This app is very useful and organized just like the book.

  • Very detailed

    complete and trusted information

  • Not happy it can only be used on one device.

    by Mah72356

I have an iPad mini and an iPhone. I am a RN and carry my iPhone with me around the units. The iPad doesn't fit in any of my pockets. I wanted to have this on both devices (as you can with other apps) but this app is only good on one device. I downloaded it on my iPad first so that's the device I will need to use. If I want it on my iPhone, I have to pay for another drug guide. I guess I should have just purchased the the hard copy of the book.

I've been using Davis Drug Guide, print and online for a year, and I've found them very helpful. New drugs like Gilenya show up quickly on the website, and it has pretty complete dosing info and warnings. What I didn't like was the speed; typing into the search bar didn't anticipate what you want like Epocrates does, and you have to wait for pages to load sometimes. So, when it came time to re-up, I gave this app a shot. The search function is exactly what I want, both on iPhone and iPad. There are two separate apps, but one subscription seems to work on both. Each use the strengths of the device they are made for, and are dead simple to use. You can quickly type "lisi" to get to lisinopril, then click an icon that gives you a pop-up that lets you instantly go to, say, dosage information. If this is a commonly encountered medication, you can favorite it to get even quicker access to it. I just got this app, and there are still things I am figuring out. One thing I hope they have considered is an Epocrates-style drug-interaction checker. But if you are a nurse, not a doctor, you need the speed and info this guide provides.

  • Excellent app

    by SSGMedic

Does require a yearly subscription but in my opinion it's well worth it!

    Awesome app for nursing students!!!!

  • Great app! Love it!

    by YoursTimesFour

So glad I got this instead of the book. Love having on my phone and computer, and its so much quicker to look up relevant info for classes!

  • Helpful App

    by SN CMS

This app is so great! Easy to use. you can look up drugs by generic or brand names unlike some other drug apps that require generic names. It tells me all I need to know as a nursing student in her first year of clinicals. I'm really happy that it has combination drugs too. It's great

    by 1501007015

Easy to use interface. Needs more pediatric doses.

  • Perfect for school so far

by Nursing student in Madison, WI

As a preparation for a rather fast paced clinical rotation, I've found this app very useful regarding information and organization of content. It's nice to be able to use the iPad app concurrently with my laptop, instead of opening a drug guide and propping it open every time I have a new drug to learn and flipping through hundreds of pages. I sometimes use this alongside my Taber's medical encyclopedia subscription to look up unfamiliar terms and they work perfectly. I 100% recommend this for students looking to become organized and feel confident with their material.

    Extremely helpful, easy to use

  • Extremely useful

    by Lidef

Spend the extra dollars for the full version. The app never crashes and loads fairly fast for quick answers. It is extremely easy to use and navigate through when looking for specific information.

  • Purchase the full version

by Princess of Most High God

Nursing students won't regret it! My clinical instructor loves that she can ask me about a drug that I haven't been told to prepare for, yet I can still give a correct answer!

  • Don't bother

    by Gama425

Downloaded, deleted and downloaded again. Was never able to open it. Would not let me sign in without a user name and password. Didn't recognize any if my info.

  • Worst app ever!

    by Rnstdnt14

Every time I open it it had to update but then it freezes, when you type in a drug it comes up but it won't let you press on it to give any information worst $50 I have spent! I would have rather spent money on a book that I have to carry around than this app, at least the book give me the information! So frustrating!

  • RN

    by Nurse lyndsay

Bought the full version. Love love love it. Couldn't survive at work without it. Everything I need to know about every drug in seconds. Many other sources (even the lexicomp at work) lack the info I am often looking for about how fast to push drugs for safety, etc. this app has it all. Just like the book. But lighter :)

  • Nursing Student

    by Meds Workbook

This app is awesome. I'm working on a medication work book for nursing school and this app makes it so much better and faster to copy and paste to Pages (word/excel). Plus I can use this app on my iPhone instead of carrying a big drug book around in clinical.

  • Teaser

    by Jeffry Anderson

Don't bother, this is just a teaser to get you to pay for the "full version."

Excellent tool for on the go Pharmacology

  • iPhone 4S on iOS 6.0.1

    by neosiri5

How about this: Full electronic (including mobile) access to the print material upon retail purchase? The idea being ease of use and convenience as opposed to unnecessary hassle and inconvenience. Why should anyone have to use a mobile browser instead of an application to access the drug guide? At present, the answer is that said consumer shouldn't because s/he has not paid enough (i.e., $30 in addition to the $46 paid for the physical copy). Unscrupulous to say the least.

  • Easy to use

    by veamcher

I have used Davis's Drug Guide since 2009 and absolutely love it. I have it on my iPhone and iPad; it's so easy to use. It's the only online drug book I've used, so I can't compare it to other programs, but I do love this one.

  • Great app

    by Cv clinician

Excellent app for all kinds of medical students and current medical staff. Space saver(better than luging the actual book), easy to use, and upgrades new meds frequently. A+ in my book!

  • Perfect App!!!!

    by Cmatson74

I LOVE IT!!!!! This app has saved me tons of time. It is extremely user friendly and every single medication I've tried to look up has been in there. If you have this app and you don't like it, it can only be because you are not using it correctly or because you are misspelling the drug name(s).

  • Unhappy

    by Iwannabanurse

I just signed in for the 1st time. It is not user friendly, and if I want an upgrade, after buying the already expensive book, it will cost $ 29.99. So far none of the drugs are on the lists I could find.

I love having everything I need to know about a drug at my fingertips. I use the app for assignments and during clinicals. I highly recommend.

  • Great app!!!

    Love it!!! Fast and accurate!!!

  • Worth every penny

    by Sam2210qq

I've never spent more than $1 on an app, but this one is totally worth the $50. As a nursing student, this is super helpful and better interface than the other free similar apps.

  • Great app

    by UW91

I am using this app for my work in nursing school. It is so very helpful. I have recommended it to my fellow nursing students and even family to help them understand their own medications.

  • Great for students :-)

    by Dawg Pound Bulldog

Use this all the time, handy for clinical. App is pricey but it has paid off :-)

  • Great App!

Very useful and practical for clinical application.

  • Worth it!!

    by Lyn93536

I love this app... But you have to be willing to pay some good money to get all the benefits.

  • NOT FREE

    by Amagnotti

This app is not free, they let you download it but if you want to use it you have to pay 40 dollars.

  • Great

    Great app

  • Super Lame

    by feistess

Unless you're willing to pony up for the big paid subscriptions, don't bother. I have a basic subscription that came with the purchase of my book, and I can log in. Now, I get to look at a page that says a) I have a basic subscription and b) I should buy MORE subscriptions.

  • I love it

    by Mitch The Hammer

    Get it!

  • Great resourse

    by GreenDuzzie

I love the app and I use it daily at work. Seems like every time I need to look something up it has me logged off, but any other time when I am looking something up for the hell of it I am already logged in. That is my only issue with it. Wish it would just keep me logged in or remember my user ID and password for quick log in.

  • Not free

    by Lola's ipod

Downloading the app is free. Using the app cost $49.99.
