Get in the know in no time.
Yahoo News Digest provides a definitive summary of all the important, need-to-know news. Digests are delivered twice a day - once in the morning and once in the evening. All the top stories are summarized and presented with the key information that you need to stay on top of what’s happening.
Each story is created from multiple sources to present the essential bits and pieces of information, known as “Atoms”. Atoms are key quotes, images, videos, stock tickers, maps, infographs, and Wikipedia excerpts among others. These atomic units provide a unique context to the news. Our stories are both algorithmically and hand curated to ensure high quality, and come with a textual summary.
Yahoo News Digest makes your reading experience comprehensive, effortless, and complete. Our goal is to fully inform you on all the key headlines of the day in a finite and visual manner.
We are committed to building the best mobile experience and are interested in your feedback.

This is my favorite mini news app. It has the feel of flipboard but with 6 to 8 very manageable news stories delivered twice a day and getting the little reward at the end for reading all the stories is fun.
I was skeptical at first - do I really need another news app? - but once I started using it, I realized how good it is to have a small series of bite size news snippets twice a day that keep me updated on what's happening in the world. This is a great idea and I check this app every morning and night for the daily news. Definitely recommend.
I was sad to see the app Summly leave the App Store when Yahoo! bought it, but I am very pleased with how Yahoo! has put it to good use. I like being able to see top stories at a glance and read more in depth if I want. I think the fact of the day bit is a nice touch and I like the option to read more news if I want. While this is a great app to start with, I hope Yahoo! begins to allow more customizability to better suit the user's tastes in news. I would like this app much better if I could choose news categories in addition to top stories or even create my own as I was able to with Summly. Overall, this is a great app that I use in conjunction with a few others to keep up with news and I'm looking forward to future updates.
I could say a lot about how gorgeous the app is, or about how intuitive the navigation is with just the right amount whimsy, or about how fresh the two-digest a day format is, or about how well-curated the news summaries are, or how much the extra items included in each story like photos, maps, tweets and Wikipedia entries add to the presentation. I won't say any of that, but I could. What I love the most about the new Yahoo! news app - it delivers actual news! Each day, twice a day, I can rely on it to brief me on the top 9 most important stories of the day in news, politics, business, etc. Not like some other sources like (disappointingly) CNN and (predictably) Drudge that lead with sensational stuff that is more at home on Extra! than the nightly news (does that exist anymore?). Get it, use it, love it.
Nicely done general news aggregator with slick interface transitions that looks like it belongs on iOS 7.
I enjoy the fact I can customize the news I want to read and that I don't have to spend a long time reading if I don't have the time. Perfect for the day to day overview of events.
Most important thing with news apps is readability and limitations on ads. This has both so the question remains is this a good app? I would simply answer by saying it can be a great app. I understand it is a new app and Yahoo! wants to be different than other news and get their name back out there. My issue with the app is that it seems as though Yahoo! is controlling what we read in this app. There is really no way to read what you want because you are limited to past and todays what I believe is randomly selected "news". I put the word news in quotations because a lot of what I was reading should not be considered news. Out of the 11 articles that I was allowed to read today only 2 or 3 were actually news and interesting. I say a major improvement would be allowing the users to read what they want and not limit us to what you think we should be reading. It really makes the user feel there is a limit to what they can do with the app. A good app would make me want to open it throughout the day. The current app version we are on now would only interest me to open the app maybe twice a day since there is morning and nightly news. Fix these issues and we have a great app that will make the top 10 news apps list.
Being someone that doesn't really care to stay on top of the news and really just want to know the top stories each day this is perfect! Beautiful design! Love the mashup of photos, video, wiki, tweets, etc! Love what Yahoo has done.
I love this app, gives me just the right amount of news to not waste my time! Just wish there was an iPad version too..
I never write reviews, but this app is incredible. And gorgeous. Way to go Yahoo!
The layout is simple and easy to understand, and I love being able to 'earn' the extra facts and news by reading all of the stories. Yahoo has made it very easy to find more in depth coverage of the topics, as well as including Wikipedia, Twitter, and Google Maps.
