Customer Reviews

  • Good Overall / Couple Helpful Improvements

    by 11 Hats

Easy to navigate and aesthetically pleasing app with lots of nice features. Date selection for "Flight Schedule" needs to be changed to a calendar format rather than scrolling. Every time I've tried to use this, I've had to back out to review a calendar. Flight pricing would be another nice option to see here as well. Overall, good tool that I use often- best airline app I've worked with.

  • Needs one more feature

    by thebmoc95

I wish the app had the ability to see where my plane is coming in from and it's status, expected arrival time, etc. Then it will be a five star app!

  • Passbook done right

    by Lehn0058

I normally fly Delta, and they also provide passbook support like AA. But, Delta does not update your gate information once you have added your ticket to passbook. AA does and they alert you when the change happens. This is the best passbook implementation for an airline I have seen yet. Very useful!

  • Good but...

    by ZeroFail

No way to exit Sudoku game in app. Needs to be fixed ASAP!

  • There is a problem with the map

    by Josephshere

There aren't any orange dots anymore, so it is hard to select a city because you don't know which ones you're clicking on. The orange dots disappeared in this most recent update. A fix would be nice. Thanks. Love the app

  • Great App

    by Aventador_101

Does everything it says it does and is wonderful if a gate ever changes. I would like to see more US Airways integration though..

  • Solid, fast, fluid.

    by Gabbstuh

Just downloaded and I really like the layout of the app. It's nice and responsive. Plus it has sudoku! Cute.

  • Yes!

    by st.danny

I travel often, primarily on American, and this is hands down the best airline app for iOS. If the developers are actually reading this, please talk someone into enabling passbook importing when departing from Tucson (TUC). They officially support mobile boarding pass scanning now.

  • Good app...

    by Mgrite

Overall this app is very useful and fairly up to date with flight changes. Frustrations: no ability to wait list for 1st class when using the app to get your boarding pass. Old boarding passes take too long to roll off after a flight or if your flight is cancelled.

  • Has Almost Everything

    by CPMitch

Great app with some really great features. It would be 5 stars if I could do upgrades on the app without being sent to the AA website.

  • So easy to use

    by SomebodyIUsedtoknow

Love how quick it is to check in and get ur boarding pass. So much better than aa.com which is annoying with all the upsells and verbiage!

  • Well done

    by TV Weasel

I fly a lot on different carriers. This is my most reliable airline app. It just works.

  • Great layout and information; in-app flight booking needed

    by Josephshere

This app is great for traveling on American. It updates you on departures, gates, baggage claims and arrivals. You can upgrade seats and view your place on the standby. However, it would be nice if you could book your flights (with money and points) in the app, not the app linking you to the internet.

  • Easy and nice user interface with cool features

    by Ryanman321

This app has a new interface. 2 buttons and your boarding pass is on your home screen. It has terminal maps, games, and best of all it warns you when your flight has been changed to a different terminal. It's saved me. You can also purchase plan tickets but I haven't figured out how to use frequent flyer miles through the app to pay for flights.

  • Beautiful app

    by jakush

Very nice interface, especially the menu with the slide-back effect on the current screen. But, there should be a way to book flights through the app, instead of showing the mobile version of aa.com.

  • Great, useful app

    by dcmac40

I'm not sure what all these negative reviews are about. I've used this app since it first came out and they've done nothing but improve it with every update. I'm able to book flights, get my boarding passes for all the legs of my trips, I can check my miles and elite status. It's really well laid out overall, so in my experience thumbs up!!

  • Easy!

    by 6!.4gxdvbby

Thus app has become a must have travel companion

  • Sudoku is flawed. Seriously?

    by DeaPeaJay

So was surprised to see Sudoku built into the app, but whatever. So I'm playing it on the intermediate level and the preset numbers have boxes with two eights. And rows with two eights. Hello? That's not a valid sudoku board. Seriously? You add a random game in for no reason and then it doesn't even work? App for flights though has been fine for me. No complaints.

  • Excellent

    by Spencru

My wife and I used this app for the first time today. Not only was it convenient to check in and get our boarding passes the night before, but it got us to the front of the security line due to it's convenience for TSA. The app made our traveling experience so easy.

  • Terrible App

    by Cashibeh

It doesn't really do anything. For most useful functions, it loads the mobile version of aa.com which works half the time.

