The updating software window comes up every single time I open the app. Even though it says it is only a one time occurrence. Please fix.
Every time I open the app it tells me to please wait while it updates my software. . . A one-time occurrence. So if I try to read an issue I have downloaded and I'm not attached to wifi I can't read it because it can't update the app. I've reinstalled several times to no avail. People please fix the bugs in the app!!

I was having the same issue as everyone else with being asked to pay for issues even though I was signed in as a print subscriber. I contacted customer service and they had sent me a list of trouble shoots that I had already done. I was so fed up I deleted the app. What I didn't know was they were working on the prob for me. Out of the blue a week later they sent me an email saying my account was restored. I downloaded the app again, signed in, and everything worked as it should. I'm totally impressed!
I am pleased to say the newest fix (November 8) finally started working and I have been able to re-download my purchased issues.
I am addicted to this magazine. I love the writers and articles, so I continue to download the magazine weekly. But I have got to tell you, it is the worst, most unreliable app on my device! So frustrating!! Frankly, I think they should hire a new development team, trash the old code and start from scratch!
I am having problems with the download and reading of the magazine's "raised by killers" cover story. I had not downloaded the current edition on Christie Brinkley's reaching 60 y.o.a. And I cannot open the magazine to get into what was already downloaded into my iPad. I need help in clearing the frozen screen.
I paid a lot of money for this subscription! I can't open it! Really. Such an important magazine can't get this right!
Same frustrating issue as other reviewers! A constant loop and push to pay for issues after being confirmed for both print and digital subscriptions. Stick to print and get rid of the app or you'll continue to tick-off subscribers who won't purchase your publication at all!
I've tried several times to download the issues. I'm a print subscriber and have entered my info multiple times. I'm still asked to pay for each issue. I've noticed that many others are now having this problem. I'm going to call the number given. I'm very frustrated at this point!
This is my second try for this app. I thought it would be great for travel or waiting rooms. This has been the most frustrating experience in all my years as an iPad user. If you must read this magazine, buy the actual magazine. I have changed passwords, installed, and deleted this app too many times to even consider using it again. When it did work, it took too much time to upload with a fast wi-fi. I have since used other apps that give me the popular news stories and photos. Search the app store them. Enough said...happy hunting.

I just updated the app on my old iPad and my new iPad Air. It shows all my magazines on my old iPad but wants me to BUY the new mags I haven't downloaded yet and it wants me to BUY all of the magazines on my new iPad Air. I've gone to troubleshooting and done what it said: close out, double click...signed in thru library...etc. but it's still not working. I've spent way too much time having to jack with this! It all worked just fine before the last app update! Guess I'll go back to my regular old magazine subscription.
I had the same issues as others on the reviews. After getting no response from my emails through the People website, I finally called the customer service number. It took about 2 minutes for the customer service rep to re-activate my account for digital access. It is ridiculous that I even had to take this step, but it did immediately resolve the problem. People needs to figure out how to get this solved without necessitating a call to customer service.
As a print subscriber, I used to love the digital version. Until about 6 weeks ago...now if I want access to digital issues, it makes me pay for each one. Says that I am an active subscriber and have tried everything I can think of with no success. Emailed People customer service last week and have only received an automated reply saying it was received. This needs to be fixed before I can give it more stars.
You'd think if you are paying for a print subscription you'd be able to read in the app, but that's no longer the case since the app was redone. Also buggy, it keeps making you log in and activate your account. Terrible!
For the second time in a month, I can't get the newest issue because it wants me to pay for it. I've been reading People on this iPad for over a year, and suddenly I should pay? Really irritating.

Says doing one-time update. Been saying this for over a month, every time I open it. Now sits there, then reverts back to main library with all my magazines. Just bought the January issue and can't get my People library up at all.
I didn't even buy any issues and I can't get it off my screen!
Ever since the latest update, EVERY time I open the app, I get the blue screen telling me it's updating my app "and good news, it's just this one time". Ha. Please fix this as it's incredibly annoying. Otherwise, pretty happy with the app ore than slow downloads that seem to pause inexplicably.
I've had People magazine on my iPad for years and never had a problem until this latest update. All the things that others are reporting are true. Slow to download, jerky, doesn't turn back pages, one time update page shows every time. Took what was an enjoyable pastime and turned it into a nightmare! Horrible upgrade! Hope you fix it soon!

