Kill or be killed. Experience the perils of adventure with your ferocious sidekick in this brand-new smartphone RPG!
The stage of DRAKERIDER is set in Igraine, a world on the brink of destruction due to the repeated attacks of the Dread. Aran Lawson, once an ordinary tracker, now finds himself as a dragalier—and mankind's final hope. This is the story of our hero and his dragon companion, Eckhardt.
The game lets you take the reins with a battle system like no other. Instead of entering commands, control the chains to execute your strategy. Easing off the reins will allow Eckhardt the freedom to unleash powerful attacks. Too much leeway, however, will trigger his primal instincts, endangering Aran.
Led by Akifumi Kaneko, the game is developed by WITCHCRAFT Inc., famous for their work on various anime and other RPGs. This title maintains the high quality and integrity for which they are known.
The characters are voiced by an array of talented artists, including Ryohei Kimura, Nana Mizuki, Shinichiro Miki, Kana Hanazawa, Keiji Fujiwara, and many others. The powerful theme song "unleash," performed by Shoujyo Byou, accentuates the powerful storyline and intense battles.
There are five chapters in total, the first two of which may be enjoyed free of charge! So why not delve into an originally and finely crafted RPG adventure?
● A tale told over five chapters
The fate of Igraine is related over five chapters. The first two chapters are free, and the rest can be purchased individually, or all at once for a special price.
Introductory Chapter & Chapter 2: Free
Chapters 3–5: $6.99 each
All Five Chapters: $15.99
● The battle is in your hands
Tighten or loosen your grip on the reins by sliding the chains at the bottom of the screen. The gauge at the top of the screen represents its tension. Ease off to unleash powerful attacks and abilities, but give your dragon too much freedom and you will lose control. If you're not quick to pull back the reins, he will turn against you.
● Develop your dragon's abilities
Claim victory in battle to earn CP, which you can use to learn abilities and powerful attacks. Unlocking some abilities will close your path to others, so plan carefully and customize your dragon to suit your needs.
Definitely one of the best games I have ever played. The storyline is brilliant, the music is amazing, and the gameplay and graphics are really impressive for an iphone app. If you don't play the entire game, you are really missing out! Would highly recommend.
Great gameplay, compelling story, and simple leveling system. My only advice: avoid grinding while playing the story. At only level 64, I was able to beat the final boss with full health at the end (even though I was not playing defensively at all). If you want a challenge, just level naturally.
Okay so so far, it is an amazing game with an amazing storyline, but I'm still on chapter 2: Avenger- And my dragon went berserk and I ran out of elixirs, I used the dragons (berserk) rage and it keeps my health at 98 and I'm stuck until I find an elixir, I get one shot nearly every time, by anything and I have 3000 coins, I need 12000 to buy an elixir to restore health. Can we be given a pack of 3 elixir(s) after each major boss fight? I deleted the app to re-download because I can't go anywhere without being 1 shot, hopefully I use my elixirs better, but I only ever used 5 elixirs...
Amazing game!...but it just needs more levels
I can't get passed the bee thing. It uses the megablast thing and it uses it 2 times in a row and it kills me and I can't beat it. Can you make it less over powered? Please I can't enjoy the game when I can't beat it.
I love this game
Don't listen to these morons who demand an English dubbed version of this. English voice actors are corny ad hell, anyways. There are English subtitles, you'll be fine.
The game is awsome being able to control a dragon in a world in peril. Plus the graphics and story line is amazing.
The gameplay is simple to use but hard to master, and the story is very interesting. On top of that are the graphics that are pretty amazing for a handheld device. Definitely a good game to buy if you can.
