  • My girls love this app!

    by PorcelaindollOT

My girls LOVE this app!! It covers approx 50 adjectives but also has the option to choose adjectives to cover. There is a short animated video describing the adjective and then there is a 'Phrase' button where the word is used in a sentence. The words are also written at the bottom of the screen to work on reading skills. Cute animations and music allow for the child to go through the app by themselves for entertainment with some learning or a therapist/parent can go through with their child and go through the concepts with them to ensure maximal learning.

  • Happy!

Milo's at it again! Love this app for my Speech students. One suggestion: for a few of the emotions (sad, angry), Milo ends with his "Tada" and a smile. It would be helpful to have all the emotion concepts finish with the target concept so we could talk about the features or reasons for the particular faces.

  • Wonderful app

My daughter loves this app. Milo grabs her attention and she really likes the tada . It's a huge help in learning her words.

  • What's Milo Doing!

    by ReadingKell

My 3 yr old absolutely LOVES Milo! Every night he asks, what's Milo doing!, and that's when we sit together to see the adventures of Milo. He loves to act out the words with Milo and laughs every time Milo starts to tap his toe and check his watch as he waits for us to continue play. I would recommend this app to anyone looking to help their toddler explore new words and their meanings. It's great that he can see the words with the actions! And it's super cute when my son gets to feed Milo and watch him dance. Awesome app!

  • Not impressed

As an SLP, I'm always on the lookout for apps to target vocab and concepts with my patients. I've heard good things about the Milo apps so I was very disappointed when it didn't live up to all the hype. First off, I don't like that Milo starts off immediately showing his impatience by looking at his watch. I mean, give me a second and I will tap on you. If there was more than a 3-5 second delay, then that would be the time to give the visual prompt to tap on him. Secondly, the background music is so loud it overshadows the spoken word; not to mention that the "tada" is unnecessary and annoying. Thirdly, I don't like that the adjective is spoken while another concept is still showing. Like for "sad", his face is still happy when the adj "sad" is spoken. It's confusing. And finally, I don't feel that some of the animations adequately demonstrate the concept being targeted. For example, with "long" and "short"- the digging in the mud is distracting and doesn't contribute to the understanding of the two concepts. Oppositional adjectives would best be illustrated by a split-screen or two characters on the screen at once rather than just showing the concepts consecutively. The ability to record and playback the child's verbalization of the word/phrase would also be a nice feature. I don't mean to be so critical, but I had high hopes for this series and frankly I've found other apps that are better executed.
