FINAL FANTASY VI for the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad is here!
FINAL FANTASY VI first debuted in 1994 as the sixth installment in the iconic FINAL FANTASY series. Innovations included the ability to play all the main characters as the game's protagonist, and to this day, its epic story intertwining each of their fates is still highly rated and wildly popular. The characters' dramatic performances are also highly rated, including the catastrophe occurring midway through, which delivers a particular emotional jolt to players.
With plenty of abilities available and the magicite system for controlling spells/summoning, players can develop their characters any way they want. This was also the first FINAL FANTASY game to include the Ultima Weapon, the most powerful sword of all and a recurring item in subsequent titles within the series.

The War of Magi left little but ashes and misery in its wake. Even magic itself had vanished from the world. Now, a thousand years later, humankind has remade the world through the power of iron, gunpowder, steam engines, and other machines and technologies.
But there is one who possesses the lost power of magic--a young girl name Terra whom the evil Empire has kept enslaved in an effort to harness her power as weapon. This leads to a fateful meeting between Terra and a young man named Locke. Their harrowing escape from the Empire's clutches sets in motion a series of events that touches countless lives and leads to one inevitable conclusion.

I wanted this game for mobile ever since they put the original Final Fantasy on the App Store. With a new coat of paint and touch support, this is the definitive version to get!
I love the graphical changes made for this version. If I want to play it the old way I would break out my SNES. Controls still feel weird without actual buttons but overall I couldn't have asked for a better port
Hands down Final Fantasy VI is the best RPG of all time. Having this game accessible on your phone is definitely an added plus.
Best Final Fantasy game on the App Store!
By far the best Final Fantasy remake to date! Square Enix has outdone themselves with making this game look crisp and run smooth. Excellent sound and good controls. Thank you for finally adding iCloud saves! Buy this game, cause you will not be disappointed :)
Brilliantly done and worth every penny. The iCloud feature is a welcome addition for those of us with iPad and iPhones. Also very much enjoying the auto battle and blitzes.
Probably IMO the best ff game made . U guys should've started with the remakes with this one ! Oh well better late then never I suppose right ?
thanks for not going with the unscrupulous in-app purchase business model. you are treating a timeless classic with the respect and dignity it deserves and we love you for it. on an unrelated note, please bring back more classic square games, I've been chomping at the bit for a secret of evermore remake for the ipad and would gladly pay whatever you charge for it.
After all these years this is still one of the best JRPG's of all time.
Classic SNES game - proud of Square for bringing it back. This download made my day!
I bought this game just so this broke company can finally release Final Fantasy VII (FF7). I know my expensive and every kids $17 purchase will get you guys funded. I'm a college kid and I won't be able to eat for two weeks. Good job square enix for charging so much to us college kids. I miss square soft. Release FF7 ASAP
Amazing game that holds up despite its age. The new graphics grew on me very quickly. Looking forward to beating this game again!
From the first time I rented FF III on the Super Nintendo, I have loved every facet of it's storyline and gameplay. All those before it pale in comparison, and all those afterwards lack the complex interactions between their casts that make this game so special to me. I own the original cartridge, the PS1, PS3, and Advance versions in addition to this one and I will buy it again and again to enjoy as new platforms permit. The graphics update is welcome, the control take a while to get used to, but I am about a third of the way through and loving it all over again. Worth every dollar.
Final Fantasy VI (original in the US labeled as III) is the greatest RPG of its generation (Super Nintendo). It packs one of the most memorable cast of characters, soundtrack, story and art direction of any game to this day. This is a must have game.
This updated version is fantastic. By far the best Square Enix mobile game (plus no microtransactions!!). Everything is great. So glad this game is finally in my pocket!
Best IOS buy, out of final fantasy series .
Great game. Brings back lot of memories playing this game as a kid. Please fix the controls. Walking is absurd!! 5 stars if the controls are tweaked.
Even with difficult movement controls, little can keep amazing JRPG down. It transcends all video game generations and its story is one of the most immersive and entertaining... And don't even get me started on the bad guy... Move over Sephiroth! Kefka's a god... Literally.
Playing on an Air, and still very early on, so I may come back and change my opinion. That said, the only real issue I have is to warn against using the Auto Battle. If you only have Terra in the party early on, it will just sit there and waste MP on repeat heals.
The game is amazing visuals and controls are on point. I can honestly say this is the best FF port that I have played. Iphone 5 full screen support, iCloud save capabilities and the fact that is a universal app is a nice bonus. Must have for FF fans and ppl getting into FF.
This is not a review of the game. Anyone who'd buy Final Fantasy VI already knows what it is. This is a warning. Previous Final Fantasy ports on iOS handled saved games extremely gracefully. In addition to the "manually save games at save points or on the world map" feature, there was a QuickSave, which would immediately exit your game after you did it, and which could be done anywhere. This allowed you to stop playing the game whenever you want without losing progress, a mandatory feature on a mobile RPG. However, those previous games had one other vital feature: Every time you fought a battle, or walked into a town/building, the game would automatically save your progress. This ensured that even if you forgot to QuickSave, or even if your game crashed, you could never lose more than a minute or two of progress. However, for some unfathomable reason, SquareEnix decided to remove that feature. You must manually save your game every time you want to exit it. If you don't remember to, then you WILL lose an extreme amount of progress, on the order of 10 minutes up to several hours, depending on how long you've played. There is absolutely zero justification for such a terrible design flaw. Forcing the player to micromanage their saves just to avoid losing data is an anachronism from the 90s, it has no place in a modern game and is completely unacceptable. If I had known how completely broken this game's save system was, I would never have bought it. If there was a refund, I would have taken it immediately and never looked back. If you are used to the save system of the other Final Fantasy ports and don't want to deal with this extreme flaw, by all means skip it.