I like his app and like the idea of a curated news stream, but I'd like to see an iPad version. I downloaded this on my iPad mini 2 from the great Yahoo Weather app and did not realize it was iPhone only. Looks terrible on a larger screen.
I love the concept. The top news stories twice a day.
I have used many news aggregator apps in the past and have to admit that I always ended up not using them, as there was always too much information. This app only provides you a small set of news articles twice a day, with the option to read more if you are done with them. This actual limitation of news stories delivered makes this app great, as it avoids the overload of news to you. Secondly, the presentation of the news article with all the related stories from other channels, like Twitter and Wikipedia, makes this app even more valuable. I have often found myself in the past to get more insight on an article from other channels and would have to navigate to other apps to get it. Yahoo News Digest makes it extremely easy to consume related tweets, Wikipedia info, etc. with an easy and well working mechanism to get back to the original story. Overall, great news app and keep it coming Yahoo!
The app is great, but I guess I'll have to add it to my list of things to avoid until after the Olympics because I actually enjoying WATCHING the Olympics. You've ruined 2 days of events for me so far. (Or at least give me a option to not have Olympic results included.) Otherwise, I love the app. I just hate it right now and won't love it again for a couple more weeks.
Great app. I appreciate how well edited and produced it is. I highly recommend.
Very good app, but I would rather have breaking news notifications that her than reminders.
Good idea. Love the quick news reads. However, I had to delete this since the started to divulge Olympic medal info before it was shown on TV. And it was the first story, so no warning. A simple pop-up to say they would have these stories and I wouldn't have looked further. Good bye
So many news apps to chose from and so many stories aren't worth the time. This app is very beautifully designed snd runs very smoothly as it was designed for iOS 7 and the concept is great - obviously options for extra news and how it's delivered could be improved but for a first release this is impressive, yahoo had designed some pretty nice apps lately.
This is a perfectly executed app. It makes reading the news fun and addictive. I like the integration of photos, videos, tweets and Wikipedia.
Crashes on start-up in my iPhone 4 (7.0.4). Was this not supposed to work in older models?
Crashes on iPhone 5S it doesn't even open. Tried even restarting it.
Had the app for a while then deleted it. First, I set the notification setting to NOT notify me but I still go the notice in the window twice a day. Second, After downloading this app I was not getting through a full day on a single charge. Deleted this app and suddenly I am back to two or three days between charges. This app keeps something in the background open all the time.
but could be better if a zoom in-out function or users can adjust the font size.. as the font is too small and hard to read in my old age..
I'm happy for this
I really liked this app. It gives you the top news and theres more news if you scroll further down on the screen. That is if you have extra time. It would be better if i could have MY city's top news as well. Update You guys should have the app recognize what you like to read and add the weather
I don't often write app reviews, but this app really deserves a shout out. Yahoo has done a great job of picking out the most relevant news of the day and parring it down to the most essential facts. I love that all of their references are listed with the article, and that AP, Twitter and Wikipedia are integrated into the interface so that I can find out more info about a topic right from within the app. The video, image and graphical media are a great plus too.
This is my new favorite app! I can't get enough! It's really easy to use and a great time saver. Love how it gathers and summarizes news but gives you options and sources to go as deep as you want as far as research and information. Grey way to stay up on news for the person who doesn't have he time or desire to read the newspaper or dig through the seemingly infinite and endless depths of internet news sources.
This is the easiest way to get the basics of the news without muddling through a bunch of other stuff. 9 stories, twice a day.
what depth & richness; hope veracity & due diligence is there.
I like this concept, you get a bit of news of a diversity of topics such as politics, world, economy, entertainment, etc. I like to read them on the go. Pretty neat app!
Keep it up Yahoo!
With all the apps out there delivering tailored news stories, it's hard to justify keeping a news app that delivers so many stories I don't care to read.
I've always tried keeping up to date with the news. I've never been more on top of it since Yahoo's Daily Digest app was released. It's the perfect twice a day update! Quick and summarized but beyond headlines. I only keep my other news app for breaking news push notifications.
