BATTERY FRIENDLY - RECORD YOUR WHOLE DAY
Unlike many other tracking applications Ski Tracks is designed to use less power and will last all day (1). Ski Tracks also includes a battery monitor - stopping tracking and audio if your battery level gets too low - this reduces the possibility of that end of day dead phone.
NO DATA OR PHONE SIGNAL REQUIRED FOR TRACKING
Unlike many other ski applications Ski Tracks does not require any data or phone signal for Tracking. So enjoy your skiing or riding without worrying about data costs. (See Note 2)
iOS BACKGROUND COMPLIANT APPLICATION
iPhone users can run Ski Tracks in background and while phone is locked. Continue to take and receive calls/text or run other applications while tracking.
ACCURATE SKI/SNOWBOARD STATS
Ski Tracks uses special algorithms designed for mountain users to accurately calculate your speed, slope angle and ski vertical.
Want to check your last run maximum speed or duration or even your last ascent then use the Run-by-Run analysis tool and Ski Tracks will break up your day into runs and lifts.
Why not share your Ski day in Facebook or how about emailing a file that will preview your entire day in 3D on Google Earth™.
Standard and Satellite maps are available for displaying your track, track runs, start, finish and photographs. Use the preview mode to playback your entire day.
Take photographs and they are automatically geo-tagged to your Track.
Note 1. iPhone 4 (12 hours). iPhone 4s/5/5c/5s (14 hours) - actual recording length dependant on battery condition, temperature, other background applications and phone usage.
Note 2. Ski Tracks does not need data or a phone signal to record your day, the location system on the iPhone may from time to time use data for location fixes, we have no control over this. THEREFORE WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND SETTING DATA ROAMING OFF IF YOU ARE USING YOUR PHONE ABROAD AND TURN OFF CELLULAR DATA IF YOU ARE ON A FIXED DATA PLAN.
As with all GPS receivers the quality of GPS signal can vary depending on the amount of visible sky, satellite positions, foliage, weather conditions etc. GPS will not reliably work indoors. For more information please checkout and download the User Guide from our web site.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

But this app if you like tracking your ski day. Very much worth the money. Love being able to look back over the day and see photos Nd where they were actually taken.
Hey guys, I just love this app. It gives detailed data on all of my skiing metrics. However, even though I make sure to always fully charge my battery all the way up until I get to the base of the mountain and close all of my other apps while skiing, this app always seems to drain my entire phone battery when skiing a full day. Hopefully you guys can figure out a way to conserve battery life while running this app.
The max speed tracking seems to be off. I had a recent day that said I went 70mph but in each individual track the highest speed I could find was mid 40s. I know I'm not going 70...
When will ski tracks add pebble support?
I cannot believe how many features are packed into this app, especially for only $1. The interface is simple and easy to briefly check after each run, but there is so much more detail to explore after the day is over. I love how it recognizes each run, and can display average and maximum speed, vertical displacement, and more. The ability to replay your entire day is amazing, and is good for reminiscing and remembering with buddies. The drain on the battery is acceptable: I lasted a whole day today from 10-4:30 minus a break for lunch with 30% remaining. I had to have cellular data on however, which may have drained my battery more. This is different from what other reviewers said. Other than this small issue, I am completely satisfied and will be using this app on all of my future ski trips.
I've been using this app for 3+ years now and it has been a great addition to each boarding trip. It's a great way to track all sorts of critical metrics and try to top them the next time out. In addition their customer support has been awesome when resolving any concerns!!!
Worth every cent, making ski trips even more exciting!
One of the most useful apps I have ever used. Just returned from Killington and I still love replaying my runs and analyzing my stats. Can't wait for my next ski trip to see if I can go even faster!
Amazing app that is well worth it for any skier. Incredibly accurate and informative. Absolutely loving it.
This app is great with a few quirks. I use this app this weekend while skiing at Killington resort. One quark I noticed was that the max velocity on my homepage did not match the max velocity on the run tab, and it was more than just rounding error. Another interesting thing I noticed was the graph showing the velocity of the entire day only showed one data point per run which at first I thought was the max velocity for run but it did not match. Another kind of annoying quark was that some runs showed long flat lines at the end of their velocity graphs because I was waiting in line. The app should know the run was over. Some things I would like to see added in the future our names of trails and skilifts as well as hang time data. Other than those suggestions this app was fantastic and displayed some very cool data at the end of the day.
I've found this app to be very accurate. I've never gotten a weird speed spike. The only down side I've seen was that it took a couple min to calibrate before speeds became accurate but that was a few updates ago. With this app and music playing my battery drops less than 20% by lunch. I use it every time I go snowboarding.
Have you considered changing the color of the lines that show your track base on speed? It'd be cool to see where you were going fastest.
Completely worth the money. Never have I used an app so accurate and so analytic. Definitely recommend!
Stores a lot of data but lacks in analysis. Would like to have total downhill ski time - this could be done by summing up all the downhill time over a user-selected min speed. Could use the same logic to get an accurate per run average speed. I hope the developers do some more work on this app with a lot of potential but rather disappointing features with V1.3.2.