The app doesn't even start. It crashes as soon as you try to open.
Next up, Final Fantasy VII IOS?!?!
After downloading the game, their is no sound at all to be had.
Love this game! Probably my favorite game of all time. The only thing missing is MFI controller support. They updated FF3 with controlled support so please update this one too!
The last true FINAL FANTASY was FFIX, but FFVI is on iOS, and it was the best the series ever had to offer. A must-buy.
Without a doubt my favorite game of all time.
I really enjoy this game as it is one of my favorite games from my youth. Also the extra parts of the game add to it so you feel like its new. However, why couldn't you guys give support for the iPod touch 4th gen? It's not like the graphics are too advanced that it can only work on iOS 7. Not only that, but this ruins Square Enix's rep of being money hungry since we're paying 16 bucks for a 20 year old game. The least you guys could do is support the iPod 4th gen, especially since you could milk a few more dollars out of us gamers.
If you don't already know how perfect FFVI is, something is seriously wrong with you. The end.
What can I say that has not already been said about this game? This is an exceedingly well done revival of what I always believed to be the best RPG ever made. I logged in well over 100 on this game (Final Fantsy III in the United States originally) on my Super Nintendo. It’s simply brilliant and engrossing. This game only has competition from a game called “Panzer Dragoon Saga”…which nobody got to play because it was on the Sega Saturn and released at the end of the systems short life.
Perfect. You don't like it? Go back to your pathetic FF haters forum and talk crap with people like you who have no taste and never were true fans in the first place. (Wahhh ugly sprites) lies, it looks freaking amazing. And yes I loved the old sprites too but these are a great change. Now we have two great artist's visions. K thx, gg.
Even though I have a problem with the controls on my ipad, I won't lower the score because of it. This game was the very first Final Fantasy game I've played when it first came out of the SNES. A friend of mine introduced me to it and ever since that time I've played almost all the RPG games I could find. Truly an amazing game!
For those dreading the delay from the GBA port remaining, sorry to disappoint. As an example, during the short opening cinematic of the troops marching to Narshe, the music ends well before the animation. When you consider that the ending cinematic is about thirty minutes, that delay becomes incredibly significant. This breaks my heart because the game itself is so good and deserves better.
It's an excellent port and well worth every penny. Plus they included manual cloud saves. Must have for RPG fans. (iPhone 5s iOS 7.0.3)
Final Fantasy III/VI is by far the best that exists in the series. I have been a huge fan and played every single game out there. Nothing speaks out like the storyline, characters, battle system, and overall dynamics of the game. If you don't find RPG's to complicated, I think you will enjoy this game over anything out there. The graphics did take away the "gloomy" feel of the game that used to make you really feel for the characters and story, but it's still just as great. Lastly, the price of the game is worth it. A game of this caliber you cannot complain. If you can't afford wait till it goes on sale. But if you just want a reason to give it a bad rating then don't bother, get a job or write a review when you are not a poor high school/college kid. If you are hesitant, please give the game a try. You won't be disappointed!
Times have changed since I first spent hours in my room on my gameboy advance, playing by the bed light to fight that bonus boss and digging through guides to find the special character. Now games often have flashily animated combat, interactive dialogue, and fancy barter systems. But if there is one game, one in the history of all games, that withstood the test of time it is this one. This game is still hailed as one of if not the best RPG games of all time. The plot is as timeless as a Shakespearean Play (and I don't give this praise lightly), from memorable scenes like the Opera House and Cid this game will remain as THE one that most heavily impacted me as a gamer growing up. I also haven't even mentioned the soundtrack which I'd argue is a nigh flawless masterpiece. Needless to say I recommend this to anyone who has or hasn't yet experienced the wonders of Final Fantasy 6 happy journeys be it on Chocobo or Airship.
I love ff6. Grew up playing this back when square soft was making great games and before enix merged and ruined square soft. I think the redesigns aren't too shabby, but the game still had bugs that slow it down during certain events in battle and on the walking screen. Slow down walking across bridge before you get to Vargas. Slow down in battles when you are performing a blitz combo and another character is performing an action in the background. Seeing as this game came out in the 90s you'd think my smartphone could handle it. I don't think this has to do with the iphone. I think it's something the enix needs to fix.
Amazing Square Enix totally re-built FF6 for iOS and it's amazing!!!
Why don't they make it like this anymore?
If you know about this game, I don't need to tell you anything. If you don't, all you need to know is- buy it, now, I wish there was a way I could guarantee this and give you $ back if you in any way dislike this masterpiece.
What can I say more that has been already been told.
This was my first introduction to the FF series as a child and always held the status of one of my all-time favorites! So happy to see that I can finally play it on the go!
The best game of all time on the device I've wanted it on since day 1 with the iPhone.
i recently re-completed this game using my original SNES version. i was excited to purchase this port however SE can not learn that i don't want to mute my phone to mute their games. this one has removed all sound options. i MUST mute my device in order for their game to not make sound. you would think a japanese company would think about these things. don't they ride the JREast at all?
looks really good on my air, i for one like the retouched graphics
It's like I'm 10 again! I feel so old but it's super nostalgic for me! Please make FF7 next square! It's what the people want!
This game is great, but can you please put in an option in settings to get rid of the blue bars above and below the game for iPad and iPad Mini? Just make them black, please, I don’t need the battery life or time up there and it’s distracting me from enjoying the game and it’s incredibly ugly, and looks like an after thought. Other than that, good job.
The best game in the final fantasy series finally arrives to the mobile devices. What more can I say.