I cannot see my previous issues because it wants me to pay for it. I have already paid for all the issues this year. Now people wants me to renew!! Please fix the bugs in the app!!
I'm having the same problems as others. It says my subscription is active but it says I have to purchase each issue. It's been this way for weeks. I thought it was because I had the original iPad but I got the air for Christmas and the problem is still there. So ridiculous!
Can't get through a single magazine without multiple crashes. I've had to delete and reinstall the app several times just to be able to read one issue. Now I can't even download another issue. Why do I have a subscription again?
I wish I could give it 0 stars....keeps telling me that I don't have an active account. Contacted customer service & they are worthless!
The only way to get digital access, even though I already have a subscription, is to sign up with my credit card for automatic renewal. Screw that.
I don't want to see all the issues I didn't purchase, nor do I like the fact that everything I had now has to download again. Whoever came up with this bright idea should be fired. This was never a good app to begin with and now it's simply awful. Updates should improve an app, not downgrade it. Get some new techies People.

I see I am not alone in having trouble since the update! Tells me my account is active but still wants to charge. Previous downloads...gone! It was great before. I miss it! If it can't be fixed let us restore to the old one that did work!

Not happy I'm a paid subscriber and it won't finish downloading the newest issue for this week. Plus it keeps saying when I open the app that it is upgrading. Has it really been upgrading for a month and a half? Please fix. I was close to not renewing and this may seal the deal!

Ever since improving it, all I see every time I open my People, "only time it will update". I love People magazine, but this app, is crap!
It won't let me download previous issues without paying for them, even though I have an active subscription. Emailed customer service days ago and still haven't received a response. Don't waste your time with this app, or your money on a digital subscription.

I’m a paying subscriber yet the app tells me I have to purchase magazines. When I try to activate the subscription I already have, it tells me that I do in fact already have a subscription. When I try to restore purchases I already own, it tells me I am not a subscriber.
Once enter this site, I can't move out of it. Just lock up my Apple store on this site. Nothing works! Worst site I ever experienced!
This app does nothing but crash, no matter how many times I delete it and reinstall. Don't waste your time, because it's nothing but frustrating. Oh - if you get the blue screen that tells you it's updating and only a "one-time thing," don't believe it. Pour yourself a drink instead because you'll need it!
One would imagine that magazines on a tablet would be a killer app but it's just too darn hard to flip pages. And how does one remove old magazines or issues. My ipad is getting full and I need to get rid of old magazines that I already read.
Nothing but problems since the latest app update. Am unable to open any extra pictures or video clips.

I love my people magazine but the size of the issues are enormous. I went to download the latest issue and couldn't due to space. I have a bunch if previous issues downloaded but when I touch the gear button to remove old issues nothing happens. So annoying that I can't remove any issues unless I delete the entire people app!
What's with the "one-time screen" that says it will take a few seconds to get all of your issues (or something like that), but good news, it's a one-time thing.... yeah right! It comes up every time!! I hate the new bookmarks too. You can't delete them!
Swiping pages used to be smooth and natural, now it's a jerky and unpredictable process. Some swipes do nothing, some move to no mans land between two pages....some swipes slowly bring you to next page, some swipes crash the app altogether.... Turning pages smoothly seems a small thing to expect from a magazine app. Unfortunately, People must be devoting resources elsewhere.
With every tweak the app gets more boggy, more slow, more crashy and harder to work with. The 'this is one time update' happens every time I open the app. You took what was an easy to manage library and made it very difficult to remove old issues. Your 'prettier photos' are worthless when I have to wait for them to render. I try to go to the next page and I often end up in the middle of the magazine because it can't tell the difference between a 'go there' tap and a 'next page' tap. If you devoted half the attention you give to promoting the app to making it work, maybe it'd function.
This needs to be fixed ASAP!! Updates ruined it.
Well, whatever happened with this newest update ruined it, I am very sad...I miss my iPad edition people magazine
I don't know what you did with the last upgrade but it now takes forever to download People. New issues used to download in around 5 min or less. Now it takes as much a s 15 min and and ties up my iPad. I can't do anything else or it stops downloading. It's terrible!!
This updated app is useless.I have tried to login for almost an hour and still no magazine. The app just keeps sending you in circles. Shame on the magazine's IT engineers.

I have been unable to get my digital version of People sine the upgrade. I have contacted customer service twice with a canned email reply. I would advise not subscribing to People until this is resolved. This APP has become the healthcare.gov version for People
I just downloaded the current issue, which shows Jackie's Private Agony on the cover. However, when I try to open it, it is actually last week' sedition, with Kerry Washington. HELP!!
Honestly, the most frustratingly worse app on my device. Fire your developers.
I have many magazine apps for magazines that I subscribe to and all of them work great....except for People. Although I have a paid subscription to the magazine I cannot access my issues through the digital app. It worked fine until the upgrade but now will not work at all. And yet, People is trying to convince me to renew by telling me how wonderful their app is and how easy to access their digital content. Fix it iTunes and People or I will not be renewing.
Still cannot log in since the upgrade! Not sure what you fixed but it is not working. Doesn't recognize my email as an active user, even though you sent me a reminder of my automatic subscription just last week (to the same email!)
