Please have mobile boarding passes update for delays and gate changes. I should not have to go to status to find out.
Good app. It does all it needs to do and more. However, united lost my bag.
As a frequent flier, the app really helps me check the delays departure and arrival times right on the go. Bit one complaint, I can't seem to add a mobile boarding pass and I have to wait 1 hour before boarding to get them. But still, this is the best airline app made so far just please fix the boarding pass issue.
The best airline app by far. Keep up the good work and frequent updates!
Traveling with United Airlines and this application has been very useful and informative. Waiting for my connection at O'Hare and the app was updated with flight information before the gate was updated. I would say there is room for improvement but for all other airline apps I have used United (by far) has the best app. Up to the date information and easy to share flight information with family or friends. Great work United and look forward to working for this airline soon!
The app works exactly as expected. Even had a new reservation ready for me that I did from my computer.
Good job. Only complaint.....make it easier to insert reservation into Passbook. Do that and it's a 5 for me
Seems simple and easy to use. Cannot wait to give it a whirl on my next dive trip. Do we know if the app is waterproof?
Great application !
The only concern is that it takes a while to update if your flights are canceled or ect. Other than that it has been very helpful.
The addition of timetables is nice but they should be available on the device. If someone is in the air and their flight is late they most likely won't have internet access.
I love this app.
United has done it again. It's the best airline app in the land. Kudos, UA.
Yes! I use a bunch of air travel apps, but this app just might make United my preferred airline. A flight was cancelled due to weather within my itinerary, and as my plane touched down at my first destination, I switched on my phone and checked the app. Sure enough it told me I was rebooked with all the details. No waiting in line, nothing! Made a bad situation much better. Thanks United! Awesome!
United has done a great job with this app. They make it very easy to book flights, check in, and board. I use this app daily for a number of purposes. I am a 1K, and have flown over 145 flights so far in 2013, most of them have been booked or checked in using the United app. This app not only rivals other airlines' apps, but actually destroys them in functionality. If you fly United at all, then you need this app. There are a few things I would really like to see. First, I would love to be able to track my bags from the app. Since all of that data is in Shares, it seems that it would be easy enough to add (I know, as easy as it is to do any program overhaul). I also have a 6 month old daughter. She flies with my wife and I as a lap child. When there is an infant on the itinerary, we can not use mobile boarding passes. Since the app can handle multiple people on the boarding passes, why can it not handle the infant as well? It would make my life easier, and save United a lot of paper. I would also love to see some changes to the My Account pages. I would love to have the progress bar available to see, just like on the website. I should also be able to see RPUs and GPUs and use them for upgrades from the app. My really silly wish list would love to have a route map on the app as well. As an update to this review, I would love to see the fare class on the reservation pages. Last, but not least, I'm really eager for a universal app so that I can use the app on my iPad in a native form.
New update greatly improves usability. Actually is useful, lets you do anything you really need for a flight, check in, see flight updates etc in a easy way
This app is well designed and is aesthetically pleasing. Great features that make traveling easier!
An amazing example of a corporate app that actually provides value. This app has all the features a traveler needs in a presentation that is both aesthetically pleasing and easy to use.
Great for tracking flights for family, for airport pickup, too
Limited functionality, can't even see all the data in your account. Can't do anything with reward miles.
Every time I bring my tickets into this app in order to use the e-boarding pass, the app completely misses that my MileagePlus account is linked to the app and you will never get credit for your miles flown unless you call and ask that they be manually added. Then, they ask you for a confirmation number which is different from a reservation number and which never appears on the itinerary from the travel agent. This forces them to look up your flights manually and they will tell you they can't do it by name, dates, and flight numbers. 2 hours of admin every trip. Booooo!
No longer a good airline thanks to united's incompetence. After the merger things have been going downhill fast.
Horrible app. Old version was simple, quick and intuitive. This interface is confusing, slow, and riddled with errors and bugs. Changing seats is totally buried. Can't tell what amenities are on upcoming flights. Leave it to United to take a useful app and mess it up.
I like the look and design, but that doesn't do me much good when the app freezes up while trying to get through security or board a plane. United apparently trade substance for style and struck out miserably.
I sure miss Continental
After wasting 20 minutes just trying to enter departure and destination (never did accomplish this) I gave up and tried another airline. The lack of usability and terrible "design" of this app is appalling. One of the worst I have ever tried to use- ever. United is a great airline and deserves so much better. This app is useless and simply does not work. Don't waste your time on this. United, fix this app (after you fire the hack who threw it together).
