Slow at the beginning but becomes more fun as you play
The game needs to have global chat so you could talk to people and find the right clans for you
Love to play the bad guy!
Good but its a COC type of game. But nice remake of the old strategy game
Hilarious love beating the minions such masicusts easy to play creepy voice lets you know when to check up on love it
For all the graphics and writing, it moves slower than games in the genre. Prolly five star if I had the cash.
This game is amazing and I absolutely love it! It's like tower defense meets clash of the clans but it's it's own thing. I highly recommend downloading you won't regret it! Ideas for future updates: •Make the editing of your base easier like a mode to rearrange your buildings •While in the app I noticed that it blocks communication to iMessage and once I exit out of it I receive all my texts? •The app constantly has trouble connecting to Game Center. •Sometimes when I open it and it finishes loading it takes me to the tutorial and restarts my dungeon, which scares me, but then when I restart the app it goes back to my dungeon. This is a constant problem along with the Game Center bug. Please fix these for 5 stars :) thank you!
I think it's ok but I haven't played the other ones yet
Seriously...I love DK and DK2 is my favorite game of all time. I was extremely excited to see this app pop up in the store and I bought it immediately before there were any reviews. You don't have to pay a lot if you accept that this thing is more of a city sim than my beloved dungeon keeper. As such, it is actually pretty fun. That being said... Where are the heroes? Where is the diverse gameplay? Why does this feel like a simulation and not a real campaign? Torture? Possession?
Wish they would rerelease the classic.
hella evil and addicting 10/10 satans would reccomend
This is a little gem. Long have we missed and almost forgotten the realms of these dark dungeons. However, now we can continue with reigning once again as keeper! Don't know what all the hating is about from some players!
Little hard to follow what's going on. Interesting to watch at first. Worth giving a try.
Loved DK1, DK2...so-so. This game interesting, takes too long 2 build, don't like 2 have 2 spend real $ 2 fully enjoy the game
It's not bad. Not much to it but it's a good waste of time
Awesome game, similar to clash of clans with a twist.
Would have preferred to pay 5$ for a real game but for a freemium game it's not bad
It's a good and addicting game keep up the good work
DK is the best rpg on the App Store!
Play both DK games on PC. It's very similar, but does need some fine tuning. And the waiting...
its not the dungeon keeper you are familiar with. i'd rather spend $60 on a new title than this gimmicky crap where they want hundreds of dollars for crap. yeah...like everyone can afford that... anotger example of EA "where good games go to die"
Just do yourself a favor and emulate the originals. Trust me
I loved the old game for pc. This one starts off great and then slows to a crawl ... Like every other game. I would much rather purchase it and not have to worry about your imps taking forever to build something or to begin having fun again. I'm disappointed :( going to uninstall it now.
Everything takes hours unless you buy gems. Frustrating, annoying, and very intrusive with way too many push notifications.
Not worth calling itself Dungeon Keeper. It's just a cash game.
Brings back memories! The original allowed 4 on a LAN. Not as cumbersome as this, but fun nonetheless. Changed my view! This game is only showing off the greed that EA has become. It has much of the original DK, but leaves one to about 5 minutes of gameplay per session. If you want to play longer, it's gonna cost you. Thanks for killing my nostalgia.
Gameplay is slow, unless you want to shell out fifty bucks for gems to speed things up. This game is a shameless money grab by EA, not to mention an awful ripoff of an old classic. It will take weeks to make any progress in the game; those who have an edge over you have either been playing for at least a month or have spent money purchasing gems. I foolishly spent $10 on gems thinking I could build a "Dark Library" for combat advantage, but it takes way too long to make room for building (try 5 hours for ONE square unit- need about 20 squares to build something). EA got about ten bucks from me, but that's the first and last time I'm making an IAP with them.
The game is really boring and also can not use your troops for a defense, why do I need them after all!?!
Great game ruined by never ending money sucking gems. A single price to purchase the game rather than this bucket of leaches would have been nice, but greed over playability seems the order of business here. Don't bother with this one.
It asked me if it could send push notifications. I said no. It still sent them! Why do games do that? Then, I went to go to the game and all my progress was deleted. It looked cool, but after reading the other reviews, I'm not so sure I want to bother.
I would pay $10 to play my old favorite Dungeon Keeper instead of this freemium POS. It's a Clash of Clans clone with 1/10 the fun or engagement. Skip it.
Just a blatant money-grab. I'd rather pay $10 for the real game than this nonsense.
Pay $1.99 to get more stars for this review!
I would've gladly paid up front for an updated version of Dungeon Keeper. Instead I got to see what could've been before hitting my first four hour wall. Haven't been back since.
Screw you EA
You guys need to reconfigure your whole setup. This game COULD BE FUN, but you ruin it. Reduce the waiting times and cost of IAPs! Why is flappy bird so popular? Because there is no waiting and no attempts to rob users of their real money, even though it is mundane & repetitive. I'll straight up pay $10 for a good game that doesn't use shady tactics to sell IAPs. EA, fire your marketing team or whoever you have in charge of this charade. Users, you are all total morons if you consider giving these guys a dime until they change this. I wish EA would actually listen, think, and correct this asap because I would personally love to be able to enjoy this game and give it a 5 star rating. Instead, I have a newfound distaste for EA, way to go dumbf^€£s.
the in app transactions lay ruin to yet another timeless classic. you can't play this game offline.