Love this app - makes skiing even more fun! I love that I can continually track the whole season.
Best app for tracking your mountain stats. Been using it for years. Totally worth $.99
Does everything that I want it to do. It works everytime I turn it on
I love love love this app I would just like to second the run reset counter bug pausing causes the run counter to reset and it's really annoying please fix this !
This app is amazing! I no longer need my $200 GPS! It tracks where you go within inches, it tells you your speeds accurately, as well as your altitude climbs and descents. I absolutely love that you don't need Internet, wifi or anything else but just a battery on your device to run the program and it doesn't eat up the battery you have. Best app I've purchased!!!
It says my max speed at Vail was 106.9 mph the other day. I don't think so. Makes me doubt the total vertical and distance. Please fix this.
It says my max speed at Vail was 106.9 mph today. I don't think so. Makes me doubt the total vertical and distance. Please fix this.
Never ever review anything but this app is great for an avid skier like myself. It even logs my runs in the areas that have no signal at all. Great overall product.
The best app for ski lovers
The app is nice and fairly easy to use but it doesn't always count my runs, which is the most important piece of information to me.
As one who commonly skis Beaver Creek which uses Epicmix, a service by Vail Resorts that scans you at every lift and calculates your vertical feet, I was looking to go a step beyond simply vertical feet and find many more statistics. This app did a perfect job doing that. Not only does this give me Vertical Feet, but I am many statistics such as Max and Average Speed, Distance skied, Max and Min altitudes, angles, number of runs, including a run by run analysis, and much more. Additionally the difference between the Ski Tracks Vertical Feet, and the Epic Mix vertical feet was 7 vertical feet FOR THE ENITRE DAY, which is pretty impressive considering I skied nearly 35,000 feet. This data is presented in a very clean and convent way that is easy to understand and view. I used this app from about 9am to 3:30pm with a 1 hour break where I paused the app for lunch and the battery drain was not significant, being about at 60% at 3:30pm. I would recommend this app to anyone who enjoys skiing and would like to get statistics about their skiing!
Until a week ago my friend showed me this app and I was able to see exactly how fast I go so I know what to achieve next time! Awesome app!
This app works well, does not drain the battery (if you turn off wifi, cell data, and Bluetooth ) and has a good display with good stats. The one thing it lacks is information about the resorts you are skiing at. So while it displays on a google satellite image your runs, it does not tell you the names of the runs or the lifts that you took. They should have the resort maps in the database so you can see your tracks superimposed on the ski resort map instead of a google satellite image.
So many great features, doesn't kill the battery, and tracks your runs in several very cool ways.
I have had this app for several seasons and have not had one issue. The battery drain is minimal and the tracking very accurate. I is a blast to review the data at the end of the day with friends and family. I always get excited at the beginning of ski season to review the past few years if runs to pump me up for the new ones. Highly recommend!!
This app is great. I've used it several times so far this season. (I downloaded it back in June). Everything I need is on this one app. Speed altitude location music etc... The slope doesn't work unless the phone is strait up and down so I just don't pay attention to that (and that is why I gave it a 4 stars instead of 5). My favorite part is that it tracks you location so you can see where you went on the mountain. And you can use this app for anything.
Does just what it says. One click start, one click to stop and it does the rest. Great App.
This app clocked me at 61mph down the ski hill. I tested its accuracy by having it clock my car while I was driving 55mph. It claimed I was driving 100mph. The speed clocking seems to be so inaccurate that it is basically meaningless.
It’s good except when you pause the app it resets the run counter to zero…fix this bug please. Today i had 10 runs…it showed 3 because we took a break after the 7th run. I would give it 4 stars but this blatant bug is pretty lame, it might be minor to the developer but it just makes me question the accuracy and precision of the app overall.
At first I was weary on how this app works. I still do not know specifically works, but I can tell you that it works wonders. It gives you a breakdown of each lift and gives you more than you can ask for. I have used this for a whole day of skiing with bad signal and it didn't even consume half my battery. Quite an amazing app.
I was pleasantly surprised by the functionality and accuracy of this application. What this app claims it does is absolutely true, and is certainly a fantastic buy. Lots of fun, very accurate, and battery efficient. Great job, developers. I will certainly buy your other apps if the need arises.
Very nice app, and thoughtfully built. I was worried having the GPS active would hammer the battery too hard, but it’s able to at least make it through a few hours of continuous use. You’ll probably want an external battery if you want to go all day long, but that’s not the app’s fault.
Really fun app if you have ever wondered how fast you really ski. A few enhancement suggestions for future versions: 1). Allow you to see the top speed of your most recent ski run. If you set a world speed record on your first run if the day, it's difficult to see your speed on subsequent ski runs. The graph has it, but it's hard to see the speed exactly. 2). Ability to delete runs for those of us who forget to stop the app before getting in the car and driving away. My current top speed is 83 mph. Well, not really. 3). Find a way to get rid of chair lift time in the calculations so that he distance calculated is 100 percent ski distance. Probably not as easy as it sounds given that some chair lifts are high speed lifts and come close to he speed of some slower skiers.