Crashes when trying to check in. Please fix (and test!!!).
I would think that the app would be able to support landscape mode on the ipad. The rotation is not enabled. It needs to be fixed.
This App version changed from excellent to very bad in one update.. The old app was great especially when on the go.bring it back United and fire your UI designer
Was happy with older app- this one is rather useless! I agree with those who say - "If it ain't broken, don't fix it!" Can't find anything new worth using!
The new version looks nice but it is much harder to use. For example, old version would quickly show the boarding pass, gate, board time and seat assignments. Now I have to navigate a few levels deep to get this basic info. I never remember how to do it especially when rushing through security. If it's on a printed boarding pass then it should be together on the first screen of the mobile app. This new version looks nicer than the old but it came at the expense of ease of use. Not a good trade off.
Since the latest update, the integration with Passbook is awful. Boarding passes disappear when needed yet show up hours before. No delays to blame, the app is off. I also have not seen an option to make same day changes since the latest updates. Useful feature and yet you've tossed it or it doesn't work. Lastly, what is this useless Travel Assistant card? It has never shown any info.
I love the functions that this app can do and I use it for all of my flights, but the new layout is awful--way too difficult/annoying to navigate. It seems y'all just made it more complicated and confusing. Please please please fix or change back to old one. Side note: I must say the airplane on the home screen that moves when you tilt your screen is a fun touch
Rows upon rows of useless menu options. Travel assistant? A wallet? This is an air travel app right?
Can't check in. After enter confirmation number and click continue, it will crash.
Unable to log-in. Keeps telling you that your password, user-name, or account info is incorrect. Your account gets locked out. No problems accessing account online. Not worth the customer service phone calls and password resets that don't work.
This app deleted my mobile boarding passes right as boarding started, leaving me to sprint to get the more reliable physical tickets before my plane took off. Such a headache. Also on top of that the "flight status" feature is absolutely broken. Said my flight was on time, however the flight had been delayed for 2 hours, and no update was ever made. Great job United, keep up the amazing and phenomenal work.
Is there a way to change seats on the app? I've looked for the last 5 mins. If it's that hard to find or if it's not possible it's a poorly designed app. Lose lose just like the airline itself.
Since the app change, this app is not nearly as user friendly. The app has too much going on and you cannot easily get what you need if you're rushing through the airport. I gave this a few months to try to get used to it and I am still not happy with it. I like how you USED to be able to see all your flights on the main page, and could select one to get your mobile pass and you were done. I usually have multiple flights booked at a time and that gave me clean access for a quick check. Now you have to click a tiny button and the reservations are squished in a side window pane opening. Hoping this interface changes...
If you are downloading this app it means you didn't plan ahead and got stuck with United. Your better off finding a guy off Craig's list with an ultralight to fly you wherever your going. This app is not going to help you with your delayed/canceled flight, maintenence issue,or lost baggage anyways.
This is one of the most poorly designed apps that I have ever used. Just another example of United airlines poor use of technology.
Continental (aka United) had the best app in the industry until this ios7 version came out. It's a great example of a tech department looking for justification of their annual budget. Why did you screw up such a simple, intuitive interface with this? I'm young, tech savvy and I honestly still can't figure out the icons. I end up scrolling through all of them twice til I find my boarding pass or whatever I'm looking for. Two stars because it functions without bugs. Otherwise this version of the app is a huge failure.
This most recent update to the United app is horrible. I can't find anything except my One Pass number and my existing reservations. It is difficult to make new reservations, check flight status and I have still haven't figured out how to make changes to an existing flight using the app. I have resorted to using United's regular website for all of my needs.
One of the most important aspects of a App like this is its ability to inform the user of flight delays. However, this App and United do an abysmal job of this most important function. My 10:00 AM flight from Milan was delayed by 80 minutes. This delay was known by United at least eight hours in advance, as the plane that caused the delay was late taking off in the US. Yet, my App did not warn me. And when I checked in, the boarding pass still had the original time on it. When I called United to find out why I had not received any sort of alert (App, text or email), they told me that my account had no alerts associated with it. Perhaps this App would have worked if the airline worked, but a bad airline has become an abysmal one after the merger with Continental.
