I love RPGs like Zelda and the Golden Sun games. If those two games had a baby, this would be their child! Great graphics, beautiful platforms, super fun puzzles! And their are several awesome walkthroughs online! So fun! Full of great characters with an engaging and well-written story! Would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a Gameboy/PSP-type game for their iPhone!
This game is super fun and it runs perfectly on my iPhone 4S. Keep it up.
It's a good update but like the other guy said it is still a somewhat small screen. On my 5s there is still a portion of the screen this doesn't fill. This is likely the difference in screen size but still....all the screen should be filled....
Across Age dx is a great RPG and really reminds me of the old Zelda games like A Link To The Past and Links Awakening. I also love the idea of switching characters. I have no idea where the Southeast Sea is tho. (Someone please tell me!!!!)
Hello, game looks great, but screen is very small. Shows in lower left hand corner as only a 1/4 of my screen. Please fix for iPhone 5s ATnT.
Hi. I want to play this game, but the game screen is very small and it's located in the bottom left part of the screen. The opening cutscenes works fine, but the game itself is unplayable in this error. It's probably an issue with iOS 7. Please fix
I've seen this game and everything is in english, but when I purchased the game everything was in japanese. How do I change the language to English?? I hope I didn't purchase this for nothing.
Kept me busy for a few days. Would say that the game has limited replay value for me.
Just picked up the game. Cool so far. Any chance of a patch for iPhone 5 screen size?
I think the comparison to Zelda is pretty silly ... this has nowhere near the dynamic gameplay of a classic Zelda game ... but if the tagline said "classic action RPG fans will feel right at home," I'd sure go along with that! ;) I think it's a fine game, with good ideas and plenty of good exploration. And it's refreshing to find an action RPG that doesn't push in-app purchases (this game's price is fine with me). The difficulty is sometimes high, in terms of staying alive and occasionally in terms of figuring out how to proceed in a dungeon, but I'm not complaining.
Optimize it for the iPod touch 5 please
Just like Zelda for SNES. Love it.
This is a great action RPG a lot like Zelda great graphics great story GREAT SOUNDTRACK and great gameplay Highly reccomended
Defiantly worth the money
This is a great game. I'm very surprised how good and fun it is. Only prob is the action/hit button with the melee guy. so, controls are a hint iffy, but nothing you couldn't get used to. Again, totally worth the money.
To all of you who wrote bad reviews for this game, you must have never played the classic rpg games. This game captures that and more. I have been checking many of the rpg games made for the app store and haven't found one I like yet, till now. This captures the fun of Zelda and other like RPGs. It is easy to use and the controls work great without getting in the way. It was well worth $.99.
To start, you won't get a multiple ending, blue screen graphic, voice acted game for under 13$ so easily, so don't complain about a lack of originality. They weren't trying for Chaos Rings. Across Age is a game that does well in its own genre, with decent graphics and music, a not terribly original but thankfully not overly complicated storyline, and functional gameplay. Well, I thought it was very good.
Every time I open the game it crashes. Please fix that.
I haven't gotten very far, just the 2nd visit to the first cave, but this is an excellent game. I'm a huge Zelda fan, so this game gives me chills. Controls, graphics, cutscenes, everything are spot on, like Zelda. I haven't found any cheap shots where enemies juggle you between them like the original Zelda, and I can't figure out how to climb. Great game for any Zelda or rpg fan.
for some unknown season when i down loaded it on my iphone 4 it was in english and now i have a iphone 4s it not in english make it in english for my 4s for 5 stars
No iPhone 5 screen support
What is this BS that the games compatible with 5s its still having a small screen. I want full screen gaming. Update now everyone else has
Kind of unfair to rate I game I can't even play, the screen is only in 1 corner and doesn't even allow me to start playing. Glad I wasted my money on this.
It looks like this app was last updated March 2011. I bought it, and it did not even load correctly. I have an iPhone 5s. The buttons don't work and the screen resolution is off. I can't believe it's even on the App Store. It has a four star rating and the screenshots look promising, big disappointment.
Doesn't have right screen size for iPhone 5s. Plz update so I can actually play the game!!
On the iPhone 5S - When you open this app, it opens up in the lower left hand corner. Can't even play it.
Very boring. Wish I had not Bought it
Being a huge Zelda fan for many years had me excited when I saw this said it was "like" Zelda. It isn't even close to the style and imagination that Zelda brings to the table. I completely regret spending any money on this. The controls first of all are just horrendously aggravating. You think you are moving a certain direction then you run into a wall or fall off a cliff or something. You can rarely accurately face an enemy at the correct angle unless they hit you first. The leveling up system is good for one thing only, keeping you up to speed with the exponentially increasing difficulty that rapidly increases frequently with the monsters that are just copy and paste most the time. The first boss fight alone was maddening to the point where I almost wanted to throw my phone out of a window because the controls disable you from accurately fighting it without spending several hours until you finally have the fight work in your favor. The fact that they force you to kill specific enemies with each hero because they are immune to the damage is annoying. The burden of having to get really good gear for both heroes to keep them on par is a loss of interest. The scaling is just horrendous, making the leveling system null. Don't waste your time or money on this huge lie of a "Zelda" wannabe-ripoff. Anyone who wrote a 5-star review bashing others for giving 1-star obviously never played quality classics or is just inept. Also, it is within people's rights to review how they see fit, seeing as how they ALSO spent money on this waste of space app.
