Great app. Especially when offline and no wifi. Enables you to read many mags and articles you select The app tends to crash frequently when updating and sometimes while reading.
Slow to use and sync. For some reason can share articles as messages?
But I wish currents was more current.
With the potential that google has, this app can be the best news app ever. They just gotta put some effort and redesign it!
Been using Zite for my news junkie fixes but then happened upon this little beauty. So far it's good but I can see some things that'll get on my nerves soon enough: 1. Gmail integration - come on, Google. This is a no brainer - email sharing should have Gmail app integration 2. Copy article URL - not sure if this is possible with how the content is delivered, but Zite can do it 3. iOS 7 update - I need my smooth scrolling and horizontal transitions. Enough of this binary swiping ;-) Other than that, loving it!
Best fast access to news app available.
Great job! Needs to have a notification functionality.. cant miss breaking news!! Expanded descriptions for all subscriptions, just like apps in app store Other than that its what I've been looking for, one central place to know everything!
I love this app almost more than flipboard, however it has been crashing frequently on iPad 4 running iOS 7, and on my galaxy note 8.0. Please fix so I can give it 5 stars!
The design of this app is awesome!
Default font size it's too small, font size adjustment required, crashes very often, but content is good.
The navigation makes sense if you are the type to swipe through each article as if reading a magazine. I'm actually someone who picks and choose articles to read so I prefer if swiping back took me back to the main list. A "page flip" gesture to go through articles, while preserving the OS drag from the left to go back is more appropriate to me. I prefer this app for layout but flip board navigation works better for me. I find myself constantly trying to swipe back to the mail list and this doesn't work that way.
Good app, but it lacks a more refined iOS 7 look. Please update...
I appreciate the content. I love the Huffington Post, but have noticed that when it says "photos included" in an article, there are none. Another instance I experienced, was with a statement that said "click the link below" and there was no link. I'm a fan of google but at this point, I'm preferring yahoo news, with the exception of Huffington post.
The ease and immediacy of bring able to browse a collection of media is great, but glaring errors like "if your iPhone switches from portrait to landscape whole reading a multi-page article, you go back to the top" makes me wonder if the people making the app actually use it.
Found all my favorite sources! The newest update made lots of improvements.
I have problems refreshing pages and adding certain subscriptions.
I love this app after the recent updates. I rate the multiple navigation options and the ongoing addition of content providers as 5 stars. When I am in a hurry, the Breaking News feature is awesome! Give it try!
I like this app but 1 thing I don't is after you click on an article it disappears... Can't you just gray them out...
Everything is good except the lack of clear cache function.
All good products get a one star rating until google gets rid of google+
Repeated crashes get really old, fix please.
Outdated look. Yikes.
I really like this app better than pulse but it keeps crashing on my iPad. It just crashed twice within 30 seconds. I've been eagerly awaiting an update for a couple months now that hasn't arrived. Come on google. Get hot! UPDATE. I'm tired of waiting. Uninstalling
Can't scroll down. Must be missing something. Used to love this app.
This app has awesome potential, but it lives up to none of it. Pics don't load. The UI is utter chaos. If google spent 10 minutes on this, it'd be amazing.
Fix this pile of steaming CR4P! While browsing or reading, it shuts down after a couple minutes! Random crashing also... Please fix this app.
Plus it's just messy.
Why a 17 plus warning i don't get it
I love Google, although this app is subpar. SNews for Google News is faster and simpler to use.
What a shame! Could be great but just does not work. Cannot scroll down or open news stories - deleted it after 5 minutes of trying - zero quality control or interest in fixing this it seems as these issues are not new. Come on google!
The app keeps crashing after a couple minutes of use on an iPad 2 with iOS 7.0.2.
Its been several months since i used this app and i stopped using it because it wouldn't work. I just checked it again today after MONTHS and its still not working. Are you guys even trying to fix this?
Now scrolling goes from page to page and it is much more difficult to read articles. Please change it back to smooth continuous scrolling within articles!
no update, hard to navigate, who cares about breaking news...
I love this app for it's many articles. However, now it crashes every time when synching all contents. Crashes when reading. This is after OS 7 upgrade. Please fix asap.
Major issues. Repeated crashing. Cannot use anymore. Feedly and Zite are more stable.
I remember when I used the very first version of google currents. I had to borrow my friends iphone to test it out. It was pure magic. At the time I used feedly on my laptop a lot so I was accustomed to RSS feeds. I knew that Google was on to something to replace google reader. But this latest update is a terrible representation of the app's true potential. It takes forever to load, it won't play videos, and it crashes constantly.
You guys got only G+ for iPhone 5. No struggle for other apps.
This app is garbage. Doesn't update half if my feeds even when I force the updates. Good job on the trash google. Deleted iPad and iphone
Repeatedly crashing (sep27) and slow to load. Waste of time. Developers are not fixing it. Sent multiple crash reports
It is a really useless app. The app keeps crashing every 2 mins. Content loads very slowly. All other news aggregator apps I use work well. Currents has very good content sources but it useless if the app keeps crashing and if the app has to be restarted every 2 mins.
App constantly crashes. Removing and reinstalling does not help as per standard third party app trouble shooting. Please fix.
I used to love this app but I don't know what happened. Every time I'm reading an article it crashes multiple times. I once counted and it crashed 9 times while I was reading 1 article. I sent feedback to them and while typing, it crashed 3 more times. Fix this problem! I generally like the app. but with all of this crashing, I can't even functionally use it. I'm now searching for a replacement news app. :/
Slow to load sections and articles, and rare to be able to scroll through a section without it NOT crashing to home screen. no apps in background, reloaded iOS, nothing done will stop the crashing at least once every 5 minutes. want to read an article, nope, reopen app, find again try second time.
I used to really enjoy this app, but it's giving me fits at this point. The app constantly shuts down whilst I'm in the middle of reading. Super lame!
Refresh doesn't work... I have to close the app and reopen it to get the new content!!
Constantly crashes after minimal use
I have to swipe my finger over like half the screen to exit a story, this is silly, it should be more like one inch. But the biggest problem? ALL My feeds quit updating. This makes the app pretty useless. I'm accustomed to google apps being good.
Using this a replacement for iGoogle. Generally I like it but often feeds arbitrarily refuse to update, sometimes for days on end. It is extremely frustrating to come to rely on an app and then just not have it work.
with the last update Currents took a sharp downturn in creating a nice user experience. The switch from horizontal nav is annoying but something I suppose I'll get over...where it lost me is the auto-hide menu gizmo. If you want to go back to the main menu you need to tap somewhere...this usually ends up opening an article you didn't want to read, but at least the nav button is there! You then need to double tap to get where you intended. Three actions to accomplish what was once done in one. I also seem to notice greater lag time...but this could just be because I am already annoyed at the whole app. Hopefully the next update will bring a fix