As I power user I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I average more than 125K a year except for 2013. Nothing is intuative . The seat map app barely works and the mobile often does not compare with the PC. The standby lists are hopeless now unless you are within a few hours of take off. The new app looks pretty but much functionality has been lost or is at least hard to find.
Tried to use this app to reserve a flight for the first time today. Big mistake! After entering all the info and booking the flight, I got an error message saying that the traveller name was different from the account name. This was after logging in as myself and selecting my name from the pull-down menu. So then I tried the website, booked the same flights for the same cost, but got a different error message. End result was that while I was trying to book my flight, United increased the fare by $100 in the middle of my booking. Wasted 2 hours and $100 by trying to book on this app. Will use Expedia next time.
Can't add to passbook.... Please fix!!!!!
Incredibly disappointed with the update. It is extremely confusing and difficult to use. As far as I can tell, it's not even letting me purchase a ticket! Unless you have the meaning of every one of their little symbols memorized, you'll be banging your head up against a wall for an hour playing a guessing game to find what you're looking for. PLEASE fix this tragic fail of an update and turn the app back into something that can be used!
Bring back the old app!
The award search function display is ugly and dysfunctional . Everytime you open it up it goes right to the top. I miss their old app
When I fly I often have many short layovers so to have all my boarding passes in one place is the best. I can check my seat, gate and boarding group.... PERFECT. When I have to fly other airlines the process isn't as smooth.
No issues and has EVERYTHING you need. No complaints here!
Recent update might have been the most customer friendly thing United has ever done for its customers.
This app is horrible. It won't remember your flights from one screen to the next so you always have to re-enter your confirmation number. I used it to check-in and made sure it had my boarding pass ready to go. When I got to the front of the security line it had forgotten my boarding pass! I had to leave the line, go wait in line to get a printed pass, then wait in the security line again. Thank god I arrived 90 min early. Oh, and when it asks for your Customer ID, it wants you to enter your credit card security code. Very bad design, worse implementation, and painful to use. Fly Delta, they have an app that runs circles around this one.
Prettier than the old version, with fashionable designs, but confusing and hard to use. Four rows of buttons do away with words, and instead use strange hieroglyphics. Pressing each mystery button yields new surprises every time. Tiny boarding pass got the ire of the TSA. Tiny buttons you need them in the middle, and then huge buttons on the bottom, in fashionably irregular sizes.
Why is it so difficult to create a boarding pass and add to passbook? Many of the capabilities already built into the iPhone and iOS, but it doesn't work for this app. American Airlines has figured it out, Delta Airlines has figured it out, other airlines have figured it out, but not United. So sad. They are so close, but they make something that it is easy on other apps much more difficult.
I opened this app and instant disappointment, it's completely sideways. Most people use their iPad's in landscape mode as that is how most iPad cases facilitate use (I use a logitech keyboard case). I can't believe they would launch something that doesn't work for most user, I won't even bother trying to use this to see how any of the features work. As a former UI designer it pains me that someone could do such a horrible job, then I remained it's United Airlines, much like their customer experience every other major US airline does it better.
Revised: ok. Seat change option seems to move from itinerary info screen to under " check in options". So maybe it's there but since it's been moved I could not find it right when I need to select a new seat. Very confusing. Original concern: At 24 hours out the seat map and option to choose an economy plus seat as an upgrade disappears from the application options? Why? It was there a few minutes before then at 24 hours it's gone. So I have to call the premier phone line to get an upgrade to economy plus per the rules of the program. What then is the point of this application if it removes the members right to change their seat. What is going on then ?
2 stars only because the electronic ticket worked without any problems. However, on my connection flight, gave me the wrong gate information and I missed my flight because of it. Lesson learned, don't trust the gate number - always double check with the tv's in the terminals.
I liked that it shows me where my plan is coming from and if it's on time for that leg.
The app worked well for our recent travel. I was able to check in and change seats from it. The app was nearly useless in the foreign airport without internet access, it needs an offline mode to at least view the previously viewed reservation info.
I fly regularly with United, but am also a frequent traveler with the other airlines. You don't realize how fantastic this app really is until you use one of the other airline apps. I can tell you from first-hand experience that the other airlines are in the dark ages as compared to this new United app. Some of them are still struggling with something as simple as mobile boarding passes, hard as it is to believe. United, if you're reading this, keep up the GREAT work and keep the performance improvements coming.
Slow, difficult to navigate, out of sync with the rest of united's databases. You can do better, united.
It saved my sanity during the winter storm and 4 flight cancellations.
