Always takes almost half hour to process and sometime crashes after processing. But this app is fun
And nothing. Idea is cool!
This app has so much potential but it's not very stable. It often crashes when asking me if I would like to send a crash report from the previous crash.
I think this has a lot of potential and already very cool. With a little practice I will be able to get a great object.
I tried to memorialize a gingerbread house the kids made. First, I walked around the house placed on my kitchen island taking pictures. The result was something like a sombrero with the house in the center and the walls of my kitchen as the brim of the hat. There wasn't a way to crop just the part I wanted. Next, I tried putting the house in front of a blank wall on a lazy Susan and took pictures that way. Unfortunately, the app used the iPads compass and thought all the pictures were the same side of the house. Model failed. Finally, I put the house back on the kitchen island, but I had my husband holding a white backdrop and we walked around opposite sides of the house, me with the camera and him providing the blank wall. Success. Oh, except the app hung and I had to kill it and restart the rendering once, too. Finally got a neat model, but this app would drive me nuts if it was for regular rather than casual use.
Good quality, but it takes around 2-3 days to finish loading.. (｡-_-｡)
It needs the gyro view back. Also, it needs to be able to import pictures from the camera roll, etc. I have a much better camera app that takes fast and enhanced pictures. I would like to use it in conjunction with this app please.
The app did crash the first time I took a photo, but after that it little hickup its been working great! Thank you Autodesk!
You take a bunch of pictures, they get sent to the server, and they (eventually) come back as a 3d image! It's amazing technology with huge potential. It's super difficult to make 3d models on your own, but this app makes it easy for anyone with an iPhone and some patience!
I like this app as an architecture grad student for modeling ideas. The only problem is that the instructional pop up wont go away and I can't access the 'new capture' or 'process model'. I have to close the app, then open and tap what I need before the popup blocks me again. If this is resolved I would use and recommend a lot more in the future
Needs iOS7 support. Would like a photogrammetry tool for my industry. Need example first.
This is a fun app, but the upgrade to ios 7.02 killed it. It "works", but only if you close and reopen the app (5-10x) between capture and processing. It's a white background pop up stating the capture is completed and to press the thumbnail to process. Some images just won't open afterward. Hard to say why with this huge bug.
30 years ago, Autodesk used my tablet development without my permission (ACAD users, the tablet that came with your software was my development... It never worked for you because I'm left handed... Something AutoDesk would have known had they contacted me). All that's under the bridge now, especially because of the development work they've done in 3D and more because of the information they've returned to the world. Awesome job AutoDesk. Now fix my tablet.
It's amazing, it really is! But, whenever I try to make a fifth, it doesn't work! It says it's done downloading, but when I click on it, an X appears! Please fix this
This thing is amazing! It turns your iphone into a hand held 3d scanner. If you follow directions it works well.
Using it on my iPhone 5, plan to design some simple game models with this ;)
Works great on my iPhone 5. It's new technology so it's not perfect but I'm astounded at how well it can work.
Even my first model came out pretty good. Nice app !
neat thing to toy around with on ur phone
Crashes with every use. Now I remember why I uninstalled it.
Took hours to process the 3d image from about 20 photos. You have to create an autodesk account. It then uploads your photos, then processes them, and when the progress bar is done, it starts all over and says thinking more, then when thats done it starts over again and says finalizing, and then after a few hours, well i gave up at that point.
After the latest update to seven, this app has failed to work properly. The previous version of the software works flawlessly. It is my hope that in the next update Autodesk will fix these photonic transmission as well as compiled time issues which seem to be taking an excessive amount of time if they even compile at all. I love this app and hope to use it to its post extent again
I take all the pictures, go to the next step, put in my Autodesk account info, check off everything, and then I hit continue and nothing happens.
This version was a first time download for me, but I could never get it to go past finalizing. Except to "think some more", and then get stuck again finalizing. Bummer I was really excited to get to use this.
Doesn't catch my model. Just horrible
Stuck at 'finalizing' for 3 days now.
Colapsa la aplicación, pido por favor si hay algún modo de solucionarlo porque apenas quiero ingresar a mi cuenta la app colapsa
Was looking forward to using this app. Took pictures of an item and even with fast Internet it was taking forever to upload. After over an hour of waiting, I stopped the upload and deleted the app. Don't like the whole cloud based concept. This needs work before I'd use it again.
I wish I could rate the performance of the app, but it crashes when I begin to take pictures.
Wow...these screenshots show a great app. Too bad the app itself crashes every time you log in. So basically you cannot use the app. Too bad Autodesk!
Calculations are not done on phone itself to keep technology secret while requiring sharing my pictures with cloud. App uninstalled.
I honestly can't take your company seriously if you can't manage to update the app to work on iOS 7 after this long.
Just cant log into my account from the app there are other options to log in using Facebook Google+ ect.. but this is BOGUS, doing so can give personal info in those accounts to Autodesk Inc. , no way!
I was unable to use the app. The popup instructions prevented clicking on icons or filling in data. So I was unable to use the app.
The examples look cool, but unfortunately I can't create a capture. When I finish the instructions and tap Done, the app crashes. iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1. Looks like huge potential here. Hope there is an export to OBJ or ABC with texture map option, maybe on the website. WOULD LOVE A STAND-ALONE NON-CLOUD VERSION.
