Description

Whether you are an experienced musician or don’t have a musical bone in your body, you can make great music on your iPhone

Aurora is our pattern based musical sequencing software. By simply choosing a musical scale every note you play is in perfect tune, leaving you to make your own great sounding music.

If you are a more accomplished musician you simply switch Aurora to advanced mode and you get full control over the built in instruments and effects, as well as many advanced modes such as the Atomizer and XY Mode which allows you to manipulate sound in real-time. You can create your own instrument from recordings made using the built in microphone. Just think, a full drum kit of you beatboxing into the microphone!

Aurora allows a mixture of pattern based recording and live performance. You can piece together complete compositions or simply improvise a performance. All of which can be captured to a file, for use as a ringtones, or to share with others.

An integrated mixer, combined with the ability to add audio effects and layer automation means that you achieve a sophisticated sound in a fun and user friendly way.

The online Aurora Song Library allows Aurora users to share their tracks with the rest of the Aurora Community. Browse the library to download the latest tracks, or search the library to see what your favorite Aurora Artist has published. The Aurora Song Library can be found at http://aurora.4pockets.com/

  • So much fun

    by webmn2k

And so much power. Runs perfectly on my 4S with iOS 6. Great built in samples and synths, with the ability to edit every piece of them, plus affects, essentially giving you limitless sounds. The song building is fun and intuitive, with lots of control. Can't recommend this enough to anyone who's interested in composing. It's not retina, but that takes nothing away from usability here. Would be nice to see an update to polish that piece up. Other than that, zero complaints.

  • Rockin it old school

Yeah it's cool and in almost what I would say it an almost classic format. The grid format used in aurora and TNRi along with dozens of lesser sequencers, feel very inspired by the monome project, only without midi. When you dig down deep enough you can make some really cool sounds by tweaking the lfo and effects. Feels like I've been waiting forever for midi to come to aurora and aurora HD though. My biggest wish for aurora would be user defined scales much like on the TNRi. Also the echo and stutter effects are limited to 1/8 notes. I would love to be able to use 1/32 notes for a more authentic machine-gun/granular/glitchy sound effect with machine-gun, stutter and echo effects. As time passes I do find more and more uses for aurora on both my iPhone and iPad. It's a great app that has weathered the test of time. Seems to be working well in iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 and 5.

  • You can get really cool sounds on this .

Not saving samples , THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED PRONTO ! if this problem was fixed id give it 4or 5 stars , because i really like the sounds i get on this a lot better than the tenori on app sounds which are lame compared to this one and you can make your own sounds with this one , theres a lot of fine tuning controls . But be warned i have a couple ios devices and this works best on 4.3.3 and higher anything lower like 4.1 ( ive never tried 4.2) is really glitchy and freezes a lot ! its do able on those devices but glitchy glitchy , I di really prefer the sounds on this one to tenori on though , this one has deeper and more intense sounds . Good day people keep on makin music , YEAH !!

  • Much better than I expected

    by 6v6

I was hesitant to buy this due to some of the reviews, but after only 15 minutes of playing with it I am very pleased. It is complex- but the layout is intuitive. For ten bucks you won't find anything better. The one thing that would make it better is a copy to other apps feature.

  • Excellent App! Lots of tweaking.

    by DJ_Simples

Quite simply one of the best music apps to date. Great fun but at the same time very deep. Built in help could be better, but overall a great purchase. Can't wait to try the iPad version!

  • Almost perfect

    by dyyrek

This could have been the best music app in the store if it wasn't for one fatal flaw. The gate is very difficult to manage and needs a lot of work. Also the steps are very small and hard to press with your fingers. Change these two and I would probably give it a 5.

  • Wait till it gets cheaper

    by Geo212

I'm pissed that i rushed into this purchase. This app is really deep with a lot of functions and parameters but it sounds too mechanic too 80's like. I wish there was a PDF manual that would say before the purchase that you cannot record various velocities. What do I do if I need accent hihat or snare within a pattern? Most of the apps in this class have at least some kind of a "swing or velocity" control. As the sunvox app this app's controls are optimized for other than iPhone multi-touch device. I smell a lot of "windows like / palm-like controls". They're not too user friendly and reminiscent of controls from 19 century. I installed it on iPad and still have a problem to properly control the tenori-on-like pad interface. (I believe that the demo videos for aurora are also done on iPad) Enough ranting.... The in-depth functions and flexibility makes this app top in it's class. Pros: - excellent transpose control so you can actually pattern-harmonize and create a song - flexible song creation possibilities - 3 effect busses whoa! Excellent !!! - very good automation - excellent xy real time modifiers Cons: - filters "vcf" are all messed up.. 30khz frequency on filters? - too many unnecessary OK or Select buttons - too many clicks to get to essential functions - developers, stop using stylus and start using fingers when testing and optimizing this app for workflow - I cannot emphasize this more. Get at least 4 levels of velocity buttons when in toggle record mode. You could flip the keyboard view on the bottom with four velocity selector buttons. If needed look at moxmatrix app, the interface is more efficient but tweaking is almost not existent there.

  • Good start

I would like to see more scales(hirajoshi,Arabian, more exotic scales) and way more instruments but overall it's pretty cool

  • July 2010 to August 2013

    by Appitap

When I saw there was an today, I got excited thinking I was going to be able to export my music to my computer or to other apps. That wasn't the case. Just another disappointment. I cannot believe the last update was July 2010 and now almost 3 years later you come out with simple fixes. ??? Wow! What a great way to make such a beautiful app go to waste. Although I don't use it, I am still going to let it sit on my phone in hopes that you come out with meaningful updates that we actually need. Best of luck.

  • I shoulda listened to the reviews

    by Dark NRG

What a $10 disaster! Well I like NanoStudio much better, this here app is to convoluted, here's a suggestion: give option to turn off the "echo visual", I cant see where I'm placing notes! And I don't want scales etc on the top menu, I want easy access to synth and tones and samples! Forget this.

  • Not Cool!

    by wizatunes

    >>Edit: Well they didn't make it universal. I can live with that but now it's Not compatible with iPad anymore. iOS4 Only!!! WEAK!!! I'm not interested in buying the $40 HD version. Don't buy if you're using an iPad or previous iPhone, iPod Touch iOS, and be sure to make a back up of the previous version if you want to keep using this on the iPad. This app is pretty deep. Seems like it has everything, Actually more than my little brain can handle for the moment. I'm going to spend the time and learn to work this one. Would love to be able to transfer sounds and samples with the iTunes file sharing system. I'm using this on the iPad and it looks pretty usable at 2X. Couldn't wait for the iPad version :) Maybe they will make it universal? Anyway, this has got to be one of the best music creation apps in app store.

  • Not quite

    by Fatboy2000

I feel like it's just too cluttered to be efficient. They should have at least provided a manual if they were going to make an app so complicated. One complaint is that you only get two octaves per register selected. That just doesn't make sense.
