Final Fantasy III -- now on iPhone and iPod touch!
First released in 1990, Final Fantasy III was the first title in the Final Fantasy series to become a million-seller, establishing once and for all that Square Enix's classic RPG saga was here to stay.
The full 3D remake released in 2006 duplicated the original's success, selling over a million copies worldwide.
Final Fantasy III was a hallmark of innovation for the entire series, from the job system that lets characters change classes at any time to the ability to summon powerful creatures such as Shiva and Bahamut.
When darkness falls and the land is robbed of light, four youths are chosen by the crystals to set forth on a journey to save the world.
- New and improved 3D visuals and story sequences exclusive to the iPhone/iPod touch
- Smooth, intuitive touch-panel controls specifically tailored to Square Enix's iPhone RPGs
- Quicker browsing through the monster bestiary and other game records
- New visual designs for the Job Mastery Cards
-Optimized for the 4-inch Retina display.
-Support has been added for the Logitech PowerShell Controller + Battery.
Please note that when updating to iOS 7, Quicksaves will be lost.
Please make sure to save your game to a Slot before updating.
I don't like wasting my time figuring out where I have to go next. Please add a hint system like the one in final fantasy 6. Thank you.
This is another must have for any final fantasy fanatic just like I am. I love the games (except the most recent ones) And played this one through a good number of times. It's console quality on a phone, just she'll out the $15 and get to enjoying yourself already!
Thank you so so so much for this update! Adding widescreen support (with the option to keep the image it's 'original' size, with decent boarders [at least you can move while touching the black bars now]) and CONTROLLER SUPPORT!! I really can't thank you enough. Playing FFIII on my phone is something I really didn't expect to be able to do. Being able to have the rest of your catalogue to play with a controller (where applicable, of course) on the 5th gen's wider screen would be... amazing. I hope you guys keep the updates comin'!
Just bought this game yesterday and it really is a great game, but just so people know this is the Final Fantasy III previously released only in Japan, not the classic FFIII released originally on the SNES. Again it's still worth the buy, plenty of hours of gameplay and Square rarely let's down on storylines...at least in the past.
It took them long enough but now it is iPhone 5 support. Still a great game please do the same for final fantasy 1 & 2!!!!!!
I love this RPG. It can last for as little or long as you want. Well made and produced... EXCEPT, instead of optimizing it for 4" screened devices, they just took the image and stretched it horizontally. Now it looks different than it is supposed to look. BUT, thankfully in the menu you can switch it back to the original size! Thanks for giving us the option.
Best game ever
Thank you square!! Please update the rest for the 4 inch screen too.
I love the FF titles. This game has great graphics and a fun story. Perfect if you like class leveling.
It's just an all out beautiful game!!!
Love this game. I used to play it on ds back in the day, this version is so much better. Awesomely simple gameplay and mystifying environments. Fantasy rpg at it finest.
Third: Best in the iOS
Final Fantasy. If you say it, everyone hears. If you think it, everyone knows. Whether it be the age old Final Fantasy I, II, or III, in all their pixelated glory, or the more recent games on the market, Final Fantasy is truly a veritable masterpiece of RPGs. Taking place in the steampunk-style part of history, (with airships..airships..and hey, more airships!) Final Fantasy III defines the Role Playing Genre. In this case however, the gameplay isn't the only noteworthy aspect. The entire pixelated look has been revamped to a more modern, smooth look, leaving gamers satisfied. Graphics aside though, this Final Fantasy truly unveils it's gameplay perks when you look at the characters. Not only their story, but classes. The game boasts over 20 different classes, each with a style all it's own. Better still, you can switch jobs on the fly by tapping "Jobs" in the main menu. Leveling up jobs, finding new ones, and exploring towns in search of loot really is quite enjoyable. For any fan in favor of RPGs that stand the test of time, Final Fantasy 3 for IOS will keep your eyes glued, and your thumbs stuck firmly to the virtual joystick Square Enix has so thoughtfully provided.
Too expensive! Great game!
Iphone5 optimization and adding korean language would make this game best
I wish they would update it to iPhone 5…
This is a fantastic Nintendo DS port. I love how it looks on retina display. I really wish it supported iPhone 5's wider screen so that my fingers would quit sliding off the digital sticks.
Works great on iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 4 !!! Lacks iCloud
This game is great! Has better graphics then the DS version. If your not into turn based RPG's then this game is not for you.
This should be updated for the iPhone 5 screen size.
The iPhone 5 has been out for over a year now and still not support?
Don't waste your time or money. If you die in the game, it's all over. There is no option to load your previous saves.
Update this game to support the 4 inch iPhone 5/5s display already! Won't buy anything else from Square Enix until they stop abandoning their older games.