Graphics: really smooth looks like ps2 And the choice of screen positioning and character movement truly optimizes this for a phone. I don't feel like I'm struggling to stare at tiny objects and text. Story: very interesting and very square enix style. Feels like a comic book or a anime it's full of action and never a dull moment Gameplay: smooth with flawless controls. The entire game can be played with 1 thumb which makes it very comfortable. The sliding chains keep a turn based game interesting and the turns come fast and is automatic so it really feels like a real time fight happening with carefully maneuvered abilities. The customization is similar to ff10 with spheres I think it works perfectly and keeps everything smooth. Sound: like all these games the music and sound effects is awesome You play as a dragon controlling Samurai guy who has to save the world from evil. I thought it was a lame overdone story and I didn't like controlling a dragon with chains instead of just playing my own character BUT, after giving it a few hours I can say the whole game is flawless. The story is original and puts you in another world. The dragon controlling is just this games little niche and its quite fun once you get the hang of it. There's only a few games out that make full use of iPhone while still remaining original
Wow this is by far the best rpg I have ever played. The graphic is sick and the storyline tops the game off!!! Make more of these games.
Best game but cost too much!
1000/10 This was an amazing action packed game worth the $16.Keep up the great work Square Enix !!!!!!!! Please make a sequel or another game related to story line!!!!!!
It would be 5 stars but I want to replay in hardmode because who can get to lvl 90 in one play through? I know I can't and I am a frequent player.
This game is so awesome that I bought all the chapters and I finished all the chapters in less than one day :)
I really like it
But for the ludicrous iap prices (same with ff3 being outrageously priced), it's easy to see why square is going bankrupt and will be bought out in the next gen console war. Rip square enix. :-( I grew up loving your games and series' but ending up paying as much as a retail console game for ANY mobile app with your name on it is foolish, arrogant, and plain dumb. Enjoy your blunders and their repercussions!!
Truly a great game to try for sure, runs well on iPod 4G with iOS 6.1.3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ +1 Final Fantasy Quality Anime Graphics and Cutscenes +1 Deeply Involving Story and Gameplay not common on most RPG's +1 Lots of Great Music also as good as Final Fantasy/Xenosaga etc. +1 (Once All Chapters Bought) Ton's to do and see, deeply immersive -1 No HD Version for iPhone/iPod, Chapters are extremely expensive to buy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If the All Chapter Bundle went down to $9.99 I'd jump on it for sure, only an HD Version of the game would be worth $16.00 if one was available.
Ya suppose ta solve cube mazes at shops to win more Gil or items then ya can play farther in remember don't fight an area where u can't find elixir if health is running low
Good story, and I've had no issue with the controls in or out of battle. But for some reason, the music won't play.
Takes too long to load so I haven't played
Is it 16 dollars when i paid more for DRAKERIDER 1 -.- , and they offer an updated version for 16$ more. not cool square, not cool. I want a refund to buy the new version that should have been an update. Why make an upgraded version that couldve undergone an update. This is seriously not fair, and i payed the full price to play the game that apparenty wasnt perfect for you guys
Subject "Drakerider: Chains transcend" This is the most ridiculous thing ever. This should have been the update to the original game drake riders. I already bought all the episodes for that game and now for a slightly improved version you want me to pay for it all over. As a fan if your games this really feels like a punch to the gut and a betrayal. You guys should fire the idiots responsible for the Decision to charge for this over glorified update. If I could give you guys no stars I would. I know you are a for profit company but it would have been nice if you had taken care of and remembered your fans that support you guys cause with this move you've lost me as a fan.
Won't let me download and I had more than enough space so i ended up deleting games and photos an losing my progress
First off i don't like the idea of controlling a dragon with chains, that seems more slave driving and shows a dragon as a mindless beast. Even in other square games dragons are shown as wise and powerful but are not just crazed psychos. As a huge fan of dragons this game cuts into the the basis of what i view dragons to be. And thus not my kind of game.
100/10 100/10 No matter what anybody thinks this is one of top rpg games i have played and is at the top of my game list
The storyline is incredibly cliché. The character design is far below my standards for square enix. The combat is inspired and unique but I don't love it.
It is nice but I want to play all chapters for free plz do this
This is an awesome game, hands down. However, the clash of the English version names/terminology with the Japanese voice-overs can be distracting, especially when you're trying to immerse yourself in the riveting storyline of the game. It would be great if there was either an English voice-over dub option, and/or an option to switch the text into a Romanized version of its original Japanese counterpart.
