The free (ISC)²® Practice Tests App is brought to you by (ISC)², the creators of the CISSP, SSCP, CAP and CSSLP certification examinations. The app contains a free glossary of more than 6,500 information security and application security terms. In addition, the app features practice tests for purchase to help candidates in their studies for (ISC)²’s certification exams.
Upon downloading the free app, users can immediately access the glossary of 6,500+ cyber security terms, pulled together from various publications within:
•(ISC)² Press Library
•Auerbach's Glossary Definitions
•Commonly used industry terms and acronyms
In the glossary, users can scroll the list of terms or quickly search for a term by name to access the definition of the term. The glossary is updated regularly to keep it current with industry best practices regarding the latest information and application security technologies.
Practice Tests (In-App Purchases)
Practice tests can be purchased in the app for the CISSP, CAP, SSCP and CSSLP certifications (additional tests coming soon for CCFP, ISSAP, ISSEP and ISSMP). The practice tests contain questions written, and vetted by (ISC)² industry experts, to the same standards as questions on the certification exam, and are designed to help you assess your understanding of the domains covered in the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK®).
Each test pack includes:
•25 questions per practice test (US$4.99 for each)
•Multiple choice questions, just like the real exam
•Questions covering each domain of the exam
•Explanation of the correct answer*
•Review results and see how you scored in each domain
•Re-take a purchased test as many times as you'd like to test your knowledge
*Must select “Yes. Tell me if my answer is correct after each exam.” Explanations provide for most questions.
Still waiting for ISSMP questions.
These questions are written in the style most similar to the actual tests. That's good and gets you into the right mindset. However, answers are not referenced so you have to take their word that a particular answer is the correct one. In a few cases I disagreed with the answer the app chose. Also, in a small number of questions, the wording is missing some keywords that are later used to justify the chosen answer. Bottom line, use this to know what the questions will look like, but make sure you study other resources as we'll
Cool interface and question content. I did get a question that asked about a scenario that wasn't articulated in the original question, in the SSCP sample set.
The additional practice questions are $4.99 for each batch of 25. At that price I expected higher quality. Typos are common, many questions don't include the rationale for the correct answer, and at least one references a scenario which isn't stated. Also, there is no way to review previous questions other than running through an entire batch again. For learning purposes it's nice to re-examine the question and choices once the correct answer is known. That's pretty basic studying which isn't possible with this app. I am pleased to have passed the exam today but found other study materials more valuable than this.