  • 'Stupid' app

    by Ankank

    1) doesnt recognize confirmation nbr which everyone else does 2) doesnt allow u to link flight to ur frequent flyer nbr even after u log in with that info! 3) if u have checked in using website, wont show boarding pass 'Stupid' because it doesnt understand user or the data. Whats the point of developing a mobile app if you cant use it

  • Lousy app

    by jules728

There is no logic to the way this works..or doesn't work. No passbook, can't add itinerary to my calendar? After I entered text, I could not get the keyboard to go away. Had to close the app and start again. Need lots ok work

  • No passbook boarding pass

    by sept988

The app is an improvement, but it's kind of mind boggling how AA can release and app with no option to add the boarding pass to the passbook. Untitled and Delta both have that option so that's a bad move (or lack thereof) by American. Hope security will accept a saved image emailed to me....

  • Not working

    by Robertycox

App doesn't pull up My trip. Says record locator is incorrect but there is no place to correct it

  • Update 2: still not much use except for boarding pass

    by BobInChi

Most recent version boasts all sorts of features but still fails on the basics. Doesn't operate well on weak WiFi or 3G. Can't request upgrade from reservation. Really not much good except for boarding pass. Earlier review: Most recent update still doesn't let you change seats after check-in. Rest of my earlier review still stands. Earlier Review: Barely performs the basics. Slow. Non-intuitive. Clumsy. Doesn't update itineraries in a timely way. Won't clear outdated or viewed notifications. Nowhere near as good as United's app. Disappointing.

  • FFMMM

    by 2MDiamond

What a cumbersome app. Took forever to get a simple boarding pass not to mention change a seat.

  • Requires iOS7!!

    by Plain-O-Texas

I have seen the other reviews but have to reiterate the shortsightedness in requiring iOS7. My old 3GS cannot load iOS7 and I'm not going to purchase a new phone just to run this app. I guess I'll have to fly with other carriers!

  • Lacks a lot compared to peers

    by JoeQTraveler

Compared to my other airline apps, AA does not provide me as much functionality. It may look nice but I have issues accessing my trips after my departure time. This means if I don't save my boarding pass to passbook, it disappears from the app entirely. So much for paperless travel when flying American.

  • Lacking, slow

    by :^)

Painfully slow. Takes forever to sign in (if it even lets you sign in), often doesn't show upcoming flights so you need to type in name and record locator, which takes a long time to pull it up, difficult to change seats. Just like their website-very slow. User interface is not intuitive, difficult to navigate, slow to respond (if it even will respond) and overall design is poor. And no Passbook?

  • Buggy--may fail when you need it

    by TheGundark

This app's GUI is improved, but it is still very buggy. I am sitting on an AA plane right now and all of the flights for the rest of my trip have disappeared from the app. Now what? No flight info to refer to and I will have to get paper tickets.

  • It would be nice if it had more than basic functionality

    by brandote

The boarding passes / check-in feature is nice, but app won't update passbook if there are gate or seat changes. What's the point? That's literally the ONLY thing the app does and it doesn't do it right. Every other feature redirects to aa.com which is a whole other mess.

  • Can't check in

    by Conomist

When you want to check in for an international flight, you have to confirm that you are who you say you are. Fine, except that IT DOESN'T WORK. It never accepts a phone number--always telling you that the phone number you input was too long. Fix this bug please.

  • Not very useful

    by 4Chatham

Doesn't seem to be all that useful. Can't book flights of check prices.

  • Not very smart

    by Expat251

Not a very smart application. Doesn't interface with desktop data stored on their servers. Won't recognize their own record codes

  • Requires iOS 7 !

    by FormerUser2

I hate iOS 7, but this app stupidly requires it. I'd rather remain w/iOS 6 than upgrade and use this poorly-rated app. American obviously forgot about the 10's of millions of users of older phones that CAN'T upgrade to iOS 7.

  • Completely useless

    by SillyMacBoy

AA, look at jetblue's or Delta's app since you need help with yours. Seemingly no option to book a flight or see seat availability without logging in. Also, if I press the CALENDAR ICON when selecting a departure date, a CALENDAR should appear, not a date selection scroller.

  • Can't generate a boarding pass or a passbook, but you can play Sudoku!

    by thatjustin

It's hard to know what they were thinking. I bet some consultants made a lot of money building a useless high profile app for a major airline.

  • Welcome to the new American

    by Pilot -

Uh ... Yea if this app is an indication of AA I think I'll wait on my plan to leave UNITED for American - US sorry Doug - can't handle it !

  • Can't Sign Up

    by Appletheevilemprire

Junk, can't sign up for an account. I guess these small airlines are hurting for resources. Will try the trusty internet tomorrow.