Great concept, bad application. Will not work. Junk
Has yet to deliver a single good 3D model of anything that stands up off the surface of a table. Worked well on a starfish lying flat. Everything else is a fail. Really, really needs to be able to handle non-flat things to be useful. Also, it appears to default to publicly upload files. Do NOT USE if you are trying to keep anything (like a new design) confidential. Do not discard your 3D scanners yet.
Create an account to use? No thanks. Cool idea, lame execution, mediocre results.
It used to work well but recently it wont connect to the 123D catch server - so the app is pretty much totally useless.
Read Autodesk did a marketing deal with a 3d printer company so I checked this out. After capturing 3 images the app crashed my iPhone so bad that I had to reboot it.
Please store the images locally or on dropbox or something! Allow users to import images from somewhere else as well. Also, allow full size previews of images during review so you can see if you need to retake.
Horrible, and it doesn't even work!
So at first the app performed its functions fine but later it would crash part way through the 3d rendering process. What is truly the worst is that i have photographed at least 30 objects but the program cannot even complete the fifth one. I just wish the product could have lived to the high quality standard established by other Autodesk products. I truly hope they fix it.
I need to sign-up for an account? Are you kidding me? Why didn't you tell me before I wasted my valuable time? Anyway, the final rendering is horrible. Thank you for wasting my time
It crashes everytime i try .i only get X on the icon .
After i see the ten tutorial photos and click done it crashes
All I get is an X icon over anything I try to upload. No documentation on how to fix this, or what exactly causes it. My guess is uploading problems, but we may never know.
This is a really cool idea, but the execution right now is pretty subpar. Even if you do get it to work, the final result will be... blah.
Seems like an Alpha version being pushed as finished. Impossible to get through 10 images without it crashing. After crashing makes you go through tutorial screens again. Frustrating. I really expect better quality control from Autodesk.
It Does not open anymore!! Crashes all time!
A friend sent me a model he made early today so I was excited to give it a try. After taking all the images needed I uploaded them and it took 15 minutes to process. Finally it showed a check mark over the thumbnail. I tapped on it and then it switched to an "X" over the thumbnail. I can't open it and there doesn't seem to be any way to resubmit all the images. Worst of all I can't seem to even delete the annoying thumbnail with the "X" on it. I guess it's just taking up space on my iPad. It's the probable with betas. Half of them work pretty well and the other half are bricks. I'd call this one a brick. Might as well wait for the final release since it's a lot of work shooting the reference just to half it lock up. Huge potential but it's a useless waste of iPad space as it is now. An update. I tried it again and it did the exact same thing. When I touch the finished model it switches to an "X" over the thumbnail and freezes. Can't open or delete it. Just wish you could give it zero stars. Don't even bother until there's a working release. The interface is mostly finished or I'd call it an Alpha release instead of a beta. Too buggy for a beta! FYI the cloud service is also a joke. It lost every model I submitted. I left the earlier comments to show what I went through. Turns out it's standard beta BS. First off the delete issue is they haven't added a select to the code. You have to hit delete first, then tap what you want to delete then hit delete again then say yes I want to delete when the window comes up. Lot's of steps just because there's no selection in the code. Second the freezing issue appears to be a buffer bug. I had a sneaking suspicion that's what it was. After several failed tests I decide to try to see if it could be tricked into completing the load model. When it showed the check mark I resisted the urge to tap it and switched the window to "examples" without touching the thumbnail. I then switched back and tapped the thumbnail for the model. Then it loaded. What's going on is it's stalling at something like 99.99% loaded inspite of it claiming it's finished. Some bright individual on the programming team wrote in code to complete and store the load before switching windows. It forced it to store the render. Then when you reopen it the file is there completed. Give that guy or gal a raise and spank the one that programmed the buffer error! Okay it works you just have to jump through some beta hoops. I wish companies would publish workarounds for beta bugs but it always seems like they don't want to admit the beta has any bugs. It's a beta, bugs come with the territory. Unfortunately without knowing workarounds the software is a brick. Fix the bigs and I'll give it five stars. Oh, one more thing, can you please save the photos somewhere!!!! It's too much working shooting the reference shots and when it locks up or crashes without finishing the render you're back to square one! Yet another update. I knocked it back down to 2 stars for good reasons. One it's still really unstable. When you start it processing gently set down your iPad and back away with looking at it until it's done then exit the window before loading. Anything you do by accident will kill the render. It'll finish rendering then lock up the model when you try to load it killing the model. Once again SAVE THE IMAGES!!!!!! I'm getting sick to death of having to reshoot the model every time it freezes after a render. Second and the real reason I knocked it back I can accept those issues to it being a beta but the end result you get is far more like an alpha or worse. I've tried everything and the best results are extremely crude. No matter what you get holes even if you shoot images square onto an area. Also you always get unexplainable rough spots, even the guy with the trunk model demo got those. He also got a lumpy surface which also seems unavoidable. I'm not expecting extreme detail but even smooth surfaces come through wavy and lumpy. Heads look like the elephant man because of all the distortion. You usually get one area of the model that looks sweet showing the potential but the rest of it is a mess. I don't expect any of this to be resolved by the time it leaves beta. Some of it may be because they don't want to waste processing power on a free software, can we render ourselves please???? Most of it is due to the poor accuracy of the software. I've seen beautiful results with the technology so I'm guessing it's been dumbed down. Unfortunately it resulted in a crude toy instead of useful software. I want to be able to give it 5 but I think given all the problems and the fact most are unlikely to be resolved a 2 is being generous.
