Developing mechanical systems with moving parts is now easier than ever with Autodesk® ForceEffect Motion™. Autodesk® ForceEffect Motion™ brings engineering to the point of the problem with a mobile engineering app for simulating design concepts in the field, in the office or in the classroom. This purpose built tool allows users to develop functional moving mechanical systems right on their mobile devices. Unlike the traditional approach of using paper, pencil, and a calculator to develop equations for design options, Autodesk ForceEffect Motion does all the simulation and engineering calculations for you right on your mobile device, enabling you to quickly and easily simulate design options during the concept phase to determine the viability of a design.
•Fast—Real-time solving capabilities and immediate feedback on the simulation performance. Print, email, or view a results report on any HTML-enabled browser or mobile device.
•Easy—Intuitive interaction for drawing, constraining, and simulating concepts. Simply tap objects to select, and then move, rotate, and scale.
•Complete—Solutions for statically determinate and over-constrained or indeterminate problems.
•Integrated—Store, share and collaborate with Autodesk 360. Easy workflow continuation into CAD with industry-standard export capabilities via DXF™ files and email for file sharing.
The Autodesk ForceEffect Motion engineering app is perfect for developing mechanical systems with moving parts upfront in the in the design process, some of the features include:
•Freehand sketching of elements and construction lines with snaps, constraints, inferencing and dimensions
•Import image as background, simple manipulation
•Create functional mechanical joints (welded, pinned, sliding, collar, crossing)
•Create supports (fixed pin, grounded, sliding collar)
•Mechanism animation and functional drag
•Analyze positional data by adding trace points (trace path, velocity vectors)
•Interactive graphing of trace points (velocity, displacement, acceleration)
•Create Actuators (motors, linear)
•Results reporting with picture, animation, graph and graph data table
•Save and load files from Autodesk Cloud
•Export mechanism directly to ForceEffect to easily conduct static load analysis

Very good and useful app. I was looking for something like that for long time. It is simple and easy to use, the only disadvantage is that there is no "copy and paste", but probably it is intentionally removed.
Learning about and now able to simply model and manipulate linkages. Simple interface, not too steep a learning curve and not too buggy. The price is right and it is all I needed to get my project off the drawing board, so to speak. Definitely recommend.
Great for trying lots of variations of possible solutions to mechanical engineering questions, also fun to reverse engineer things.
Good old fashioned mechanical fun. Who doesent love linkages?
UPDATE (12.May.2013)...latest version crashes constantly. I think it has something to do with the number of saved models because I can't reach the end of the 20 or so 'dots' along the bottom indicating all of them (including about 8-10 samples). _______ This is a FANTASTIC tool for physics (mechanics) students, mechanical engineers, etc. It is already a 5 star app, but the ability to assign mass to points or objects you can attach would be out of this world! Thanks Autodesk!
Great app for getting ideas across and initial design information.
That's very useful thanks Autocad
Amazing how easy and useful this app is!
Helps so much to visualize moving linkages, helps especially with homework
And its free how cool is that
Great free app! Very handy for design on the go.
It's amazing this type of App has made it to iOS. Great educational tool and basic engineering visualization tool.
It is difficult to create software that is easy to use and yet still provides meaningful design information. Autodesk has done a nice job with their software for the iPad.
Using your imagination for legonengineering
Useful tool to test and build mechanical bits. Not a professional tool, but for people who need to make basic movement and the forces need to make them work, this is an extremely capable tool.
Works very well and lets me test ideas quickly. Great for testing conceptual linkages for FIRST, VEX, and Lego robotics without having to build everything by hand first.
I have been using this app for quite a while and I m impress with its capabilities and accurate results for preliminary mechanical analysis of dynamic systems (simple ones of course) I look forward for more developments from Autodesk that can be taken to the field of engineering in such small format as my iPhone
Was expecting a toy! This is really cool. Having the ability to overlay a photo is great.
This is an amazing product.....when I can get it to run without crashing. 5 stars when that is done. I've tried cold start, only app running and everything else I can think of to keep it going. Sometimes it's fine so???? Love it. Please fix it. 3rd Gen ipad iOS 7.0.3 wifi/4g
This app crashes so often that it is unusable. Also, why no cut and paste, move, and duplicate functions?
I love the idea but I just hate that is will just crash almost every second.
Tons O fun
Amazing utility that shows what is possible for ipad engineering programs. I hope more are to come.
This Force effect app is a well performed software for those seeking ingineering apps. As well for those who have bigger imagination... Thanks Autodesk!!!
Amazing , Fantastic , Awesome app , I really love it , it's easy to use . As a mechanical engineering student , it help me a lot :)
Auto desk has really stepped up it's game and it's social responsibility by releasing a free engineering app of this impeccable quality. the user-friendliness of this program cannot be overstated. I am thoroughly impressed!
Downloaded app for my son, who is interested in engineering as a career. I have been on it as much as he, and love it.
I'm a designer and this is a nice little tool to use to play with concepts before I start laying it out for real!
I'm a drafter, and why this app doesn't really help me design, it is amazing at analysis
This application is awesome at illustrating motion from simple to complex action.
Both this and it's sibling are excellent analysis tools as well as top notch fun.
Have used it to concept linkages for work. Constructive criticism: Some of the controls could be easier to select. Sometimes it is impossible to select a control to edit angle of motion, so it is easier to delete and start over. It is an annoyance, and detracts from the absolute greatness of this app. Have been waiting for something like this for a while!
Great for prototyping!
Amateur inventors will like this app to quickly dummy up a mechanism that's struggling to get out of the old brain pan.
Hours of fun making simple machines and random motion devices. Wish it had curved members, mass, cables, springs, and dampers! Or gears!
This application helps for the motion Elements. Easy to calculate the force If is possible include architectural or simulation program Thank's
Great app. Hope to use in statics class. Also w FIRST robotics designs.
Very well done. Easy UI, realistic. Amazingly fun to use. Great hard core engineering app and more fun than any game I've seen.
It is good, but it keeps on crashing.
This app is amazing and very helpful.
The icons are all on top of each other. On touch 2nd gen. Other than that this app would be a huge help with predesigning character and mechanical rigs.
Awesome app for free!! Can't wait to see what comes next from Autodesk.
great engineering visualizer!!!