These apps cost way too much for the level of developer support users receive (eg, no 5/5s screen compatibility). How about quarterly (or even biannual) updates? How about making universal titles? Note that SquareEnix almost always fails to provide continued support for its apps. They're trading on a legacy & reputation that has clearly run it's course. Caveat emptor (Translation: Buyer beware).
All your Final Fantasy games on iPhone are expensive and there should be support for apps this much. It's such a waste when you upgrade devices.
Please optimize for iphone 5 th gen please or at least a streched screen?
Its good and all but the saves aren't working for me and i keep hafting to restart
If you're not already a fan of turn-based Japanese RPGs, with their endless random battles and linear story lines, this game will not be likely to win you over. Despite the beautiful 3-d graphics, this plays like what it is: a traditional RPG from the late 80s/early 90s. As a longtime fan of the FF games, I have loved this port for the iPhone. I've put about 20 hours into it on my 4S running iOS 6 and haven't had any significant problems with crashes or data loss. The job system is pleasantly fleshed out and there are a lot of different potential party combinations, providing a lot of replay value. Bottom line: if you've played an enjoyed any other FF games, the Dragon Warrior series, Chrono Trigger, etc. this port is well worth the relatively high (for the App Store at least) price.
Top notch game. However requires chocobo or water canoe update to go down waterfalls. Cost me a file i worked for 5 hours that is now unusable because I am stuck at the top of the waterfall
Needs to update for the iPodtouch 5gen! Lags and frames skip a bit, fix those bugs/problems please! Over all Amazingly Awesome game!~
Playing this on my iPhone 4S. Handles well once you get used to the touch controls. Also played this on my DS, and it's still just as addicting. Great game in terms of the job system. Loved how the weapon system works. Easily one of my favorites in the series.
The game is excellent but at a point in it where you have beaten the Nepto serpent but when you exit the temple you are not able to enter it.
Loving the game so far. I haven't encountered any problems with it yet! However, communication with the developers is impossible. Thankfully, I got the game on sale and used a gift card on it, otherwise it wouldn't have been worth it at all. I could get this game for free elsewhere. The least I'd expect after paying $9 for this old, old game is some response to my question from the developers. Get someone on that support e-mail account!
Best game I have
The control panels is a bit hard, but hey, better than nothing. I Love This game! Awesome.
Brought me back to my old FF playing days. This is a really nice port.
Cannot save progress through menu
Its good stunning graphics love it.
but... I want.... Korean language support plz!! And.... I want.... Korean language support plz!! And.... I want iphone5 screen size support plz~ Good luck! I love you!
Beyond the price the touch controls aren't too bad. The control stick is a little touchy. Interacting with people and objects can be a pain as you have to be right on them to get the action icon to appear. I didn't like the graphical enhancement on the DS and definitely don't like it here. I was hoping for a port of the original 2D game. I don't like the Crystal Chronicles look to it. Oh, and don't get me started on the zooming in to find secret stuff. The textures don't always look the best and the game lags a bit from time to time. The lack of an update to resolution for the iPhone 5 is disappointing to say the least. The music as always is wonderful. The best part about the game I would say. Not great, but not bad.
I love final fantasy and I wanted to download this. 16.00$ is a lot to ask for an iOS game but I gave it a shot. It's really great with battle system and story but anyone whose played any ff from 4 to 13 will find the magic system a bit weird. Also, it has a lot of early 90's DNA in it so it can be kind of hard to l Learn. And the job class isn't like ff 5 where you learn abilities and you can keep them you have to stay with the job class. If you decide to switch to another class, you get a penalty for doing it every time! Yet it's a great game but square can lower the price to like 14$.
why don't update korean language?? please!!update!! korean language it;s me !!! the very day waiting!!!
I really like the game, but man, is it challenging in parts!
Title says it all.
Look at the subject. Otherwise the game is good.
I bought this when I had an iPod Touch. Now I've upgraded to an iPad 4, and you're telling me I have to pay another $16.99 for the game to look good on my screen? That is ridiculous. I already paid $14.99 for this app. Make your apps universal like how you released FFIV. That was a good call, not this. 1/5 stars until you make this app so people who like this game only have to pay once for all devices. (I already paid $40 when the DS version was released, too.) The rating reflects nothing on the actual game itself, only bad business tactics.
Take you forever to update this game and don't even update it to fit the entire screen wth
When I get a phone call while I'm playing the game, and I reject the call, the game no longer has any sound. Please fix! Also, this needs iPhone 5 support!!! It would be 5 stars if it weren't for these issues.
This game well the original is as old as I am. I played the original rom years ago and the DS remake changed little but updated the graphics and added a story for all characters. The music is great but I will say the NES versions sound better. The remix in some cases like Doga's theme doesn't do it justice. Good game to play but if your a casual gamer you might want to skip with the price tag because you'll barely play it Edit: I removed some parts to my review and I also want to add the horrible updates caused me to lower my review.
