I have spent entirely too much time playing this great game. If the game is boring, ratchet up the difficulity.
Really fun, wish it didn't keep crashing.
The good - the options for faster victory conditions and technology rates, and 3 unit armies allow you to play a game within a couple of hours, instead of taking days. - also gone is the tedious landscape management - road building, irrigation, etc. The bad - even in Civ II, the AI did not know how to lay a massive siege against a city. In Civ Rev, it's worse. They barely attack, even at Diety level, making it too easy. The AI also does not know how to deal with lots of barbarians, meaning that they often have only 1 large, capital city. Not much of a challenge. The ugly - has crashed on me a could of times - has hung up on me a couple of times - could not tell a unit to wait till next turn, and no [END TURN] buttton appears for the next turn - all of which means, you need to save every 5 minutes The very ugly - when you press on a unit, Civ proceeds to center it on the screen, even when you still holding your finger down. So your finger winds up trying to drag the unit someplace you don't want. Suggestions for developers - the center square of a city should count for resources. Now it's irrelevant. :( - managing city resources is better than the old tedious square by square landscape building. But it's not obvious how to do it. - have a game option to turn off the babbling voices! - Warriors should not be able to shoot down aircraft
Doesn't crash for me. This is the best turn based strategy game I've found. I wish it was as complex as civ IV or v, but this is a solid iOS game. I've wasted too many hours playing this one. It could be more challenging, however.
This game is good. It reminds me of the computer game I used to play. It needs to have your throne room like there was in civ two. When ever you did good you can add to your throne room.
This is a fantastic version of a terrific game series. I bought the original Civilization for my IBM 486 back in the mid 1990s and have the current versions of Civ V through Steam. This version is perfect for a mobile device, though I suspect playing on an iPhone might be difficult due to screen size. For repeat playability, though, the multiplayer add-on is a must. I play my friends from high school and random people online - each game is a treat.
While in multiplayer I found different maps and one was earth please add these maps to single player please.
Great game for only $0.99 lots of replay value!
An update is needed to fix the regular crashes. Also, once you buy all the updates the game is way too easy, even on deity.
This game is fun but none of other computer players know each other , I mean seriously if I see a Mongolian horse man in german territory you would think they new each other ,but no all you get is a I have not had the honor of meeting this person.
Great game, love the upgrades.
The game runs okay. The biggest issue is that you can have only four opponents and such a small world. There is very little reason to play the game once you get into the Industrial Age. Otherwise, a nice game to pass time.
Having played Civ3 and 4 wayyyy back I enjoy the familiar gameplay of Civ. But this is a watered-down version, lacking elements such as terrain improvement, numerous buildings (incl. the packs), limited diplomacy, and limited sized map. The game is stable (didn't crash at all on a 2nd Gen iPad) and works fine. But unlike the 'real' Civ, where a game can take many many hours this version will keep you entertained for 2-3 hours only. I won on Deity level achieving all of the four kinds of victories possible.
This is a great game overall. My favorite of the series, but it doesn't run well on first generation iPad. Crashes every 15 minutes or so, and runs really slowly in later eras.
Great game against the AI but multiplayer full of bugs. I can see opponents units in my territory and we are not at war. I see boats on land and land units on water. Starts out normal but after a while all chaos breaks out. I hope they fix soon. Really like playing. Big fan of the whole series.
Took a little getting used to, but after a couple rounds, love the pace, and how the game is sped up through some of the original time consumers of the game. Excellent adaptation
This is civ like you know, but its trimmed down for a mobile platform. That can make the decision making processes more like guesswork at times. But its still a great turn based strategy game.
On the next update I will like to see the date go longer or goes if u won or loss
I do enjoy playing Civilization, yet it's pretty annoying that I can't finish a single game without the app crashing at least once. As a result I've gotten into the habit of saving the game before I end every turn.
I truly despise this game only after 29 mins....... It's nothing like civ rev on Xbox and the biggest waste of money ever!!!!!
Multi-player is badly broken, crashes, bugs etc. Unplayable. 2k games never responded.
Had an epic game going and that BLASTED thing hangs!!! fix it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great game... But I bought multiplayer and it said it doesn't work on iPad, PLEASE FIX!!!
Bought the game because it said multiplayer but once you buy the game you need to pay more money for multiplayer??
Civilization crashes ALL. THE. TIME. Cannot go 5 minutes without a reboot.
Game is unplayable. It crashes out whenever I try to attack a village with my warrior.
All in all a great game. Larger worlds and tougher opponents would be welcome.
The updates do not address the features that need work, instead more in-app purchases are made available at greater the cost of the game. For example a problem I have noticed is that the AI interaction is completely terrible. I have been playing this game since it cost $6.99 and the AI does not recognize other AI troops right next to them.
I was sold on the in app promise to enable multiplayer over wi-fi. We purchased the multiplayer and the game never allowed us to play over the wi-fi on separate devices. Not to mention the app ripped me off several times on the purchase of the multiplayer and I would really like a full refund on the game app and the in app multiplayer cost as I'm deleting the app.
A beautifully created game! This game is fun to play and will provide hours of entertainment. There are a couple of small bugs that need to be patched, but nothing too annoying. I only wish that Civilization 5 could come out for the next gen consoles and mobile platforms! Huge fan of all the Civilization games, and this does not disappoint!! (I would give it 4.5 stars if I had the option)
Love this game, but I hate that it crashes all the time. I have a first gen iPad...
I would rather see a Civ3 port than add-on packs to Civ Rev.
Got hooked on civ rev on play station, it translates very well to iPad. Be careful of errant taps though, lest you send a unit somewhere unintentionally. I've been playing it for hours with minimal (1 or 2) crashes at most.
It is soooooooooo bad it keeps logging me out and shutting down my iPad!
Thanks for the reviews I purchased the app because I love the game. If I pay for a game I want the whole game, I do not like when I buy a game where I have to buy other parts. Other than that fun game I like Civ II & III much better.
Fun and addictive, but some aspects are not intuitive.
This game couldn't have gone through quality control
Still waiting for them to make this version a little harder or more complex but still my favorite game on the iPad. I would love it if it got as good as the PC version.
Some glitches, but great playability
This game reminds me of the days way back when, when we would play Risk for hours. Entertaining, and fun. Movement is a little kitschy and the graphics could be sharper, but I like it.
Compared to playing civ V on the PC, this doesn't even come close. Horrible controls.
Not too buggy. Distracting and amusing. Not deep enough,, if you are a CIV fan, but okay for a flight or two.
Minus another star for begging me to rate the game every time I finish. Not cool. Hope you read these and address some of the issues. -------- Why would I buy a game they advertise when they've screwed up this one so badly? Hasn't been top notch since the multiplayer update. It takes way too long to load data from the cloud for even a medium sized game with one opponent. Games get out of sync so that I've ended up attacking infantry units with submarines or having my opponent attack a city that's empty when I have 3 units in it. Network games do not survive software updates. Really needs more fit and finish work.
Awesome strategy game. Always different and difficult.
God I love this game. Better than sex. No problems on my 1st gen iPad mini.
I can waste days playing this game. Didn't have any problems with crashing.
Really time for a complexity update...
This is definitely fun in the CIV WORLD way but it is sort of redundant and predictable. Going to spend the money and get some DLC so hope that helps.
