Customer Reviews

  • Great App! Falls short on searching

    by Angienicoleu

Not often do I feel apps like this are well thought out and function well. Only complaint is their searching function. It's a pain to get to and it directs you to the website which constantly crashes. It also does not allow you to save recipes from the searches. Would definitely be a 5 star if this worked!

  • Love it!

    by Megan Walker

Love this app as much as I love cooking light :)

  • Great App!

    by Kimmypompoms

    I love this app!

  • Like it but...

    by kirbyb

Love the idea of all my magazines in one place. But one suggestion, would like to search for the recipe either just like the back page of each print mag or by searching by food type or recipe name.

  • Decent reading experience, bad integration with other apps

    by Birbybirby

They claim to be able to upload recipes to my but this doesn't work. This lack of functionality makes the app much less useful.

  • Easy and Convenient

    by M8843

I have always enjoyed looking at Cooking Light magazine, and this app is just a great! It has a good font, layout, user friendly and as always great recipes!

  • All previous issues gone - now OK

    by Keychic

Upgraded the app today, and all my previously-purchased issues have disappeared. My library is empty. Can't download the old issues from the store either. "Restore issues" function not working. Update: this problem evidently was fixed. The app is working now. I love the layout, and having early access to each issue before my magazine arrives in the mail.

  • Excellent

    by Adelaide64

Love this app and being able to have these recipes on my fingertips.

  • Bookshelf

    by Frn2

Great app to keep all your books and magazines together!

  • Great app

    by Eileens9

Great app. Great recipes. Easy to access.

  • Fantastic

    by Steelina

I just added this to my subscription, and I love it! It's so user friendly, and easy to navigate, and I already have a number of new recipes added after just one visit!

  • Love this magazine app!

    by Maura Delbene

The cooking light recipes and articles are so consistently informative and practical. The App just makes it even easier to access and store! The graphics are so helpful and encourage more healthful activities In cooking. Thanks!

  • Nice!

    by LsCT

    Really good user interface!

  • It's OK, but it could be so much better

    by TakenIguess

It's full of advertings, so much so that it is really hard to follow an article. Very annoying. That is too bad because otherwise it could be interesting.

  • Favorite App!!!

    by Ceesa52

I love this app!! It keeps all my magazines organized, and each one is ready for me to read right when I have some spare time !!!!!

  • Msgt

    by USMC MSgr

Great app. Now I don't have magazines stacking up!

  • Cooking Light Magazine

    by Sawblade54

Excellent presentation, excellent color, excellent navigation and excellent, easy to make recipes!

  • Works great

    by RuleTurner

One of the better magazine apps.

  • Improvement

    by Mixedepisode

This version of the app is a definite improvement. The recipe index is a huge help. It is still a little cumbersome navigating.

  • Great!

    by PCinABQ

I like the great photos and informative recipes and articles. Being interactive also makes this more than just a cooking magazine.

  • Crashhhhhh

    by brandi Davis

I cannot download the magazine. I do have an older iPad but if the app does not work, give me my money back. Also you really need bookmarks. Not added to another site or app. Bookmarks in your app

  • The worst app.

    by Cek21or

Hard to get around the app. No search function. Couldn't find anything. Gave up. Had to restart my ipad. Going to delete it and stick to the magazine.

  • Disappointed too

    by Marc_keting

I agree with others this app is disappointing. I got stuck in a Lowes ad and had to delete app to get out. The navigation in an issue never works. I was excited to switch from paper to iPad but guess I'll have to wait.

  • Doesn’t Work Worth a Hoot!

    by Moondreamer

Saved a recipe one night…next night it was gone. Now its not accepting my e-mail and password. It LOOKs great but it works for sheet! I’m ready to go back to my paper magazines. So disappointed!

  • Unable to download

    by Lleahllama

I just subscribed and cannot download the magazine. The loading animation spins with no progress. Sad, as I was looking forward to this app.

  • Crap

    by Raistlyn Hotep

This is the worst app I have ever used. I cannot open the magazine and have changed my password a million times. Just get the paper magazine and do not deal with this headache.

  • Not good

    by Croal128

Saving recipes on iPad is impossible. Not happy!

  • lllAutism

    by Mom333999

iOS 7 on iPad 2, will not even allow you to sign in. Keyboard pops up then disappears so that you cannot type...kept trying, still can't get in after shutting down, restarting etc...Aggrivating!

  • Won't download

    by Lyn402

    Very disappointing. Won't download.

  • My surprise charge

    by mrittenb

I would like to complain about a charge made to my credit card for $36. This charge was totally unexpected since my subscription was still active and I have been downloading them for some time now. Will someone please tell me what happened...why was I charged? I will say I have enjoyed perusing the recipes but I still like my paper copy mag :-(

  • Disappointed

    by jkdcb

My October issue only partially downloaded. It now says the download paused?? No idea how to resume.