Crashes, crashes a lot please fix this app for iPod Touch users I really give a try to this app
Awesome Graphics Very easy to use Fun reading various articles Best app I have ever seen with such good interface and graphics
I'm more of a gossip news person but to keep up to date on real news this is great. Fast and hits the main things to keep me in the loop. Much better than AP app, not as much to go through to get the main news.
I agree with others, most professionals are well into their morning by 8:00 am. 6:00 am would be a good time . Even 7:00 would help some still on their morning commute.
I like this concept of bite-size on the go news that includes extra resources about each given article. Here are my pros: Pleasant and polished looking UI I like the reminders in the morning and evening and it's easy to break with many additional sources links. Cons: sometimes it's features do not work many times I look at an article and the subject is very popular and yet the app offers nothing from Twitter even though Twitter is one of the sources for the app also they're been numerous times that I have tapped on a video in an article and it won't start. It brings up the video player for just a second before the app jumps back into the article. So you cannot get the video to play. Other than these teething bugs overall I have to say I like the app. Good job Yahoo!
This app is cool and great! A must have!!
I've been using this app for about a month now and it's seriously awesome. It never crashes and runs really smooth. I love how convenient it is to get all of the day's news in a small package
Yahoo nails it again. This is not your old yahoo.
If the news items were not so much American centric I would haven't given it a 5 star.
I've had this idea for 2 years now. Wow, Yahoo. Seems like Marisa Myers is making me doubt that yahoo really has no grounds for survival. You just made my life so much easier! Great app!
My new go to source for news. Just enough info twice a day presented beautifully
Yahoo News Digest is one of the best examples of how journalism and news are being consumed in the Twitter era. The summarizations afforded by the Yahoo algorithm are typically quite good, and comparable to the upper echelons of the current "twitter journalists". The strength of this app however is in the multimedia and hyperlink driven curation of content that extends a story. I've never seen it done this well and the apps clean design reinforces the content consumption. A good start by Yahoo and I'm excited to see how this app evolves and is refined over time.
great app, waiting for iPad Version no audio when playing video
Overall, it's a nicely designed app and helps you catch up on the news of the day. However, I wish there was a way to filter what types of news you'd like to read. I find that there is a lot of Sports and Odd stories, more than I'd like to read, so it would be nice to filter those out.
The day's news fast and short. Perfect to read with coffee or dinner or just when you have a few minutes. Great job and beautiful design!
I have an iphone 4s and each time I try to open the app it just quits!! I tried shutting off my phone, quitting the app and still nothing. I would love to be able to see the app but it just wont work.
The UI is cool and new. It's been fun! I like how they give the summary for when you just want to catch up, but then there's links and resources in case something really catches your interest and you want to learn more.
Digest is kinda awesome for a new app. I'm really surprised that yahoo actually delivered a great experience this early.
Never said "yes" to notifications at 6pm every night :/
As in Obama loving democratic lefty that is. If you want your climate change (weather), obamacare, war on everyone news, this is your app. Who writes this stuff, Stewart and Maher writers?
Love this app with summary and in depth material when I want to read more. A good place to catch up on news without too much clutter
Thanks for not informing me about the 270 million yahoo email accounts that were hacked! You think that might make it into the top 7 or 8 stories considering most owners of this app carry yahoo email accounts... No doubt it would make it if it happened to google. BIASED and Overrated source of information. Thank god I have Twitter...
This is an app that I would definitely pay money to purchase. It's just so brilliant and the information is very well organized. Just download and take a look, I bet you'll like it.
This app spams ads you can't get rid of it
Love this app! It gives me just the right amount of news!
Yahoo News Digest bece a twice daily habit for me within just a few days. It's a gorgeous way to catch up on top news in different categories.
But I can't send anything through twitter fix it plz
This may be the first time I've purposefully come to write a review. This app is fantastic. The news is relevant, the stories are concise, the UI is gorgeous, the extra news is a great feature, the "did you knows" are excellent. Since I downloaded this I've read or skimmed almost every 'issue.'
Just a few stale McStories, announced breathlessly as if I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for them. Deleting.
good mix of important world news. short summaries with links to more in depth articles.
I've never like Yahoo. It's like they stole the chocolate drink name and tried to be google without the smarts and AOL without dial up. This app is awesome. Definitely my go to app to peruse world news.