This app works well I suppose IF you have constant internet connectivity. Before this major upgrade your travel data was downloaded once and was available off-line.
Would get five stars if supported landscape mode. Cannot use full landscape keyboard. Otherwise, very feature rich.
A+, this is one of the best planned out and well made apps I've ever used. Wow!!
Please add a landscape option for the iPad
United, you used to have one of the most intuitive, practical app. The new version is so much worse in every way. You replaced the menus with a bunch of symbols that don't make any sense. There's a bunch of glitches, for example displaying flights that I don't even have booked. Just bad!! Go back to the old one!!
United's App UI is pretty good. However, to see your recent activity it takes several minutes or eventually fails before displaying. Never had this problem in previous version. Issues has nothing to do with wifi speed, as it has been tested in a variety of scenarios. Please fix!
This latest update stinks. Deleting app.
All the info I need when traveling, simple layout, very cool. One more reason to maintain my 1K status.
I typically fly Alaskan and really like their app, especially that I can check in using the app, claim total baggage, then have the option to pay for bags at airport. United, if your app had this option I'd give it 4 of 5.
I thought app updates were made to make apps better. Not the case here. I feel like this is a first generation app: - Not optimized for iPad - Confusing icons. - Less capable reservation system compared to old app. - Poorly presented information. Just a poor job, when you would expect an airline to invest in this effort.
An application that is based on expediting a process like airline travel needs to understand the flow of the user between preflight, checkin, etc. This app is getting pretty close to mastering that flow.
The last version was unusable and seemed like nothing more than an after thought. This version is way better and I honestly don't see AU faults other than Passbook integration. Great job guys, keep it up!
The app doesn't recognize my password and the united "help", isn't.
The app doesn't recognize my password and the united "help", isn't.
Being a frequent United flyer, the app can make or break my experience with United. 95% of the time the app provides me with relevant information that helps me be more productive with my flying time.
Nice revisions to the new interface introduced in 2.0.10. But I still can't add my MileagePlus card to Passbook. Other airlines' apps allow this, and it's very convenient. Please add this functionality!
Just tried to make a reservation since upgrade.... Change it back!!! Doesn't work And functionality gone... Fire those behind the changes.. Update: still not working despite discussion and report to UA web services... They were " unaware".
United data not able to show!
I get this message a lot. What is one to do? Book another carrier.
I used to really enjoy the app, but I cannot use it to book travel anymore. I receive an error message that says data services are unavailable.
United app is not operating. It was working fine the other day and days on. But not today (all day). Getting a feedback that data is not available. I've deleted the app and uploaded it again. Same ole problem!!!!! Lease fix the problem!!!!
Lots of functionality is currently not working, keep getting "united data services unavailable"
This app works perfect, no need to print out your boarding pass, just scan your codes when required, saves you a lot of time. A good feature they can add is an option to add your license ID to your boarding pass for verification purposes, in that way it will be completely wallet less and save even more time.
Downloaded this yesterday and it worked well while I was researching award availability..... But today, it keeps giving me an error message that it can't get data (or something like that).... Went to the actual UA website using Safari, and I could check award availability just fine..... Not a useful app if it's not going to work.... I give it two stars. One for each hour that it has actually worked throughout two days.... ;-)
I work for American but united has the best mobile app. It's easy to use and has a lot of features
This is great from the memory and intuitive pages.
I haven't experienced the problems with crashing, not letting you log in, or flight statuses as others have. I've used the app for 3-4 flights and each time it has worked just as smoothly as if I was using a paper ticket. I like being able to check in beforehand and have the boarding pass all in one place.
Delta's app let's customers track the status of their checked baggage. Get with it, United!
As usual, United has the very worst tech. This app is a complete and utter design failure. A case example in what not to do, let's clutter everything so we make easy things difficult, like my reservation!! Good grief.
This update destroyed what was the best airline app in the industry! Not user friendly and upgrades and changes show up after you have already flown! AWFUL!! Change it back UNITED
Doesn't add cards after checking in or boarding pass. Seems like a bug.
Flight was delayed 35 minutes and it never appeared on the app, in fact it still shows on time...
I appreciate that the new app looks better and has more features but please please don't use meaningless icons rather than words. I don't know what anything does. Decide what is most important to show on the home screen and use words + icons or no icons at all.
Great updated design in 2.x. Went from ugly but functional to beautiful and still functional.