An essential app for skiers
I used it today and got 61.2 early on then got 66.6 then 70.8mph. The end of the day tried to save and it only saved the 61.2.
I tried using the Park City Mountain Resort app for tracking and my phone locked up. Then I tried Ski Tracks and it did a fantastic job. It preserved battery and gathered stats automatically in the background. Fantastic! Only feature I'd like added would be when you tap a run number on the map, it could highlight that run so you can remember which one it was (they begin to overlap quite a bit on the map). Great app!
Fantastic app, especially if you like competing against yourself. Way for than the Epic tracking. Although, I forgot to turn it off at the end of the day and got into my car and drove 50mi. Is there a way to delete just that decent? That way I could keep the rest of he track and not fudge up my season stats
Such a legit app- get it
This is a must have app
Bought it yesterday, used it today. Everything worked as per the description. I used it for about 3.5 hours and it used less than 20% of my iPhone 4S battery.
This is the third season I've used Ski Tracks and I really enjoy it. At the end of the day you can see how many runs, vertical feet, or miles you've skied - other stats too. As the season progresses you can see your running stats, as well as totals at the season's end. The developer is very responsive to issue and making the app more accurate. (and despite the review below the app has no problem with iOS 7)
Live this app. Has a really good GPS and good information. Not sure how accurate it is but it works pretty well. I really eats up the battery but that's not the apps fault but the GPS. Wish it better understood when you get on the lift like it stops tracking when you are below 5mph or something.
Crashes instantly upon opening on ios7. Do not buy!
Love watching my progress all day. Makes Skiing more fun. Great job!
I used this all last year and LOVED it. This app rocks! But I tried to use it opening weekend and the altitude and speed is broken on the latest IOS. Please update this.
This app worked great last year but this year it doesn't record at all on my 4S with iOS 7. Tried rebooting the phone and restarting the app to no avail. Reported problem, never heard back from the developers.
This app worked great last year on my iPhone 4S but since if got the 5s and upgraded to the most recent operating system it doesn't work. It doesn't track any speed or distance. All settings are correct and the problem reported with no response after 2 weeks - very disappointed!
Used it all last season (12-13) and just recorded the first day of 13-14. I enjoy all the different features of this app!
Nice app but am I the only one who is irritated that the designers used the word 'altitude' when they meant 'elevation?'
Ever since iOS 7 - can't ever open the app. Let's get it together ski tracks!
It's the best app out there by far for recording your skiing it's awesome
does go past 10 runs starts back over at 1 please fix!
Hands down the best ski tracking app. Best dollar you will ever spend.
Ski Tracks is a great way to see where you ski and how far and fast you go and to show your friends that you really did go that fast.
It still crashes for me on iOS 7.
Extremely satisfied. Had concerns about battery life on my 4s, but had no problems at all. Be sure to look at the included help for tips on optimizing battery life. I didn't use the pocket sleep feature btw. I feel like the authors are selling themselves short at $.99. This is easily worth $9.99. Still one of the best apps I've ever purchased!
Used this several days in the Midwest an at Winter Park CO. Nice app, easy to use and operate, easy on your battery! Fun to review your runs and stats at days end. Fantastic interface with Google to upload data and actually see your runs and analyze them! Looking forward to winter!!!
I use this app all my route mapping- skiing, biking, running, hiking- because the GPS works well, it doesn't eat my battery, and I like the play route, altitude, and speed features. One feature I'd like to see is one that shows how far I've gone at any time during the mapped route. Also, the altitude reading tends to wander (but I've read that that is a problem inherent to smartphone gps). Keep up the great work!
Really impressed with the amount of information this app gathers. Never expected graphs of altitude and speed over time. Magically breaks each run out to see by itself. I am very impressed.
I love this app and use it for skiing and cycling on road and trail. Please add a cycling option under Activities. Maybe someday specific code for cycling. Also, can you make it more accurate for car use? Thanks again!
Love everything about it except you cannot edit tracks. For instance today I forgot to turn it off when I was done and would love to delete the car drive homes data. If this feature can be made that'd be amazing.
Have had the app for 3 seasons. Prior versions seemed more accurate. Vertical is off by hundreds of feet each run. It would be great if app could use location to identify resort and lift and calibrate altitude better.
I don't think you should get this app if you are a speed junkie. My first goal was 70mph then 80 mph now it is 85 as I hit 82. Scary stuff.
I like this app a lot. Seems to be pretty accurate. I love tracking my day. So far hasn't drained my battery. Turn the brightness down on your phone and maybe turn on the 3G and you'll be fine. I wish these was a way to delete "mistake" runs. Like when I forget to shut it off in the car and end up with a couple runs at 75 MPH. It messes up the averages. Thanks.
Worked great. Hit over 70mph three runs and ten others in the high 60's. fun to see where your runs were and compare them as we'll.
Used for the last day of a 3 day Mammoth trip and it worked great. Have to say was very skeptical of the battery claims. Used maybe a little more battery than just running the 4s without the app. After using this app I am no longer going to bring my hand held GPS while skiing.
Intuitively review speed, vertical distance skied, elevation, and your number of runs. Cool to break down your runs to see which ones were high speed!!! Try to break 60mph!