Such a great idea: the most important stuff only instead of and endless stream of news. Gorgeous design. Looking forward to see this app develop!
Before downloading the app, I thought I could give a list of topics, or maybe stock symbols, to receive summarized news stories. Instead, the current version only displays news summaries from top stories across some indeterminate cross-section of the daily news (maybe with a focus on U.S. news). It's still useful if you don't have a lot of time to read the news but still want to know what's trending, and the links to other sources of news after the story are handy if you want to go a bit more in depth. Looking forward to more personalization features in future updates. Only three stars for not being able to personalize my news summaries.
Really well done. Easy, quick, clean design.
I like this news app, and seems fair and balanced like Fox! Lol But when I run a video - no audio, I hope there is an update soon.
Excellent summary of daily news!! A modern newspaper.
Excellent summary of daily news!! A modern newspaper.
The app functions well in what it does, I would like to be able to use this on my iPad. This app could be well optimized for the iPad.
Hard to believe that Yahoo, with it's "emphasis" on news has launched this superficial poorly conceived dumbed down app. The summaries are too brief and too few; the articles poorly chosen; the print face is huge (on the ipad it's particularly bothersum); the navigation is unecessarily awkward and flashy; It's a piece of C---p. If you really want new you'll do better to stick with google for now. I've been a Yahoo loyalist for years, but this simply is a bad application.
Absolutely love this app. Please make an iPad version.
I have been looking for a long time a news app that summarizes the day while being well designed - and this app does it perfectly. From the parallax movement to the bonus knowledge after reading all the stories, this app is well architected and functional. This coming from someone who builds mobile apps and websites. Yahoo keeps cranking out well designed apps.
A great design with helpful links, tweets, etc. following each story. The only downside is that it only updates twice a day. With the way news is spread quickly in today's world, I find that updating schedule very odd.
Looks bad on the iPad. Why can't Google make a native iPad App? You have to view it at 2X So passé.
Yahoo has a thing for making gorgeous apps and this one doesn't disappoint!! Love the setup of the app. Definitely my go to news app now!
The application is good. I will be happy, if the team release this app for iPad
Bite size pieces, key quotes, links to more in-depth reading if you're interested (or have the time) The seven topics are well ranged. And the 7 of 7 thing. Smart. Makes one feel accomplished and good to have "More" for those want to read more than seven headliners. I do wonder though what I'm missing out on. How are these seven articles chosen? Because of this, it isn't the only news app I use but definitely one of the bunch.
Love the app, the way it compiles stories is brilliant. It's yahoo, so it works fluidly and has a beautiful design. Keeps me up to date without having to go to 8 news apps, I can just go to those if I want more
I've been using this every morning and evening since it was released. I'd appreciate adjustable article text size in the next version.
Brief and gets me the most important news.
Simple and good UI.
Gradually started using it daily for news update. Gorgeous design. Suggestion: add a section where we can save good articles for future reference. And allow users to have certain category news more if they want. Like Sports more and Politics less using settings.
Yahoo! Does it again. This what I've always wanted. A brief summary of current popular news events. Way to go guys!
This is a great way to get a run-down of the global news twice a day.
It's simple in what it does and it will not replace your other news apps, but it does what's supposed to very well. A nice app to quickly get a look at the current headlines.
The most beautiful app I've used. A pure joy to use. Great job Yahoo.
Very enjoyable, easy to navigate and a great idea!
Great job Yahoo! I love this app! A great way to get all the news you need quickly. I also love the clean user experience.
I was really digging this app: polished, neatly designed, and just the right amount of reading. However, I was wondering where the money was coming from to pay for this, and my answer came in this mornings digest (1/24): Nabisco making new flavors for Oreo cookies. Is this really a newsworthy piece? We have bombs going off in Cairo, protesters in Ukraine demanding more rights, and right next to that an infomercial. I'd prefer to pay to get real news rather than paid press releases. Too bad this isn't an option.
Want to sound smart? Want to keep up on news but don't have time? Like things that are pretty? If you said yes to any of the above, that's a reason to download this app. It's the shiz.