  • Please fix

    by Nikki17643

    Will not work with iso7

  • Navigation on the app a bit confusing

    by Oscar and Clyde's mom

I love the fact that I can store and review the recipes. Where they are located and how they are coordinated on the app seems a bit confusing. When I tried to make folders ( soups, desserts, etc.) not every recipe would make it to the appropriate folder. But overall I would recommend it. 9/14/13 Just downloaded the new update. Lost all my previously saved recipes! Also the print feature does not work on my iPad.

  • Terrible app

    by YellowNotes

I was really excited about accessing my print subscription digitally, but it won't allow me to sign in. It will only let me purchase issues, not sign in and download my current subscription issues. Very disappointing.

  • Download with current app version takes FOREVER

    by Chefvickidee

I'm a long time user, and downloading the Oct 13 issue with new app version has taken over 30 minutes. What's up? Sent note to support , but no response in two days. Full issue has STLL not downloaded. Grrrr.

  • Ugly and poorly organized

    by Tired of poor design

I'm not impressed by this app - it annoys me that I need to go through several steps when I want to change from one magazine to another. Also, when writing this review there is no indication that "Nickname" is a required field so no clue as to why submit is grayed out. Then, when you try to enter nickname and it is already in the system the review window it closes and you are forced to click the "write review" button to open it again. Very unintuitive if you thought you already HAD written the review. Stupid design errors - should have been caught in the planning stage - must be using Agile...

  • Terrible

    by Ksgb8491

It will not down load any of the magazines from my subscription. Wants me to buy all of them for $4.99 each. Sorry I went digital. Too bad I can't give it o stars!

  • I would give zero stars if possible

    by Dfagan17

Very confusing, unable to download new issues and moving through the one issue I can see is ridiculously slow and cumbersome.

  • terrible

    by Jojofromcocoamoe52

    i want my money back

  • Love the print version, hate the app

    by Dean T Gerszewski

Come on CL, open any other digital magazine product and take some notes on basic navigation. The user interface is so frustrating to use, I'll just stick to the hard copy. Please fix soon -- it wouldn't even take that many resources to do it.

  • Not so much

    by Avis Homan

As on other reviewer said confusing and frustrating. Content is good but hard to navigate.

  • Poor navigation and searchless

    by Ginhut

Very difficult to usefully use as a tool. Was hoping for at least a basic search. An index would be even better and lastly a navigation menu to easily return to main menu. Sorry it's easier to use the magazines.

  • Cooking Light App

    by Bsb53012

This App is very frustrating to use. There seems to be no way to sign in. I was only able to download one magazine even though I have a full year subscription. I followed the directions to sign in, but there is no sign in button!

  • Disappointing, at best

    by Benjamin Blumchen

We've subscribed to Cooking Light for 20+ years. I even bought the Mastercook software way back when. So I was intrigued by the idea of an iPad app. This is actually beyond disappointing - it won't let me log- in, saying my email address is invalid, despite several attempts. Of course I'm quite certain of my email address. This is strictly amateur hour work.

  • Not great

    by Violet826

This app is beyond confusing - it should be organized so much better

  • Beautiful looking but annoying

    by JARL2020

I love the look of the magazine on my iPad, but I was so annoyed when I loaded my second month, and the first month disappeared. I didn't even get the chance to enjoy the first one. I was looking forward to using my iPad in the kitchen. It is also annoying that you have to flip each page back to get to the first one. That is unless I am missing something.

  • Was a fan

    by I pad on fire

As other post, I cannot get my my subscript to down load. Driving me crazy.had in on my kindle fire, want to move to my I pad. Will not transfer. All other magazines a breeze. If I could reach and choke someone I would (:

  • Cooking Light

    by Aimee1299

Seems like a great idea, but fails in many search function, and the popup ads are incredibly annoying. Crashed three times in 10 minutes of use. I will be holding on to my paper copies for a bit until I come up with a digital solution of my own.

  • Cooking light magazine

    by Hayes Corner

Get a real app to save recipes on the iPad. whatever this is, is so poor I will be dropping my subscription. Lost a customer from the frustration of a poor quality electronic version that loops and never let's you save the recipe. FYI. No stars is more accurate do not waste your time

  • Hate this app

    by Bridgia

I cannot for the life of me figure how to use this app and I am an IT professional. Worst app ever!!!!

  • Poor APP

    by The Frank 22

The APP, or the people making the updates do a poor job. Current issue won't open because it requires the latest app but the one I have is the latest. Even when I re-downloaded the app, it still doesn't work. I have several other magazines and none have these kind of problems.

  • Buggy, frustrating and disappointing

    by I hate gophers

This app continues to frustrate me. The newest issue is often not yet available when an app alert says that it is. Then I can't download the newest issue when it finally appears in the library because the app thinks that it is not the latest version of the app when it is in fact the latest. Where is the quality control?

  • Needs more work

    by Trish3579

Love the magazine, but the app needs work. I still haven't figured out how to download my second issue, and I'm a subscriber. The Rave advertisement is hard to escape from, which is really annoying. Wish you could have a smaller scanning area on the bottom of the screen, like Zino has with their magazines; helps to find specific pages faster.
