    Overall not bad, but please have the following which are almost in all of your competitors' apps: 1) DO NOT DIM THE SCREEN WHILE PROCESSING 2) Do remember the user name. 3) Show transaction details as shown on the web edition banking. I have been a HSBC customer for years and I think HSBC really needs some improvements, both on this app and at the branches.

    A useless app. All you can do is check your balance. You can't even pay your credit card bill or any other bill for that matter. It's pathetic that a multibillion dollar corporation can't hire decent developers to make a good app. Also, the app crashes sometimes.

    I read the reviews before downloading. I thought they must be a joke, or posted by a competitor. I couldn't believe the app was as bad as others had written. It is, in fact, exactly that bad. Everything they said was true. This is the worst banking app I have ever used, and I've used a lot. That a bank with the scale and resources of HSBC puts this app out as their official standard is embarassing. Everything about the app exhibits contempt for the people who use the bank. I hope the managers overseeing the app read this and realize this is a total failure.

    In 2014, it’s no longer innovative to allow customers to deposit checks using a mobile phone app. It’s standard. If HSBC management cared about customer experience, they would try using this app and other banks’ apps. Upon doing so, they would fire their tech team. But most likely HSBC managers don’t have accounts at other (superior) banks so they don’t know what they’re missing or what is the current state of the art.

  • Not Useful Like Other Banking Apps

    You can't do much of anything with this app, aside from checking balances and moving money around. Worst of all, HSBC does not have a check deposit feature via photo on their app. HSBC really needs to get with the times. I've had them for years, but am going to switch to a more convenient, modern bank.

    Nice touch of being able to access different accounts in different countries. However, this app is only limited to viewing balances and nothing else.

    App always seem to download an update every time you start it, consuming data and time. I thought the whole point of the App Store is that I can upload on my schedule (or when I have wifi), not whenever the app wants. Nothing is worse than having to wait for upto 5 minutes when all you want is check you balance.

    This app is useless. Since I only hold a mortgage with HSBC, i only need to jump to the mortgage center to make payments. i downloaded the app because the main HSBC site does not play well with the iPad. I can only view my account balance. It will not let me even see my account details. This app is worthless. It is enough to make me go back to snail mail for payments. Seriously disappointed.

    App finally opens but has very little use. After a login process which seems behind the other banks (seemingly for security?) the app is of very little use except for account balances and HSBC transfers. Why is it I can't make payments in this app, transfer from outside banks, or make mobile deposits or many of the other functions available at Bank of America, WellsFargo, Schwab and others? Glad there is finally an app, but what's the point of this one? We might as well just go to the website as that's at least functional (albeit cumbersome).

    It constantly hangs. When I zoom in to locate ATM, it hangs. Have to reload the app. Hangs again when getting details for account. iPad app cannot do inter a/c funds transfer. The rudimentary mobile platform works better, even if it does not look as good. Such a long wait and this is how the app turns out. Disappointing.

    What a disappointing App from HSBC. No one wants to carry a security dongle, give the customer a choice of OTP and get a proper company to help you on your mobile and Internet banking journey.

    It is completely outrageous that a bank the size of HSBC cannot pay actual developers to build a decent app. It's slow. It bugs. It logs you out. It makes you create a new password every 2 weeks. It's ugly. It doesn't feel at home on iOS. I am now considering switching banks because of this horrible app.

    If you aren't forced to use this app, don't do it. As I live in a country where all HSBC online customers were forced to use this app (or lose their online access), I went ahead & downloaded & used it. But it's neither user friendly nor intuitive. It asks for info in vague ways so one isn't 100% sure of the right answers, & it changes all one's old ID's & passwords. In the end, all those hours of aggravation, and for what? So now part of my online security relies upon one of the items I'm most likely to lose or have stolen (or just stop functioning properly): my mobile phone!!!! Some 'improvement'?!?!

    As the title says. After entering my primary password and a few letters of the secondary password as requested the login button never gets enabled for a us account. So the app is essentially useless. Never got past the login screen

    Contrary to some other reports here, this app works for my US account, but it is very clunky indeed. Clearly there has been no input from a designer at all, and very little attention to detail in terms if implementation. The side-menu swipe gesture is very poorly implemented, it clearly should be a direct manipulation gesture but instead it's a clunky gesture that can be triggered far too easily. The app just lacks any polish or delight at all and I really expect more quality from an app in 2013. It's great that it exists, but it was pushed out the door before any craftsmanship could be applied.