EA's touch of death has taken the life of yet another great game. This time it's the classic dungeon keeper. It will eat at your time money and will to live as you play a game that asks you to pay money to get your constructions now. Don't download this fungus of a game I'm sorry I even gave it a chance.
Huge fan of the originals. However please for the love of all that is holy. Release a premium one we can buy that does away with the in game purchases. The only similarity between this and a once beloved franchise is the name, and the voice work. Beyond those two things EA has really dropped the ball. From Bullfrog which had DK3 previewed so many years ago until EA threw it on the chopping block. One would think they are sitting on a potential gold mine. Gamers would be more then happy to by a FULL game. Bioware did it with the remake of Baldurs Gate for mobile. EA, if you aren't going to honor a great franchise perhaps it's time to sell it to a company that will. Even the original creator of DK was shocked at how you handled this.
Not a game. Just asks for money. Impossible to make real progress without spending lots of cash.
The game is polished and fun, but it quickly becomes apparent that you need to buy gems to get any real work done. Ruins the experience.
The problem with this game is two-fold. yes, the in app purchases are aggressive, but the real problem is time. takes too long to do anything. If EA doesn’t update the app to get more in line with a playable game, this version of DK will be short lived.
A cynically motivated skeleton of a non-game, a scam that will take your cash and offer nothing in return. A perversion of a respected series, twisted by some of the most soulless, selfish, and nauseating human beings to ever blight the game industry.
App crashes often. IAP everything after the start. Clash of clans is better, smoother graphics, not jumpy. Can't understand some of the concepts but same theory as clash of clans.
EA has finally jumped on the pay to play bandwagon.........I for one used to love this company. Now I'll be boycotting them. Way to ruin an old game. What' next EA pay to score a touchdown in football? What a joke. Doesn't EA make enough money without this pay to play tactic?
Another ruined game with IAP
Sadly, the original two games' model has been distorted into a form that utilizes the original premise and style elements, but loses almost all of the fun. Either the player must creep along at a snail's pace, or he/she must spend a lot of money to produce a reasonable game flow. EA was clearly focusing on how to maximize profits, instead of trying to build a good game.
Lobe the game
If EA feels greedy like supercell to put everything lasting hours and hours to build up and the only way to speed it is using gems (like clash of clans) than this game will Su****....
I instantly downloaded this app, being a massive fan of the Dungeon Keeper Franchise. However, after logging in a good chunk of time, there are is many things wrong with this game. First off, imps and everything in the IAS are disgustingly overpriced for their supposed benefits. In order to properly get anywhere in the game you have to be glued to the app 24/7 otherwise you get your resources raided and honestly can't progress after a certain point (as was my problem, I logged in five to six times a day and was raided at least 2 or 3 times a day). I never played Dungeon Keeper for PvP, making it optional at higher levels would have been much more appealing.
This game is all about pay to rush (insert any task here). This is now more like dragon land or some F2P game then Dungeon Keeper.
This game is IAP and wait time galore. It's impossible to make any progress without having to spend real cash. To expand your dungeon you have to mine blocks. There are three types of blocks: one that takes 3 seconds to mine, another that takes 4 hours and the last one takes literally a day. I'm not even joking. I haven't played the original but I can already say the original is far superior. No wonder EA is named the worst game company. -__-
I haven't spent a penny on this game. And yet, I have played considerably long and will keep doing it. Why? Because I like the idea of building my own dungeon gradually, even if I have to wait from time to time. The game is well though through with some strategic decisions that need to be made. You can change the layout of your dungeon at any time and try out different possibilities. And at all times there's somebody better than you... That's what drives the game for me. I recommend checking this out and not relying on reviews of those players that clearly do not like to wait for anything.
Very good game.
It finally happened. I first thought that everyone was being too down on iap but I hit the point today where it is taking forever to do anything in this game and while I wait I get raided and lose resources to much higher levels. 24 hours for one wall!!!! 5 star to 2. Don't waste your time or money!
Horrible money grab disguised as a beloved series.
Pretty tired of this formula- even "balanced" ones. Simply tapping on things in a streamline manner and then being extorted with ridiculous delays is not a "challenge".
To get enough resources build 1 ten minute upgrade. So yea...
we know the 5 stars review are being paid :)
I downloaded this game 6 hours ago, I've been playing for 6 hours
You have, they want it
Crap. Such a disappointment. It's not about nostalgia. It's about not being able to do anything but wait unless you spend money? TWO MINIONS? Gimme a break. What kind of dark lord can only afford two minions? EA has killed Dungeon Keeper. Thanks buddies.