Love the game but you need to make it after you beat the game where you could play the game over with the same items you had when you beat it
Story is not special compares to many other but: - Battle system is a great idea. - Easy to enjoy but need to replay in "hardmode" if gamer want all archivement (I found that really fun that you need to play again and set yourself at hardest mode if you want to get all archivements) - Graphics is another great job. - Japanese voice, yes, it keep most JRPG player enjoy it. On a minus star for Square Enix is at their price. That make a huge barrier between company and gamer. Also they never have any special day like "Free A Day". But that company decision so I do not add this minus star in this review. Great job, Square Enix! (personal, I like it when it still SquareSoft more:) )
Really enjoyed the game. Story was good. Game play was fun. Reminded of chaos rings a little. Excellent work square.
Man. This is a really really really really really really good game! But...! I don't have a large enough iTunes Gift Card to get all the chapters! T.T Well, I guess I'll just have to wait until I get one... But so far, the game is really interesting, the battle system seems fairly unique, although I can think of a similar one off the top of my head. (Monster Rancher DS) Last boss in chapter 1 is ridiculously hard to beat, but that's okay 'cause it's a final boss-ish thing. So my only complaint is that Square Enix kinda overprices their iOS apps and IAPs, but I can't really complain because, I mean, if I really think about it, $25 is about the amount you would spend on desserts and snacks in a few days if you go to some restaurants and stores. So, as much as I like my sweets, I would skip a few days' worth of dessert for the rest of the chapters of this game anytime. Overall great gameplay, storyline is good, character design is nice (although Quory's outfit doesn't look like it would be possible to wear), music is good, and JP dub!!! Yes!!! Well, I think I covered everything, so I'll say this again: Great game! On a side note: It's hilarious just how obvious it is that the names were changed. If you pay attention a little, you'll notice that the names they mention are WAY different than what's written. xD Well at least some of them.
The game is so good but plz iphone 5 support:'(
Simply awesome if they can make a continuation of the game even more awesome
It's a really fun game and I love the storyline but what I hate is the fact that you have to buy the next part of the game - specifically the third chapter. I don't understand why we have to pay for that - considering the storyline is great but we get left having after hours of gameplay because of that payment.
Plus plus plus
The best designed game I've played for the IPhone. Very fun and addictive; unfortunately this game uses quite a bit of memory and eats through battery life. Other then that probably the best game I've played yet.
I've always loved RPG's and dragons well this has both!!!!!!! This is my favorite app yet!!!!!
It takes up space! I had to delete all my apps, songs, pictures, videos (basically everything that can be deleted) I like this game and all I just wished it didn't take up so much space :(
I really enjoy playing this game. The only thing I dislike is the fact that I can't play it full screen on my 5, it's a great game but there's also a couple of glitches on chapter 2 where I can literally walk on thin air above a pit. But it's really good, hope to see the third chapter gets released for free cause I only just recently bought the second chapter, kinda disappointed that I bought it and now it's free.
Not even a dollar it's deserve it's really big malakia!!!! Go suicide your selfs.... Don't even get into to download it... NO WAY GUYS!! LOST TIME!!!!
I'm an oldschool square fan, until I stopped playing platform games. This battle system is great and the storyline and artwork is top notch. Although the theme reminds me of Lunar, I would really REALLY appreciate a sequel to This! It's a great alternative for us rpg players of the past who don't have time for a PSX anymore but do have smartphones. Sequel please! I'll buy!
The game is epic, no doubt about it
Square Enix never disappoints.
I would just like to know which Latin loving geek translated this? At times it's so wrong, it is painful and annoying.
This game is hell of a good game can't wait to get paid to buy all the chapters good job square, hope to see more games like this in the future
I think so. I plan on buying a iTunes gift card today so I can enjoy the rest of this wonderful story. Game has no lag or crash on my iPhone 4S. Not to mention the great graphics and story line. Thanks again SQUARENIX I don't have a ps3 anymore but I'm not missing out