  • Can't download ios 7 ONLY!!!!

    by nttx

Way to go American. Just assume that everybody is using a newer device and/or wants to upgrade to ios 7 garbage. Worthless.

  • Passes never update.

    by CEOphlo

Advantage passbook pass doesn't update at all.

  • Don't trust this app or you'll be sorry

    by Katiecr

Worst app ever. There was a mistake on the boarding pass that I had on the American air mobile app so security wouldn't let me thru so I missed my flight. I woke up at 4am to make a 6am flight and had to wait at the airport until 830am all because of this terrible app. Beware.

  • No electronic boarding pass!!! Why not???

    by Newbie1791

It is useless in that regard!

  • Hardly an app

    by GiantStride

Besides the boarding pass part, nothing else works. You can't even book a flight. Useless.

  • Add baggage check-in time

    by Cbird31

Please add the baggage check-in time to the flight reservation. Every airport has different baggage check-in times. Unfortunately this is not standardized by airline (please change that, too, American). That way, travelers don't have to search for it, or be surprised at the gate when they miss the check-in time, especially for checked bags.

  • What's the Point

    by nursenancy23

Flew yesterday from Orlando to San Jose, CA--had to change planes at DFW. When I checked in using the app, it only issued a boarding pass for the first leg of the flight. What's the point of using the app if I still have to get a boarding pass at the gate for the second flight?

  • Good except to book flights

    by Mpetty7956

Calendar isn't working to be able to book flights or check prices. Please fix! Also couldn't find a way to use miles to do the same. Has a great information of all else though!

  • Ignores Seniors- not intuitive

    by MrConstructive

Type too small and greyed out. Wasted screen real estate with small, unreadable buttons and fonts. Not intuitive. Haven't you folks tried Southwest or United? Never did get a round trip price quote. The web site is easy. This app is unworthy of America's largest airline.

  • When it works, it's useful

    by whyohwhyamihere

The only thing I wanted out of this app was the Passbook boarding pass. Unfortunately it appears that if you have multiple legs to your journey you can't get a Passbook ticket for any of the flights after the first one.

  • Awful

    by AA so bad

Not up to date with accurate flight information, was approximately 3 hours delayed with info = NOT HELPFUL

  • Buggy notify me feature

    by AlyCat09

When I am in the notify me by text portion of the check flight status after entering the number where I wish to receive my notifications there is no way to close the number key pad and if I have not previously checked "agree" before that I cannot proceed. Instead I have to hit back, go to the previous screen, come back, then hit agree, then enter the number in order for "done" to illuminate. After that to add insult to my time there's no clear confirmation I've gotten my notification set up. Thanks

  • I love the new version

    by Scottie808

Nice userinterface. Clean look. Cool maps and options. Integration with passbook on iPhone. Huge improvement

  • Painful sign-in process

    by andresperez327

I don't get how it can be so complicated to just get a passbook boarding pass with AA when it's so simple with other airlines like united and us airways. Having to download the app and then having to call customer support is a little ridiculous if I can already view a PDF of my ticket. Get an 'Add to PassBook' button already!!

  • AAdvantage member

    by TDidddddddy

I was able to make a reservation but there seems to be no option for booking flights using miles. Is it possible to fix this?

  • App not very useful

    by Dissatisfieduser1

Can't add AA tickets purchase via third parties. Can't send tickets to Passbook. You can find a reservation but can't add it to your account -- you have to search for it everytime.

  • Confusing, doesn't work

    by nrobsosc

This app is nice looking, but it's hard to trust. The main screen is dominated by giant text saying "0 upcoming flights", even though I have a flight leaving tomorrow morning and I'm all checked in. It's unclear what's missing or how to fix it.

  • Little slow but looks great....

    by Spootster

Changing seats is where I had some slowness

  • Can't connect

    by harpotso

What's the point of the app if it continually fails to connect to the reservations server?

  • Won't show my Advantage flight

    by CB984

No matter that I enter my name and record locator, it refuses to find the flights

  • Horrible App

    by dcjsail

This app has no intuition or ease of use. It also makes the merger feel worse than it already is. Avoid this app at all cost.

  • Bug

    by germatt

Gives error message when trying to update or re-add AA Advantage card to Passbook.

  • bug report

    by dgxcswktffcseg

error retrieving pass: the pass can not be read because it isnt valid.

  • Was great, now borderline useless

    by play hard

Used to offer great features like looking up alternate flights and visibility to upgrade and standby lists before flights, now you can see your flight status. 100 other apps have that info.