Love the devil, he makes it way better than C.O.C
I downloaded dungeon keeper hoping to find the game from my youth. I wasn't entirely disappointed. It's so similar, and yet so different. The gameplay is very similar to what I remember from my old PC days. And the in game sounds and graphics are fantastic! Unfortunately, after those praises the rest is just… Evil. The in game purchases are ridiculously expensive and make the game nigh unplayable. I really wish there was some kind of option to play the game and not reach the highest levels without an in-app purchase. But as you have to purchase gems in order to do anything productive after the tutorial, the game shoots itself in the foot. Sorry, sport. You can't get your teenagehood back on iOS. I would've gladly paid 5.99 for this game, but having to pay for it afterword, seems more than disingenuous.
Could have been a great revival of an old game, instead it's just a desecrated corpse.
I gave it a two cause it's fun but the micro transactions do plague the flow.
Designed to take money from your wallet and be a waste of time. Can't play for more than 5 minutes without it asking for money or taking 24 hours to do something.
Game seems fine but then you have to purchase expensive in-app purchases to advance. I have nothing against the odd in app purchase as I realize that developers need to get paid but not at these prices. Rather let me buy the game complete without the need to keep forking out cash later or make the in app prices reasonable.
I've never seen a freemium game that was this expensive. It's unplayable with buying speeding up gems.
Awesome game get it. You have way more gems then clash of clans or drgon city! :-)
First BF4, now this EA is becoming the literal cancer of video games
Great spin off to clash of clans!! :D
You cant create a game called dungeon keeper an not even be able to come close to the original DK this game play is just like farmville or any other stupid build ur base an defend it game on the phone. Atleast with DK we got to play with Horny lol
I played the first two games on PC. I loved them. This game has a lot to live up too.
But I am hopeful improvements will come soon Game removes a lot of the freedoms and 0 pet dungeon type time killers. Also requires a connection & Takes HOURS to do anything
The original Dungeon Keeper is one of my favorite games of all time. This pale imitation is ruined by the omnipresent in app purchases that are required if you want to actually play the game for more than a few minutes at a time.
I started playing this game and I liked it not hard and not too simple but every time I left the app for like 5 mins and the game restarts the whole thing I restarted like 4 times and gave up lots of problems
EA tarnished a beloved, existing franchise with this one. Pacing is far too slow and the gem store has terrible balancing. Save your money. I wish they would have used some new IP instead of releasing a thinly veiled FarmVille clone under the banner of DK. I would have been willing to pay a good amount for a real DK reboot. Shameful.
Otherwise be ready to pay and join the bandwagon of complainers. A bit unbalanced but with the original designer fighting it, things may brighten up in the future.
EA doesn't even make good games anymore. This is a mockery of a great Pc game. Avoid at all costs, plus, it's just a scam.
It's not that the game is so far removed from the original that bothers me; what bothers me most in game is how slow it is. Unless you're willing to shell out money, you're going to be waiting a long time for things. An unreasonable amount of time. Some of the original humor is intact, but much rather would have had a pay once and done game rather than this. With some improvements the game could get better.
The mechanics of gameplay revolve around spending money, not fun. Simple as that.
The one star raters are dumb
There is not much to say other then avoid this game. It may have been passable if almost all play content was not locked behind a pay wall. Way to ruin another great old franchise ea. really living up to that worst company title.
To all the other haters. Be patient. All good things to those who wait. Kids these days have no patience. You don't have to pay. Just put your device down for a while.... Then check back latter, and BAM!!! Whatever you were building is done. Get a clue and just wait for it.
Don't bother installing it. You'll just delete it the next day. I loved DK on the PC! But after having this app for < 24 hours I'm now stuck where I can't play at all for hours on end unless I pay money. Rinse. Repeat. This is the worst example of the type of play that I've seen yet. Pretty graphics and witty personality in the game isn't worth anything if I can only play for about a minute and a half before I'm forced to put the game down for 4 hours. No exaggeration.
Honestly great game but...constantly reloads at random moments ..
Love this game
This doesn't make sense... Create a game that by design begs the player to open it as often as possible to keep workers working and resources flowing, put it on mobile devices that will be taken all over the place (especially if you actually want to keep the game moving and open it all the time) where there may or may not be WiFi available, then make an internet connection a requirement to play. Someone didn't think this through. It's boring. Most game time is spent waiting for things to finish building. Defending or attacking a dungeon is too simplistic with no control over what is happening except what order you send your minions into the dungeon and how quickly. If you send many into one area to defend and the enemy next comes from the other side of the dungeon, your minions stand around on the other side doing nothing. You lose. Building could be fun, but again it's slow going because EA is trying to get you to buy a lot of in game currency which you spend to speed things up. I don't have anything against in app purchase, but I do think its ridiculous to ask for $100 at the top tier purchase. I should be able to get through a game with fun while spending no more than a couple hundreds dollars (and that's rich). These in app purchase tactics are trying to bore you into spending thousands (literally). Why should I buy in app currency to make up for the designers inability to create a compelling game? They're trying to find the balance between annoying you and keeping you playing after making the game fun enough through buying currency. They failed in this one.
Connection issues big time!!
Takes awhile but fun
Absolute greed in typical EA fashion. Are the stockholders writing code these days? Must buy something, everywhere, just to get to the next levels. Never again will I deal with EA for any platform.
Fun fun fun