Too easy to level up a character but the fact that only one can use mele and the other one magic blows
I loved this game on iPhone 4 but it NEEDS iPhone 5 screen updates.
This is very bad game all around is very poor on controls....
I don't mind the story or the music, but what I do mind is that first there is no map which is extremely helpful on games like this, add one. The boss fights are repetitive fighting wise, and the abilities should have more variety. Also the walking speed is really slow make it a little faster. One thing you could add is boss battle mode it would be fun thanks
It's like it's trying to capture the feel of a Square Enix RPG or a Zelda game, but it never quite gets there. Graphic design is very cookie-cutter, story is there but not engaging. It turns boring after a while and I just stopped playing.
This game is just another random generic Korean action rpg. It does nothing to said out from the rest of that whole crappy drivel. This game is no way resembles old school RPGs or Zelda, especially Zelda. Just avoid, do not buy into the hype.
To be consistent: I don't rate the music/sound in any apps due to the lack of most creativity found in any of them. And if your playing a game that has repetitive actions, them slashing and oofing sounds only go so far. (Midi sound tracks can be pitiful too.) Now the main grab of this game is probably completion. I can't imagine any other reason to try it. IT IS NOT EVEN REMOTELY ANYTHING INGENUITIVE TO ZELDA. That being if you need to snort methamphetamine and produced a hallucination into believing this is a spawn or inspiration to a classic/retro RPG. Not only are you deceiving yourself, but you probably just huffed baby powder too. The controls are wonky. They work for the most part. Being that if the game doesn't lag, force fall you into a trap, or position yourself right being gangbanged by baddies that you'd be unable to wiggle yourself out of. Its fine. The cheapness takes a few minutes to get used to. Story: There's a really bad dude who plans to conquer/destroy the world. Boy/girl hero. The end. --- Little imagination is used beyond this point. Animation/Graphic: After the first stage area (beginners area to advanced next arch of story) monster sprites are already being reused. And it continues down this lame path. Same applies to npcs in town. Eventually to confusion in dungeon maps as well. There are sidequests that merit little to no rewards. And looting items that can be bought in the item store adds additional "excitement." I truely wonder all these fakes who post these outrageously great reviews are playing the same game here. :/
Controls not intuitive, difficult to find quest targets. Nothing like zelda.
I am a huge Zelda fan and this game is nothing like it what so ever. Without the comparison it's still a terrible game!!! The one star is just because I had to put it in
Didnt like the gameplay and characters! Boring!!!!!
The dialogue is terrible which makes it hard to know where to go next. Characters are stock characters. That mage is characterized as "sexy and direct" and thats it. The main girl is "innocent klutz with surprising potential." main guy is "straightlaced and humorless." If there were Jews or blacks in this game, they'd probably be the stage-Jew or stage-black from the 1800s. The monsters are just a rip off any other JRPG from the 90s. The gameplay is easy but controls make it a challenge. This might be because of the otterbox on my iPhone. The story isn't anything special. I was looking forward to this when I searched "chrono trigger" and this came up, but it's just a cheap imitation. It's not fun or entertaining. They didn't hire a writer and thought they could do it themselves. It looks nice though.
Don't listen to all these people giving this great game a one star. This has got to be the best game I ever paid for and I buy my apps. This game is like a mix of secret of mana and Zelda. It also has a good story. A must have!
We need a sequel to this awesome game..Controls great nice graphics and nice soundtrack too..Worth the money. Now make an Ys type game from Falcom.
This game starts off fun, with a decent story about time travel and solid action/adventure. The 1st boss was interesting though some can complain is hard because it barrages you with attacks and you have to kill it by switching characters' attacks when it has a different stance. However, it tanks right afterwards because it gets very easy to get lost and the pits and rafts are very annoying because you can only go in 1 direction until you hit something. The pits have you go back to the start and the Dedekint Marsh and Ujammi Beach are huge levels, requiring larger maps than the minimaps they give you just to navigate. Combining this with the raft maze is an exercise in frustration. Worse than the raft is the fact that some areas the graphics fool you. You can't go in water but the most shallow on the beach or there's a trapped area you can barely squeak by. Across Age DX is wasted potential.
I bought the DX version so I could use it on my iPhone and my iPad. Doesn't work on iPad. I'm not buying another version. These guys don't appear to support their customers, AVOID. Edit: tried this on my iPhone 4s. It's a horrible game too. It starts out great, is interesting. Then it seems like the game designers ran out of time or money. There are only a few boring monster types. The system is designed to annoy you by having certain monsters that only certain characters can even hurt. It basically forces you to use the girl who's weak because she's the only one who can kill certain monsters. It's basically just really really annoying. I want my money back. And I own over 500 apps and have never asked for my money back for any of them.
Why was it a bad idea to put in a full map of a dungeon, as Zelda did. It's been a while since the last update, so... Just throwing the single most important aspect of a game like this out there... Could I just get a goshdang map!?
This is a great Zelda-ish game. Very well put together, and highly replayable. As for the review below me, the second thing the game info page says is that it only plays on gen 3 & 4, you not being able to read does not knock the score down to a one star rating. Would highly recommend.
This crashes on me at the very beginning, not playable on 2nd gen ipod touch I guess
When game launches I changed it to 2x and game only takes up bottom left quarter of screen. Waste.
