much that it's pretty much useless. Also there is a delay when you play slides which is a big problem when timing matters.
The app crashes when entering new images in a presentation. Never did this before. It is aggravating because I have to start all over again. What is wrong?
We love the fact these updated apps spread to all machines on our account. I do not know of another app that is so smooth and workable. It is not intended to be some perfect high level PowerPoint. Get a MacBook Pro wirh retina display and OfficeMac 2011 for that. This app just works. Tired of hearing from people who probably have not rebooted in forever or take time to remove items that are updated from working memory.
Great app. No problems. Apparently everyone thinks that if they find a problem, they should rate 1 star. Stupid people...
Hi
this app is awesome i also recommend 1.) i movie 2.) pages 3.) Keynote 4.) Garage band These are some nice apps you can get
Redo it
Will freeze when playing over airplay to my Apple TV.
Keynote would be far better if there was the ability to import photos from locations other than iCloud and/or Camera Roll. As is, Keynote is too limited.
This app is perfect! I love it's PowerPoint feel and how it takes pictures from camera roll. This is not as detailed and fancy but it is great for a mobile device! Blows all other slideshow apps out of the water!
This app used to be perfect. Until iOS 7 came out. The new version is horrible. I can't select presentations now. It used to be just fine. Ios7 has ruined everything.
I don't want to wait while you "update" my presentations. I want to play them. A lack of consumer centricity will be the demise of Apple.
I don't want to wait while you "update" my presentations. I want to play them. A lack of consumer centricity will be the demise of Apple.
This App CRASHES every time on my iPad mini and my iPhone 5S. I have the updated system software on both devices and the App CRASHES upon opening every single time. Apple needs to fix this based upon the number of customer complaints!!
Before the update I was creating books for my classes that I teach. But ever since the update I can no longer access any of my presentations. When I try it crashes. I would recommend not buying this app until it is fixed. Once it is then I would recommend it.
I use many good videos that are not available on itunes. It is nearly impossible to integrate these into a presentation. Also, the choices of templates is so limited compared with other presentation options. Please make it possible to put video into the presentation without moving it to the photos. That really is a ridiculous workaround. Also need to be able to use other video formats.
Wow, such simplicity to manipulate and create any thing with your fingers. Truly the world is at your finger tips.
Keynote + iPad = a perfect combination
It's great! But it's missing one thing. The log out button, I can't find it anywhere.
It's a great app! But it needs some stability and power improvements.
Crash crash crash... I have 9 iPads and use them for presentations routinely... This app once upon a time made creating & pitching ideas fun and easy...now it's frustrating and unreliable. SAD
How can I download this application ?
This is a awesome useful app but it has been frustrating because: The keyboard doesn't pop up when you double tap to edit. When you tap a word that is misspelled, the app seams to freeze or lag. When I try to past text that a copied from another app, no select-select all-past menu comes up?! Please fix the app to work the way it should. AND PLEASE FINALY UPDATE THE KEYNOTE REMOTE APP, so that it fits the 4inch screens on the newer iPhones!!!
Great!
I lost all of my powerpoints on this app. I guess it deleted all of them after i updated it but this app is not trustworthy
If you love the old Keynote, you will love this all new Keynote even more. The new interface is clean and intuitive.
This app is amazing but needs emphasis effects like spin, ect... I used to use ppt. But switched to keynote when I got my ipad/ipod and I love it! I just miss emphasis effects so that I can make different things stand out at different times on one slide. Please add these, it would be really amazing and I would give it 5 stars and recommend it to a lot more of my friends.
Bad. Sound works only once in a while. Crashes almost every time I use it for more than 5 minutes.
There is no way to edit bullet points (such as making a numbered list). It would also be great to have a way to edit the spacing in between lines. I find myself constantly having to switch to my laptop to make necessary formatting edits for these presentations.
The old version had a replace button for pictures. We used this product as a template and just replaced the pictures with updated pictures, didn't have to resize or anything. The new version does not have the replace button on the shortcut for pictures; this is a problem. Can you put the replace button back on the shortcut for pictures
Not very user friendly on the iPad. I am sure it works fine on a Mac.
More choices in themes and many more useful tools that make my School Presentation life with my iPad easier! Thank you so much!!!
All my work is gone! It crashes constantly on my iPhone and iPad. My work is suppose to be in the cloud but I can't get anything! Fix it and fix it now.
Please, Apple, fix this! I can no longer use my iPad to access and give my slideshows. Thank you!
Would love to change colors myself of backgrounds. Simple thing to update.
Starts & BAILS out ......if iCloud is on.... NOTICED other OFFICE type updates are iCloud challenged according to other users also. Perhaps it's the iOS update?
